over the Leaf village, eager for any adventure. He had an extreme case of boredom from a D-Ranked mission he had to handle earlier that day, and unfortunately was one-upped by Sasuke once again. It was tiring, having the same thing happen to him over and over, only in different ways. With furrowed brows and a pout, he walked along a stone road with his hands shoved in his pockets stiffly.
"That Sasuke. I'll show him!" He muttered under his breath, kicking a rock in his path.
Soon enough, he landed right in a field of flowers, the calm wind causing them to flow to the side slightly. His eyes widened at the sight. Dozens of kinds of flowers took over the large field, huddling in their own separate groups.
The next thing he saw was a girl around his age, bending down to pluck a sunflower to add to her collection. She was singing to herself, not too loudly but not too quietly either. The sun shone down on her, but it looked like she didn't mind. He had immediately given her a nickname, one that represented her well.
But that was a secret.
"Hey!" Naruto jogged up to her and she stopped abruptly, adjusting her posture to look at the yellow-haired boy.
"Hello!" She grinned sheepishly at him, her crystal-like eyes shining in excitement.
"Um, I'm Naruto Uzumaki." He shoved his hands deeper into his pockets. Instinctually, he looked down at the grass-covered ground, waiting for the loud yells or scoffs that would fill the air once she realized who he was.
She didn't care about who he was, or what he represented, though. Not one bit.
"I'm Yuri! It's nice to meet you, Naruto." Her lashes brushed the brim of her cheeks as she gave him a kind, close-eyed smile. "You're a ninja, right?"

He bit his lip in a relieved manner. "Yeah. I've been a Genin for a while."
"That's so cool!" She gushed, rummaging through her basket to find something.
At her remark, he gained an ounce of his usual confidence. "I've been wanting to do it, ya know! I want to be Hokage someday, and the only way to do that is to become the best shinobi."
She nodded quickly, listening to every word he would say. She admired how passionate he was about his dream.
She then brought out a lily flower and held it up to his hair, her basket still swaying from her extreme case of movement.
He hesitated for a moment, reading the situation. He did that almost none of the time, but this was a rare moment, so he analyzed. Why was she being so nice to a person she just met? Why was she carrying around a basket of flowers? Why was she wanting to give him a flower that represented her name? Yuri.
Nonetheless, he bent forward just a little bit, so that the flower would sit on the curve of his ear.
She jumped a little out of happiness, clapping her hands together.
Tears slyly made their way out of his eyes and he didn't notice until one fell to the ground, catching his attention.
"Why are you crying?" Yuri asked in a concerned tone, reaching her hand to his face to wipe his tears delicately.
More tears formed at her touch. "Because you're one of the first people who I've met that didn't run away from me, or call me a monster. You're really nice..."
He took a deep breath. "So,"
"Thank you."

5 237Incursions
This blurb concerns Incursions book 1: Incarceration. If you could buy superhuman abilities, but they might kill you—or worse—would you do it? Ten years ago, in a world not so different from our own, people with powerful abilities appeared. The new powers were dangerous, dangerous to acquire—dangerous to have—dangerous to wield. World governments raced to find and eradicate the abilities and those who possess them while using the media to rule by fear. Whereas corporations sought to exploit the abilities for profit. Raz Owens was living the dream - a rising star at a job he enjoys, a girlfriend he loves, but it all comes crashing down when Raz disregards his late father's advice. He is pulled into a chaotic underworld of clandestine labs, shadow organizations, and super-powered criminals. Used as a human test subject in a place where few survive the day, he must last long enough to escape. His only advantage? A power that seems nearly useless—a heads-up display. Contains: monsters, violence, death, dismemberment, gamelit, superpowers, superpower consequences, good guys, bad guys, good guys who might be bad guys, bad guys who think they are good guys, good guys that might go bad, bad guys that might turn good, guns for hire, competence, incompetence, continence, incontinence, conspiracies, and some of what I just said wasn't true. This story is written in third person limited POV. That means you can expect to know many of the thoughts and inner dialog of one character, and only see the actions of other characters. This POV does include scenes without the main character, and thus the reader can and will know things the main character does not. Further, this means characters act on what they know, which is almost always less than the reader knows. Something else to know. These books do not hold your hand. If you're reading it and thinking "Gosh, why aren't 'they' doing some 'obvious' thing." Bad news. You probably missed something that explains exactly that. If you're seeking a light read that doesn't ask much of you as the reader, you're invited and very welcome to come on in, but this might not be the story for you.

Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.

It’s was the end of the world and to be honest from what I’ve heard, life wasn’t too different to the world I know today… Besides the fact that we live online, obviously. I’m still in cyber debt, life from what I hear still sucks as much as it did back then, but maybe, just maybe I can scratch beneath the surface of this disillusioned world and disconnect universally; I might have a chance to experience true life in its purest form.
