《A Senju's Family》Chapter 10 🌟

Haruki was in an unfamiliar room, seated in the shadows as she stared out into the scene before her. It was all a blur.
For the most part, she could make out certain shapes and features despite the haziness.
There was a table in the middle of the room, and what she could only assume to be two men sitting on either side of it. They seemed to be discussing something, but she couldn't hear them. She didn't even know if they were talking or not!
All she could do was assume.
Her eyes slowly shifted away from the table and the two men, and she turned her gaze to point directly in front of her. And that's when she saw those eyes.
Her breath hitched, onyx sparkling eyes meeting silver dull ones.
They were the only thing in the room that wasn't blurry, and she even found it difficult to blink in fear of losing sight of them.
She quickly figured that the eyes belonged to a boy, but the rest of his body was foggy as well. She could make out the color of his hair though, a tuft of dark locks falling over his forehead and skimming over his eyelashes.
He was younger than her, or at least she thought he was by the size of his blurred body. She glanced down at herself, noticing that she was younger as well.
In fact, she had reverted into a child!
She was wearing a pale blue dress, like the ones her mom would always dress her in when she was around this age. What was going on?
The silence in the room was deafening, uncomfortable even.
Haruki slowly raised her head once more, eyes quickly returning to meet those of the boy sitting directly in front of her. The pull felt magnetic.
She doesn't know how long they both sat there, men at the table long forgotten as they stared at one another. Or more like, Haruki stared at the boy.
Although she felt like his eyes were drilling directly into her own, she came to realize that he was actually staring right through her; as if she wasn't there.
Haruki was drawn to him, despite only knowing what his eyes looked like (And more or less the color of his hair) She couldn't look away even if she wanted to!
There was something she found mesmerizing about him, about his eyes.
She's never seen anything like them before, such a rare and pretty shade of grey captured in another person's eyes like that.
And yet—
His eyes were so dull, so sad...
Her heart ached for some reason, was it because of him? She knew the answer without even having to think about it.
She wanted to speak to him, to get closer and take a better look at his face, but it was like a divine force was holding her back.
Her back was practically glued to the wall, and her throat was closed up, preventing her from uttering any words to the boy.
So the two of them sat there in silence for who knows how long, staring through one another for ages as Haruki gazed into those enchanting grey eyes.
She wondered if he knew she was there at all, but by the way he seemed to be staring through her rather than at her, she highly doubted it.
After a while, she noticed that the longer she stared into his eyes, the more bearable the silence became. Was being with this boy comforting her?
She felt odd; if it weren't for the odd force pinning her back to the wall, she thought that she'd instinctually just lean into him. Weird...

Again, time passes. Seconds? Minutes? Hours? Haruki couldn't tell. But oddly enough, she felt the forces that were once binding her away from this boy loosen.
And that wasn't all, Haruki's throat suddenly cleared up, giving her the ability to speak for the first time since arriving in this room.
Haruki's eyes widened, and she perked up, leaning forward hesitantly. However, no matter how close she got, the rest of his face and body wouldn't clear up.
It was frustrating, she wanted to see his face!
She took a deep breath, getting ready to speak to him for the first time, to demand his attention, but before she could--
Haruki shot up with a gasp, chest rising and falling rapidly as she tried to calm down her breathing.
It was that again!
The sun had rays of light piercing through her lacy blinds, filtering into her room and leaving a golden sparkling, glittering effect on her pale skin and hair.
She paid no attention to the bright sun, her head still swirling with emotions over having that dream again after so long.
It's been years, years upon years upon years that she's had that same dream!
The boy with the silver eyes, how could she have forgotten him?!
No, she hadn't forgotten him. No matter how hard she tried, that boy had a permanent position locked in the back of her head and heart.
He was impossible to forget.
One side of her loved that he was still somewhere in her unconsciousness and that she truly hadn't forgotten about him. The other side of her felt that irreplaceable pit of emptiness she felt whenever she'd wake up from those dreams.
She longed to see him in person, to speak to him, to hear what his voice sounded like. She always has, and although it seemed like they were still little kids in her dreams, he must've aged along with her right?
The dreamy, stargazing, and hopeful girl in Haruki wished for him to be real. However, her more logical side told her he probably wasn't, that this boy was just a figment of her imagination.
Who was she kidding, of course he wasn't real!!
(Luckily, Haruki rarely ever listened to the more logical Debby downer part of her brain.)
She was much more of a dreamer who believed firmly in true love rather than a realist.
Maybe that's why Shikadai always made her cry so easily when she was little whenever he'd debunk her fairytale stories. Rest assured, he always apologized to her with a stick of sweet dango while mumbling something along the lines of how troublesome she was.
Haruki sighed to herself, even a morning person like her finds it hard to move past dreams sometimes! And this just so happened to be one of the most haunting dreams of them all!
It was a little funny to her, how could a look so dull become one of the most enchanting sights to her?
Rivaled only by the pretty blue color of Boruto's eyes of course
A small blush tinted Haruki's cheeks at the thought of Boruto as always. She felt a bubbling sense of nerves and anxiousness (The good kind, She supposed.) as they imagined how their next encounter would go.
She always did this, always day-dreamt about how she'd finally garner the courage to speak to him and become his friend. Of course, she disappointed herself each and every time he was within five feet of her.
But she remained positive and knew that one day it'd happen!
It had to right? That's how fate worked! And Haruki trusted in fate more than anything else.

Even her auntie Hinata would encourage her every time they met! For some reason the Hokage's wife always had a special care for Haruki.
Haruki always assumed it was because she would cling to the Hyuga princesses side whenever she was over the Uzumaki residence. In reality, Hinata saw some of herself in Haruki and though the Uchiha's obvious crush on Boruto was a little familiar.
From one former lovestruck child to a current one, Hinata could relate.
Haruki fell back on her pillows once more, staring up at the blank ceiling as her thoughts ran wild. Maybe she'd even get placed on the same team as Boruto!
The thought had butterflies fluttering about in Haruki's tummy, she'd surely be able to speak to him then! Taking a deep breath, Haruki placed the back of her cool hand over her forehead.
Despite her blushy reaction to even the thought of Boruto, her mind was still overrun with the vision of those bewitching silver eyes.
Why on earth did she have that dream again? After so long?
'I need some of my green tea' She thought to herself with a small sweatdrop, gently letting go of her stuffed bear and perching it in the center of her bed as she scooted to the side.
Quickly, the young Uchiha princess got up and made her bed, lightly stepping towards her bedroom door. Then she froze, a sudden realization stopping her in her tracks.
She didn't remember walking up to her bed last night at all!
She was up with Runa in the living room as they sat around waiting for their father to return home with Daisuke and their mom. They were both so tired though, and dozed off together on the couch!
'Was I carried up here?' She thought to herself.
She didn't let the thought trouble her for too long. Haruki found it easy to accept the warm feeling in her heart at the thought of her father bringing her to her room so that she'd sleep okay, even if that wasn't the actual case.
Haruki paced out of her room, wandering down to the first floor of her home and heading straight to the kitchen.
She was moving on autopilot, the only thing on her mind being her morning green tea that'd surely help take her mind off of the silver-eyed boy from her dreams.
It wasn't that she didn't like those dreams necessarily, what she really didn't enjoy was the sense of longing she felt whenever she'd wake up from them.
So her sense of pining couldn't really go away as long as she thought about him, it hurt...
"Haruki?" A voice gently asked, spooking Haruki out of her thoughts. Her head snapped towards Sasuke in surprise. He looked casual enough, leaning by the open kitchen without his cloak or sword strapped onto him.
In the back of her head, Haruki immediately felt relieved. She didn't want nor did she expect to see her father leave so soon!
"Dad? Good morning!" Haruki exclaimed, eyes widening in slight disbelief.
Sasuke raised a dark brow at her flustered expression. He had gone downstairs after leaving Runa and Haru up in their bedroom so that they could spend some alone time together. Sasuke took this time in walking around and exploring parts of his house again.
Nothing really changed too much, Haru kept the layout of the house from all of those years ago up until now. The biggest difference would be that instead of only pictures of baby Masahiko and Katsuro decorating the hallway walls, all five of his kids were included now.
Sasuke then resided in the luxurious kitchen for the time being, he was the only one awake and the fact didn't surprise him.
Three out of five of his kids were gifted with the love of sleeping via their mother, so he expected Masahiko and Haruki to be heading downstairs at any moment.
And he was proven right. Soon enough (With his sharp senses) He heard the soft opening and closing from a door upstairs. Before he could go investigate however, he fell witness to his white-haired daughter stumbling down the steps as she rubbed at her eyes.
He grew a bit concerned over Haruki at that moment, fearing that she'd either trip over her own feet with how languidly she was walking or that she'd just knock out again like a light midstep.
He's witnessed Haru do it before, so he didn't put it past Haruki to do the same thing.
So he stood by the kitchen entryway on full alert, entirely ready to dash up to his daughter and save her from her own perceived clumsiness as she hadn't even noticed his presence yet.
That was all only a couple of seconds ago, but even now as his daughter was staring up at him with her big sparkling eyes, his concern didn't waver much.
She looked troubled for some reason, could it be because she had a bad dream?
It was moments like this when he realized that he really did know his daughters a bit more than he gave himself credit for. Granted, when Haruki was younger Sasuke was very much a hovering parent, especially when it came to anything Kaguya related.
It was when Haru fell into a coma that Haruki's nightmares and vivid dreams began. Her nightmares always involved a woman with a description eerily similar to Kaguya's, and it was because of this that Sasuke was so concerned with her dreams.
They weren't all bad though, sometimes she dreamt of this boy with 'the prettiest silver eyes ever!' as she described them when she was younger, and other times she'd dream of silly things only little girls would dream of.
Either way, Sasuke was much more of a listener than a talker even way back then. So it was safe to say that he was very familiar with all of her vivid dreams from when she was little.
A sense of deja-vu washed over him as he looked down at her now. She was no longer a little toddling four-year-old who'd cling onto him after waking up, he knew that, but something about the way she blinked up at him elicited the same reaction in him.
"How're you feeling?" he asked, the question is the only thing he could think of as he gazed down at her. She looked startled, was it because of his presence? He didn't know.
No—
It was because she was just sulking about the boy who's plagued her dreams for years and how she'll probably never meet anybody like him and suddenly her father appeared out of nowhere- but she digressed.
She paused, shifting her weight back and forth between each leg as she thought of an answer. "I'm—"
Does she tell him the truth?
That she was feeling a little down?
And a little freaked out by the old dream that's come back to haunt her?
She didn't want to worry him, nor did she want to dampen the mood of the house now that he was home. Sasuke always worried over Haruki lots, she didn't want him to spend his limited time home like that!
"I'm okay." She smiled, a trace of guilt bubbling up in the back of her head. She hated lying, always stood against it. But maybe this one time wouldn't hurt too much...
Sasuke's eyes narrowed, seven years of separation has done many things to the man, but it hasn't changed the fact that at the end of the day he knows his daughter.
And he knows what she looks like when she lies.
Because she's the worst liar he's ever met.
It's not like little kids are ever good liars to begin with, but Haruki was the exception since she was absolutely horrible at it.
It was so bad that Runa (the superior liar) wouldn't tell Haruki about the schemes she would drag her into because she knew the white haired girl would just crumble under the pressure and tell their parents.
It'd send Haruki into a fit of anxiousness everytime, trusting Runa would oftentimes bite her in the ass. As the certified wild child out of the two, Runa had no problems bending her mothers rules and bringing Haruki along to join her.
Did they get caught every time? Yes. Was the experience worth it though? The older sister of the twin duo would respond with a very confident "Yes!" Whereas Haruki would let out a very disappointed "No!!"
Haruki was too much of a sweetheart to learn any better though, constantly clinging onto the faith that Runa wouldn't pull her into trouble despite the many many times she already did.
Lot's of shared punishments were distributed between the twins when they were little, to say the least.
Sasuke thought Haruki's horrible lying was adorable then, and he still thinks it's a little cute now.
Even though now she no longer flushes a bright pink, nor does she stutter the words in fear, she avoids his eyes like they were the plague the second the words 'I'm okay' began to tumble from her lips.
He was officially concerned, why would she try lying?
"Was it Kaguya?" He asked. If Haruki was having dreams with Kaguya in them again, he needed to know about it.
Sure, his travels were never specifically to find a cure for this generational curse, but either way he worked hard to double task. He'd connect dots at every opportunity, theorize with Naruto and Shikamaru via letters, and use her curse as the driving force of his work.
Saving the world could come second sometimes.
"No! I'd tell you if it had to do with her!" She exclaimed, blushing in embarrassment at how easily he figured her out.
Well, although he assumed the topic wrong, he definitely knew something was wrong with her dreams!
"It was...that boy...the one with the grey eyes, I don't know if you remember," Haruki mumbled sheepishly, scratching the back of her neck as she told her father the truth.
Sasuke's eyebrows raised, watching as Haruki fiddled with the ends of her curly hair as she awaited his response.
"Come, let's sit down." He sighed, placing a hand on her shoulder and leading her out into the living room.
She looked up at him in surprise once more but followed regardless, eager to spend time with her father (Despite missing out on her green tea for now)
Once the two of them settled in the living room with Haruki cuddled up into one of the many throw pillows Haru used for decoration on the couch; and Sasuke sitting beside her. The older Uchiha turned a bit more serious.
"When you were little you had those dreams all the time. So why is it weird that you got one now?" Sasuke asked, turning to Haruki curiously.
Although Sasuke was never particularly fond of his baby fawning over some 'magical dream boy' (As she formally named him), the dreams seemed harmless enough.
So what changed now?
"I haven't had a dream like that in years! I don't know, I guess it was just surprising? I haven't seen those eyes since I was little." Haruki mumbled, leaning her cheek against the throw pillow.
Sasuke listened silently with raised brows.
Haruki's always had a mysterious dream pattern, and it all started when Haru entered that coma years ago.
It'd range from typical dreams the average child would have, to visions of Kaguya resembling nightmares that left Haruki trembling out of fear in the middle of the night.
And in between, those recurring dreams about that boy.
Could this be connected? Sasuke couldn't be so sure, but the fact that she's had that dream so many times was enough to raise a few suspicions.
"It's not that big of a deal, Kaguya wasn't involved." She added on, hoping that it'd make him feel relieved rather than concerned. For the most part it worked. Sasuke nodded, a bit relieved to hear it nonetheless.
He was stressed enough over her curse, he didn't know how he'd act if she were suddenly plagued with those terrible nightmares again.
"Alright well...Let me know if anything happens with those dreams." He murmured, resting his back to the comfortable couch as he spoke.
"I will! I promise." Haruki smiled, hoping that she eased his worries at least a little.
