••••••••

The night was initially calm, the moon beamed brightly and bounced off of Haruki's pale complexion with a soft glow.

Nighttime was always one of Haruki's favorite moments of the day, it was a time of vulnerability and peace. The world is at rest during the night time, and the untouchable twinkling stars in the sky were something Haruki's cherished since she was little.

She couldn't even count the number of times she wished upon stars as a little girl, hoping her dreams would come true.

She had vague memories of being with her father whenever she would look up at the stars, he would pick her up and stay up late with her as she babbled on and on about fairy tales and how important it was that they wish on stars to have good things happen.

She even remembers making him wish that her mom would wake up soon from the coma she was subjected to when he wouldn't listen to her true love's kiss theory, but that was their own little secret.

Haruki associated the nighttime with these fond memories, the ones she could barely hold on to any longer as time went on and the distance between herself and her dad grew.

Although it hurt her that she was beginning to really forget him, she refused to let these thoughts taint her love for him. She sometimes wondered to herself if he ever even remembered her, but she wouldn't let such thoughts last too long.

She would drive herself mad if she did.

Her dad was her world when she was little, there were hazy memories of him carrying her around Konoha for night time strolls or her having nightmares and napping by his side for comfort that sometimes wandered through it all.

So, Haruki didn't appreciate it whenever somebody took the nighttime and twisted it into something ugly, something sinister. And yet- she's standing across from the girl who did just that.

"How'd you find me? Hiding is my specialty." Sumire said, overlooking the village as Haruki stood a couple of feet away.

Haruki arched a brow, unamused by the question at hand.

"Finding people is my specialty, go figure." Haruki admitted bluntly, biting her inner cheek out of habit,

There was zero part of her that would enjoy this under normal circumstances, Haruki despised hurting others.

However, there would always be exceptions to the rule.

Well, maybe there wasn't an exception, Haruki still didn't necessarily enjoy hurting others no matter how angry she got, but there was no denying her lack of sympathy for certain individuals.

"Haruki-hime" Sumire mused, her back facing the Uchiha as she looked over the city of Konoha. "I get it now." She sighed, her purple hair flowing with the soft breeze the nighttime had to offer.

Haruki could barely blink. She was so upset, this girl who she's been suspicious of from the beginning has targeted her friends and consequently planned out an attack on her town!

Sumire made her look crazy! Her own sister couldn't believe her, chalking up this situation to jealousy which was absolutely ridiculous to Haruki.

Inojin rejected Haruki's theories, but something about the teasing smile on his face whenever he would call her jealous told her that he wasn't being so serious.

But here Haruki stands, proven right.

She has no internal need to rub in how right she was right and how wrong Runa was, she isn't that type of person.

If anything Haruki was just relieved that she truly wasn't going crazy.

Amidst her small twinges of relief though, her anger towards Sumire was emitting out of her through waves.

Haruki is by no means somebody who is easy to anger. Anger isn't even her first reaction whenever things don't go her way. Haruki's the type to go through oceans of tears before ever even raising her voice.

Well, there was one exception. Whenever Inojin would eat raw cookie dough while she wasn't looking, she would turn into a ball of burning rage!!

Did he not know how dangerous that was?! Gosh she swears he does it to mess with her!!

But of course, her yelling at Inojin about his health as he eats raw cookie dough is a far cuter and subdued version to what she is now.

Her tumultuous emotions towards Sumire have been building up for quite some time now, and to see that giant beast from afar land in the Senju park had Haruki's blood boiling.

Senju park is awfully close to Konoha's hospital, that meant that if it weren't for the barricade squad, her little brother residing in one of those rooms could have been seriously injured.

Haruki swore she could see red at the thought of anything happening to him.

Fiercely protective of her loved ones, Haruki would not hesitate to off anyone with the intention of hurting her family.

Would she feel remorse?

She didn't think so, when she got angry, in the rare occasion where red hot fury would run through her veins, Haruki practically blinds herself towards her goal.

Unbeknownst to her, much like her father, she had a very strong sense of vengeance wrapped up in a pretty package deep within her soul.

At the thought of Daisuke getting seriously hurt because of Sumire's actions, Haruki could feel small fragments of crystal forming at her fingertips.

She found herself having to take deep breaths in order to keep from lashing out at her 'class rep'.

"This is why you always looked at me differently, you knew all along, didn't you?" The question was one they both knew the answer to.

Yes, Haruki knew of Sumire's foul intentions all along. However, Sumire's known of Haruki's looming dark chakra as well. It was barely traceable, hidden beneath all the good, but it was aching to be let out.

Haruki's other nature would show itself whenever Sumire was involved, her dark gazes, her clenched jaw, the little fragments of crystal that would appear on her fingertips as an attempt to hold herself back from attacking.

It seemed like Sumire wasn't the only one with a couple of faces.

"A chakra so disgusting is hard to ignore," Haruki said lightly, shrugging her shoulders.

Disgusting would be an understatement, Haruki could barely stand being in the same room as her, at first she thought that maybe she was being hypersensitive, but after talking to Mitsuki she knew she wasn't going crazy!

Sumire chuckled, shaking her head at the Uchiha's words.

"So what now? Are you going to try and kill me? I didn't think you had it in you." Sumire smiled, amused at the thought.

Sumire wasn't threatened by Haruki, although she knew better than to underestimate her opponents, she was sure that she had more tricks under her sleeve than Haruki did.

If that weren't enough, from the second Sumire found out Haruki was onto her, she took it upon herself to study her probable future opponent a bit more.

To her disappointment, everything on Sasuke & Haru Uchiha was locked, it was impossible to get information on either one of them.

Sumire resorted to learning more through Runa, who unknowingly fed her information on Haruki's abilities.

However, Sumire didn't know that Runa wasn't as forthcoming as she seemed to be. Of course, Runa stated the obvious, letting the purple-haired girl know that Haruki knows water style, earth style, and even crystal style jutsu.

She never told her about Haruki's wood-style though, some family secrets are meant to stay secrets.

Sumire pivoted her foot, finally turning around to take a good look at Haruki. Prepared with the knowledge she thinks she has on Haruki, Sumire felt confident that she could brush this fight aside and finally complete her mission.

The smile on Sumire's expression didn't drop even after taking a look at Haruki's doll-like face. She wasn't going to lie, She was a little shaken up by the look in Haruki's eyes.

However, she wouldn't let the Kinda creepy look unnerve her, she had a serious mission to complete and threats without substance don't matter to her.

Haruki did not say a single word, but instead calmly reached out one un-gloved hand. Sumire's breath lightly hitched as she watched a spear of crystal, sharp enough to pierce nearly any surface encased Haruki's arm.

The iridescent crystal glittered underneath the moonlight spectacularly, it was almost as if it were meant to be shown during the night time more so during the day to display its true beauty.

Although it was beautiful, Sumire couldn't help but notice the poisons interlaced within the crystal that she could only sense due to her father's extreme training from years prior.

Plus, anyone with a basic understanding of crystal style kekkei genkai would know that attacks normally go hand in hand with poisons.

Of course Haruki would work with poisons in her crystals, she's a descendant of the Oshiro clan after all. Sumire thought to herself.

"Do you really think I wouldn't kill you?" Haruki asked. She was calm, almost too calm.

Haruki really didn't care much for the idea of actually killing Sumire, she's still Haruki after all. The fact that she would even go to the lengths she's currently in is extreme enough for her personal character!

However, if Sumire still posed a threat by the end of this, she'd be forcing Haruki's hand and the white haired Uchiha would not hesitate to push the envelope.

Haruki would not regret killing somebody for the sake of the people she loves.

Sumire's eyes narrowed. She didn't answer Haruki, watching with hesitance as the young Uchiha took her time in stepping forward.

It was almost unnerving, how Haruki could turn stone-faced so easily, revealing the face of a porcelain doll that had Sumire clenching her jaw out of weariness.

She already guessed Haruki had this side to her, but it didn't mean seeing it in person wasn't any less threatening!

"Does this scare you?" Haruki asked, raising her arm encased in crystal. Sumire's eyes narrowed, eyeing the glittering stone before shaking her head. "No, it doesn't."

Haruki shrugged yet again, but Sumire noticed the way the corners of her lips quirked up slightly. Was it out of amusement? Disbelief? Exasperation? Sumire couldn't tell.

"Yeah, you shouldn't be scared of something like this, it isn't really much."

Isn't really much? That thing could murder an unlucky soul with a single slice-

Before Sumire could even react, giant spears of sparkling iridescent crystal emerge from the ground, encasing the two in a sort of dome within the blink of an eye.

Sumire recoiled a bit in shock, unable to conceal her expression as she gazed up at the large impenetrable dome.

She needed to stay calm, as long as she had Nue she was positive she would win, she thought to herself.

Haruki frowned, her bangs creating a sort of shadow over her dark glittering eyes.

"Sumire, you intend to hurt the people of my village, my friends, and my family." She claimed, shaking her head.

Haruki flashed before Sumire's eyes, appearing in front of her with a speed Sumire didn't think Haruki possessed.

"And you think I'm just gonna let you go through with it? You must've misjudged me. I am not a pushover." She muttered, grabbing onto Sumire's throat and slamming her to the ground.

Sumire gasped, quite literally caught off guard as Haruki quickly got on top of her and landed a hard-hitting punch to her jawline.

With her head snapped to the side from the collision, Sumire quickly shook herself out of her shock-induced haze.

She never took Haruki to be such a....physical fighter. In fact, resorting to literally beating the crap out of anybody was the last route Sumire expected her to take!

Haruki didn't let up, pinning Sumire down whilst simultaneously sending harsh blows to her face. Sumire, not one to be beat around like some sort of rag doll grit her teeth.

She grabbed onto the collar of Haruki's shirt and headbutted her, only to 'tsk' when Haruki remained barely phased.

Her head was snapped upwards from the head-but, and yet she found the strength to easily regroup and elbow Sumire's jaw and slam her back onto the ground once more.

The ground around them broke to pieces a bit due to the force exerted in that push and created some debris.

With Haruki clearly in control of the fight, on top of Sumire with her hand gripping Sumire's throat, the class rep's mind was running wild with strategies and ways to get out of this.

Sumire was by no means weak nor was she an idiot, but it seemed like she severely underestimated Haruki by a long shot.

She's clearly been undermining her talents in class, letting people win during spars, and sticking by her sister's side during fitness tests.

'Damn! I should've known she was hiding something!' Sumire thought to herself, stealthily grabbing a kunai from her pocket and stabbing through Haruki's arm with it.

If only she knew Haruki had yet to show her even a fraction of her playing cards.

To Sumire's absolute horror, Haruki froze with the kunai in her arm and slowly turned to look at it, if anything, she winced a bit at the sight of the kunai wedged in her arm and blood trickling down her pale skin.

But for the most part Haruki looked.....Unphased. Just a small 'ow!' Coming from her lips, looking at the blade as if it were just a small pinch on her arm.

'I've been through worse training with mom.' Haruki mentally noted, shaking her head a bit.

Haruki's impaled arm remained grasped around Sumire's throat, and Sumire watched hesitantly at Haruki's free hand grabbed onto the kunai and ripped it out as if it wasn't bleeding all over the place.

"I gotta admit, that stung a bit," Haruki claimed, twirling the bloody kunai with her free hand before stabbing it right next to Sumire's head, eliciting a small gasp from the class rep.

'She can't be human!' Sumire thought to herself, eyeing the bloodied arm fearfully, nearly gawking at the sight of the wound starting to close up on its own.

"You tried to look up my mom, didn't you? But her information was locked away so you couldn't possibly know I could do this." Haruki spoke breathily, gesturing towards the self healing wound much to Haruki's surprise.

"How'd you know?!"

"You weren't surprised at all by my crystal style, and it's either because you figured out I already got it on my own or somebody told you. Either way you were anticipating this, but you didn't think I had much more to offer." The words came off of Haruki's lips fluidly, more accusatory than questioning.

Sumire could only take a deep breath and nod slowly "Well, do you dumb down your test scores as well? Because I never took you to be such a critical thinker." She claimed shakily, gritting her teeth at Haruki's dark stare.

"It's clear that you know absolute jack shit about me no matter how much you think you do." Haruki deadpanned, quirking a brow at Sumire.

Sumire's purple eyes trailed over Haruki's arm, nearly choking on thin air out of surprise at the sight of the almost completely healed up wound.

"To be fair, I don't know you either. All I know is that you deserve hell." Haruki claimed, scowling down at Sumire.

"You wouldn't understand me Haruki, I've lived until today in order to do what my father couldn't!" She exclaimed, finding the force to pry Haruki's hand away from her throat.

"I was created for my father's vengeance!" The words tumbled out of her lips in exasperation. Haruki quirked a brow, tilting her head at the claims.

"You have a shitty dad." She claimed bluntly before

She then scoffed, eyeing the girl beneath her with disdain. "You think I care more about your failed father than my own family? I'm not a charity worker."

She sighed, looking up at the sky through the sparkling crystal dome she created. She blinked up at the moon for a moment, wondering if her father were currently looking at the same starry sky wherever he was.

Of course, the thoughts were fleeting, and she found herself glaring back down at Sumire.

"I don't give a shit about your backstory Sumire, what I do care about, however-" She pulled on Sumire's hair and twisted her body around so that she's stomach down, facing the direction of the village's hospital.

"Is that my baby brother is in that building, and that mutt that you planted in my own clan's park would've killed him had it not been for the adults barricading it." Haruki seethed.

Sumire gritted her teeth and looked away, guilt eating at her for the harsh reality, but the conflicting emotions of fulfilling her father's wish had her stumped.

"Haruki you don't get it-"

"I don't have to get anything! You need to stop that monster-!"

"Your father is never home! Runa told me all about it, how would you understand the bond between a father and daughter when you barely even know your own dad?!"

Wrong move.

Haruki instantly saw red, swiftly turning Sumire on her back, grasping onto Sumire's hair, yanking her upwards, and using her free arm to land a hard hitting punch on Sumire's mouth, knocking her back down to the ground with a loud 'thud!!".

"You think you know me from the bullshit Runa spews? News flash, Runa doesn't know what goes through my head either!" Haruki's voice was trembling, and Sumire couldn't help but gulp wearily.

She clearly hit a sore spot.

Sumire's mouth was bleeding lightly from the impact of

"You're wrong, he's not in my life every day but he loves me. You on the other hand, all your dad used you for was for his own pathetic failures. We are not the same." Haruki seethed, eyes boring down into Sumire's face.

Sumire recoiled as far as she could, intimidated by Haruki's sudden and very intense shift in demeanor. Haruki was upset before but this- this is very new.

Haruki, embroiled in Sumire's claims, clenched her fists and looked away from her, holding herself back from literally beating this girl to death, she was that pissed.

Sumire clenched her jaw, this was it, her opening! A very slim opening at that, Sumire knew since she hit a nerve she had to tread carefully, Haruki became more and more unpredictable the longer she was exposed to this battle environment.

With Haruki rather distracted, Sumire used a wave of pent-up energy she had been storing to skillfully release herself from Haruki's grip and swiftly stand up.

Haruki's dark eyes widened for a bit, still kneeling on the floor as Sumire backed up, creating a massive distance between the two.

Haruki clearly didn't like the move as her eyes narrowed. She swiftly weaved hand signs, causing the ground beneath them to start rumbling and shifting around.

Now off-balance, Sumire grit her teeth.

This was bad, she couldn't let Haruki get the upper hand again!
