Caspian's pov
Now the question that has been bugging me for the whole night.
"Ehm so ..."
Don't ask. Don't ask. Fucking don't ask.
You will ruin the meal.
"Did you have a lot of exes?" I ask.
Oh. You are a fucking idiot.
I just crushed my own evening.
He looks up to me shocked. "What?"
"Well, since this is a date. And I figured we will try to continue.
I want to know."
"Is it ...important?"
"It's not personal. I ask that everyone. I like to know before hand.
I think it's only fair to know person's history like this. "
He thinks. "Define exes."
I blink. "And what other categories are out there?"
"Well, you have people who you went on like two lunches and it didn't work out.
Then you have relationships lasting minimum a month.
And then people who you hook up with.
Shit. Sorry. I'm making this even worse."
"Oh." I drink my champagne. "Well, then all of it.
You can still give out the numbers."
"It would be better not to.
I don't care about my past."
"I can tell you mine after. I want to know.
I think people should be honest about these things.
It tells you a lot about a person."
"Yeah, that's the problem. I'm not how it looks. Really." He sighs. "Okay.
So, meeting that didn't work out. Since high school till now. A lot of years.
About eight.
Then real relationship. I think, seven.
And then others. I mean I don't really keep a count. It was even serious. Maybe twenty or ..."
"You had sex with thirty people?" I look at him shocked.
"Yes. Maybe. But-"
"I had about three relationships and I slept with like four people in total."

"Oh. " He rubs his neck, "sorry. I had a rough dating life.
Does that put you off?
I promise I'm not a cheater or anything. I swear on my life.
You can ask Ira."
"I'm not thinking you are a cheater, Dion but you clearly ...have more experiences."
"I don't care about that.
It's not about that.
I don't even care about my exes. Just forget them.
Really. I care about you. "
Thirty people ?
What do I even have they didn't? That's impossible.
How can I even be special to him.
"Don't see me as a player.
I was just always popular. People just like my looks and money.
I like relationship. I don't like being alone.
And I do take it seriously."
"I'm just shocked. I didn't expect it.
What do you even see in me?"
"You are so different. Your job.
A hard working lawyer.
Living alone to be independent.
Caring for someone like he's your own brother.
Being honest. Straight forward.
Not being scared to say your opinion.
So many qualities.
I don't compare you to anyone.
If you are asking why the number is so high ... some women made me believe they love me but took my money.
Some men loved me but they were too obsessed with me.
Sometimes you want different things. Someone wants marriage, kids and big house and the other his career and traveling.
It's hard being young and in the spot light of media.
You cannot agree with me seeing people for sex but I always told them it's just that.
Nothing more. I didn't use them, they knew, agreed and I treated them with respect.
There is difference between sex for need and sex for passion.
Passion is for a relationship.
Need is just ...a human thing.

I'm sorry you are thinking weird things about me."
"No. I don't want to judge.
But it's hard to feel confident with such competition."
"There is no competition. I'm not comparing.
You are your own person."
" Well I'm not a gold digger. I don't get obsessed with people and I'm not craving being father now if that makes you feel better."
"It does. Thank you."
"I don't hook up with people. I like passion."
"Understand."
"And I really don't want to be number nine."
"I hope you won't be. I'm not the one putting you there." He smiles.
" I'm looking for a serious thing right now. "
"So am I, Caspian. You are not another number.
You are a beautiful person sitting in front of me."
I smile. "I hope you are not a player.
Asa would kill you.
And I would be his lawyer ."
"I'm not one. The last time I had sex was on the day of the first hearing.
The person knew how it is. And I just needed to get off the stress.
I didn't meet up or talk to anyone since.
So, you can do your math."
He didn't see anyone since he's trying to get me.
"Right." I nod, "will we get a dessert?"
"What ever you want."

The Stormcrow Cycle
Once a powerful and lauded witch, Ba'an salu-Ba'an now lives alone in a cave in the desert, waiting to die. When she rescues an outlander from certain death she becomes embroiled in a deadly game of politics and empire, of heart and soul, but worst of all--of hope and love and a chance at a peaceful future. Can a disgraced witch find a reason to live her life again--and if so, what price must she pay? The Stormcrow Cycle is a trilogy comprising of The Exile, The Lion, and Abomination. Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!
