You were late. Beyond late that it was a miracle to realize Scarlett had actually waited for you. Before entering the restaurant, you took a quick deep breath to calm yourself as you always did whenever you were around her and made your way inside.

"Scarlett.. I'm so sorry I was late. I hadn't realized how quickly time went by and didn't have a chance to send you a message."

Scarlett looked up to find you with a clear guilty expression. She had originally planned to be upset with you but seeing you made her crumble. She was always a sucker for you.

"It's fine. You were hardly even late."

She added mainly to reassure herself. You were never late to any of your dinner or lunch dates but after meeting your costar from your new film, you would always be late for one reason or another. Scarlett would force herself to not be jealous by it seeing as to she had no reason to be. She was clearly your best friend and no one could replace her.

Except as the weeks went by, you would hang out with him more than Scarlett. Always giving her excuses that you would be practicing scenes or lines with him. She never said anything as it was legitimate reasons and she again had no right to be jealous. It's not like she was dating you. Despite how much she wanted to be your girlfriend, she was only your best friend. Scarlett never said anything in fear of losing your friendship. She truly loved you and it would just break her if she allowed her feelings to ruin a friendship like yours. Although, she couldn't help but think it would totally be worth it.

"Right. Did you already order?"

"I did. I hope you don't mind but I ordered your favorite. I could get you something else if you'd like."

"No, it's quite alright. Thank you."

The two of you began to discuss some new films that both of you had been wanting to audition as well as the latest Hollywood gossip. Even though you both seemed like the two of you were really into the convention, it was clear to everyone else that you both of your minds were somewhere else. Scarlett kept thinking about how she wanted to bring up the picture you took with your costar before you came over and you kept gushing about how cute Scarlett was and much you wished the two of you would date. Your costar had been the only person that knew about your gigantic crush on her and he would constantly encourage you to tell her. He had been telling you since the beginning of the year and at first you had refused but lately you had been thinking about asking her out.

There was suddenly a quiet moment and you both used it as an opportunity to bring up what you had both been thinking about.

"Are you dating Chris?"

"Will you go out with me?"

Both of you managed to hear each other's questions and again spoke in unison.

"Wait what?"

Your nerves suddenly went away and you couldn't help but laugh. Of course, Scarlett would think you would be dating someone that was already out.

"No. I'm not dating Chris. He has a loving boyfriend and I would hate to get in the way of them."

Scarlett suddenly felt so stupid for everything that she had been thinking about. The only reason why she wasn't wishing for the earth to open up and take her was because of the fact that you had asked her out.

"Oh wow. I had no idea. I feel like an idiot now."

"You shouldn't. It's not something he shoves in people's faces. He mainly keeps it on the down low."

"Right. I'll be sending him an apology basket then. Anyways... did you really mean to ask me out."

"Of course! Why wouldn't I mean it?"

"I don't know. I'm just overthinking things. I would love to go out on a date with you."

You took her hands in yours.

"It's a date then! I can't wait to plan out a perfect first date. I've honestly been thinking about it for the longest time."

"Really?"

"Yep! I've had the biggest crush on you for the longest time but had been to afraid to tell you anything."

"I really should thank Chris. Otherwise we would both be pinning after the other and being jealous for no reason."

"Jealous of Chris? I really can't wait to tell him about this."

"(y/n)... I swear to god. This stays between us or I won't go on a date with you."

"I was kidding!"
