Summary: The two of you meet during a charity event.

You loved helping out. Most of your free time was spent helping out some of your favorite charities. You volunteered too many times that everyone in charge already knew you by name.

This was actually your first time working on a project yourself that you were quite nervous. You made charts and diagrams showing who will be working on what based on what they had wrote down on their application. The volunteers seemed to be much bigger in this project than the previous ones but you didn't care. All you knew that the more volunteers were in on this then the quicker the house will be finished.

"Good morning everyone!"

No one seemed to pay attention to you as you started. They seemed to be focused on something, more like someone but you couldn't tell who it was. It annoyed you but you couldn't let it get to you. The organization chose you for this project and you wanted to prove to them that you could get it done.

"Excuse me?! If anyone here is not ready to start working on this project then I need you to leave. A family depends on us to finish this home for them."

This made the crowd quiet down and allowed you to start giving directions for what was needed to be done. A line was formed in front of you for the volunteers that signed up last minute.

"Name?"

You asked while looking directly at the person that had seemed to catch the attention to most of the volunteers.

"Oh uh, Katie McGrath."

"Anything you want to work on?"

"Not really. I can work on anything."

Something must have thrown her off as she walked off with a confused look. It was quite strange for you but you didn't pay attention to it. You still had more volunteers to get through.

After getting through the list, you noticed that most of the volunteers had circled around the Katy girl. You pushed through the crowd, forcing them to step back to give the girl space. You weren't sure why they were bothering her and you didn't want to know.

"This is strike two. I will send you off and ban you from entering the location if you so much as bother her. Go back to your stations."

"Thank you." She whispered to you."

You gave her a smile and nodded, going back to what you had been doing.

Throughout the week, you would have to ban various volunteers from the organization as they didn't listen to your warning and kept bothering Katie. You rarely bothered to learn the names of the people who just started volunteering as they never stuck around. Katie, had actually come back for next day and the next that you felt bad for not remembering it.

The two of you had developed a friendship while working on the house. For lunch, she would sit with you and talk about the strangest things. You came to realize that you quite enjoyed these talks with her.

The last few days, you brought over extra lunch for her as she loved the bites you had given for her to try. Truthfully, you didn't want for the project to end. You wanted to keep spending time with her but you weren't sure if she wanted to.

It was the last day, the house only needed a few more finishing touches. The rest of the day had been reserved for a small party as a thank you for the volunteers that helped out. This gave a chance for most of the volunteers to bombard Katie to ask for pictures and her signature. This confused, you had no idea why they were asking her for them and it made you want to look up why.

The moment you realized that Katie was actually famous, you felt dumb for not knowing.

Katie finally came over after taking pictures and signing things for the volunteers.

"Lena Luthor, huh?"

"Oh, you found out?"

"I did and I'm sorry. I truly did not know about you. I hardly spent my time watching anything on tv."

She can't help but laugh. It was perfect. She didn't want someone to only get close to her for the fact that she was famous. Katie just wanted to live a normal life.

"You have nothing to be sorry for. I quite liked not being recognized."

"You did?"

"Mhm. It's nice being able to step away from that life. Maybe we should do this volunteering together again. I liked spending time with you.

"I would love to. I always come to volunteer during the weekends."

"Then I'll be here."

She bit her lip and moved closer to you. Letting her fingers trail up your arm.

"Maybe we can meet up much sooner? Say, tomorrow for dinner? I'm quite interested on learning more about the selfless (y/n) (l/n)."

"And I'm quite interested on learning about the famous Katie McGrath. I'll have dinner with you."

She kissed your cheek and headed out. You watched her walk back to her car and then turned away when you noticed her look back to you. She laughed and blew you a kiss, making you blush at her actions. Volunteering does have its benefits.
