it's been a long, long time.

"you went blonde!" you pointed out abruptly, holding off one of the strange aliens that had made their way to wanda and vision. you had to protect them, it was your job as an avenger. he had the mind stone, and these weird aliens were trying to get it. and along the way, you had met up with nat, steve, and sam, who had been undercover for all these years.

"not the right time, l/n!" natasha replied, shoving the alien's rod back into it's stomach.

"wow, i'm hurt!" you remarked sarcastically, dodging another one's attacks. "after everything we've been through, i would've thought we'd be on a first-name basis."

and even though the world was on the verge of ending, natasha felt like she was back at the compound, dancing with you in the living room until her feet hurt, hugging you from behind at unexpected moments, and kissing your cheek before she left for a mission.

it had been too long since she got to feel those things again. it had been too long since she had experienced true love.
