《Taking My Heart (Completed)》46. Throwing On Gloves

I walk in the clinic after unlocking the door. Best thing to do is focus back on all the animals that need me and I have a booked schedule.

"Morning sunshine!" Jovi pops his head around the corner.

"Morning, I brought coffee." I smile and lay his down.

"Uh, the life saver you are. When I came back yesterday evening to stay, had one of the mom sheperds give birth." Jovi sighs and takes the coffee.

"The boarder that the owners claim to have not known she was pregnant and still supposedly hasn't came back from their vacation, sheperd?" I shake my head.

"That is the one. She had some problems with the last pup and I had to assist."

"So you, my friend, have been up all night."

"Oh yeah, considering last pup popped out finally almost two hours ago and I have got a little naps in here and there." Jovi nods.

"Well tonight is mine to stay." I smile and hold up the bag of food.

"Did I say you was a life saver earlier? Well girl, you done went up and became more!" Jovi takes a biscuit out. "At least it wasn't Lola that stayed because she still would've had to call one of us in to be here during that event."

I put my purse in my desk and look over a few papers. "Do you think I need to hire an assistant or another vet?"

Jovi sits on the cot and sighs. "I don't think so. I mean the three of us love staying over and honestly it does wonders for me because I am not stuck at home all the time."

"What about your boyfriend?" I smirk.

"He is nice but it is not love and I wonder if it will turn in to be I mean he is a worker and I love my job here. It is just neither of us is fighting to spend time together. It seems more of a beneficial relationship type and not love. Or should I say the true love I see between you and Shane. Now that is a love I will wait for and they always say it comes when least expecting it."

I nod slowly. "That is very true. I was not looking at all and then there was Shane literally an emergency call and just clicked something inside of me."

A few moments of silence pass by. "That look right there girl, is what I want."

"I second that motion." Lola laughs from the side.

"Hey sis! When did you get in?" I look over to her." Food and your weird morning drink is over there. Stinks you can't drink coffee just like Gram." I laugh.

"Please no coffee! Lola you have more than enough spunk without the extra excess caffiene." Jovi gets dramatic, but then again Lola is like Gram's if she drinks it.

"I came in right when you were talking about Shane. By the way, he is definitely brother-in-law material." Lola smirks.

"I can agree with her. He could put up with all of our crazies yesterday at Gram's. Heck he even joined in some too." Jovi laughs.

"You both did not plan that! I knew something seemed off an over the top. That was a test wasn't it?" I shake my head.

"Hey, we have to see if he can put up with all of us. We may not be a large family but we can be crazy fun at times." Lola smiles wide.

Lola goes to the front and unlocks the door then begins her normal thing.

"You try to get some rest. I see your schedule is clear for a couple of hours." I get up from the chair and watch as Fluffier walks over to lay beside Jovi. "Looks like you got company."

"Some of the best too." Jovi laughs.

I walk out to the front and Oreo is laying by Lola's feet.

"These are the ones you will be seeing this morning. A couple of yearly's, then there is one to have stitches removed from her spayed you done not to long ago."

"Is that the one that had to come in after the spayed to make sure there wasn't an infection? Jovi had told me about that while I was in Friday doing paperwork."

Lola nods. "Yes and there wasn't any infection. Come to find out after various tests and things Jovi found out the other female dog the owners had was in heat and she was laying in it." Lola barely gets out.

"That is gross." I scrunch up my nose.

"Yeah, so now that one is in the surgeries within the next few months."

"Thanks. It is best to wait until in the middle of the heat cycle sometimes, depending on age and how many the female has had. Let's hope the owners were able to keep her seperated from any males." I shake my head.

The morning seems to fly by and I am tending to animals that need my help. Jovi seems to be able to get some rest and is tending to his schedule even though I offered to do some of his to where he could sleep more.

That is something I don't get is how little sleep some people need. I felt like a zombie when I barely got any over a two day span. I kind of wonder what to do tonight if things start back up. First, I need to be positive. Second, I may just sleep in one of Shane's shirts he left.

When lunch rolls around, a lady pulls up and it was the screeching of her tires that caught my attention from the desk where I was talking with Lola.

"Can you help me? I have the animal in my truck. I swear I didn't see it. It just ran out in front of my truck." The lady rushes out after running into the clinic.

I run around from the desk and can tell the lady is crying.

"It is okay? I need you to take a deep breath for me. Can you tell me what type of animal it is?" I ask her, as Lola runs up with gloves and the quick kit.

"I-I don't know honestly." She stutters.

"That is okay. Can you take me to the animal in your truck?" I ask her just to make sure.

"Yes right this way." She runs back outside and I follow behind.

Jovi hearing everything is running out from the back and is right with us throwing on gloves himself.
