《Taking My Heart (Completed)》43. Keep Practicing

Samantha and I enjoy a nice lunch meal together with plenty of talking and laughing. It feels perfect, nothing is forced between us in the least.
We get in the car and I drive down the road turning on the strip with loads of stores.
"Could we get the semi before going back home? It feels weird knowing it is not at the house." Samantha looks over at me when I park the car.
"Sure. It does feel off and leaving it at the rental place. I just don't like that anything can happen to it."
"It is locked up right?" She takes my hand with being outside the car.
"Oh yeah." I jingle the chain around my neck. "Keys are on here with the padlock key." I smirk.
"That is still I think the only weird thing about you, is how you keep the keys with you." Samantha teases.
"Well I still have these that I haven't brought myself to take off." I pull out the chain.
"I seen them before everytime we are well you know." She whispers and gets a closer look.
"It is one of my dog tags and one of my brothers. They found them. I kept one and gave my parents the second one." I sigh and tuck them back under my shirt.
"It's good though Shane. You always keep a piece of him with you that is physical to touch. Not just in your heart and memories." Samantha rubs my shoulder, while leaning into me.
"Have I told you how amazing you are with words?" I kiss the top of her head.
"Yes you have." She smiles lightly.
I kiss her lips this time quickly. She always knows just what to say. It just seems to be a natural for her to do.

"So this date includes stores?" Samantha smirks.
"Well I want to walk around and show off my beautiful woman. Plus, I want to buy you things. Also I figure we can shop and see what may be good for our new house. I wasn't thinking we would have a house already to shop for when I thought of this idea but it just makes it even better. I want our date to be different from the normal, just like how we met and fell in love."
"It is perfect. Plus, I rather watch a movie at the house together because we can pause it to do things or talk through it and not disturb anyone else if we had went to a theater." She laughs.
"I can agree with you there. Also the loud sounds can get to be to much." I sigh.
"Never even thought about that and what an action movie could do for you in a theater!" Samantha turns her head up and looks at me shocked.
"I hadn't even tried going to a theater since honestly. I can watch things with explosions and such, but I am prepared for it. The volume theaters have is so much more. Many others have tried and said it messed with them because it is so loud in a theater that it is seems to make the mind play tricks."
"Well we won't be going to one. We can wait until it is out for us to watch at home if there is a movie that catches our attention." Samantha rather puts her foot down on the matter.
We walk in the store and Tanker is in between us as we walk.
"Where do we start looking first?" She looks at me.
"All up to you. I would suggest a larger bed since we have the room with the new house."

Together we walk over the to the beds. One by one we feel the mattresses.
"I like this one the best. It is not overly soft but not a stiff board either." She smiles.
I nod and agree. "What head boards though?" I look at them.
"Is there any you like?" She looks at me.
"Uh, maybe something like this?" I point to a wooden head board with designs craved out.
"That is very nice and I like the dark cherry wood color."
We go around and pick out many little odds and ends for decorations. I notice she is more on the neutral tones, that give more of the homey vibe while being simple. Nothing she picks out is the expensive looking piece but just a nice modest look.
"The only thing I ask for is lamps. Something about lamps I love because they are not overly bright but just the soft glow." Samantha looks to me.
I nod and agree once again. There are a few pieces that are back order when we talk with a sales person and I go on and buy them. Those items will be delivered within four weeks time. Which are a couple of end tables, new couch and chair for the living room, then our head board.
"You know one thing we hadn't looked at?" Samantha looks up to me.
"What's that?"
"Well two things actually. Sheets for the bed and a kitchen table. I don't have a table just stool for the bar attached to the kitchen counter." She laughs.
"We definitely need a table because I don't have one in storage and the new house doesn't have a bar area." I chuckle.
We walk over to the where the dining room furniture is and some are just plain weird or ugly. How can you eat on something so hard or look creepy?
"What all do you have in storage?" She asks after a bit.
"Mainly clothes and just personal items that I kept from my parents when I packed everything up before going on the road. With the way things happened, I was pretty sure they would have thrown everything out of mine. I do have a bed and some furniture in storage. The mattress is wasted but the frame is in good shape."
"Maybe we can use it for a spare bedroom?" She asks.
"Sure, sounds great to me. I thought the rooms would be full of five munchins?" I laugh.
She laughs. "I just said that to see what your reaction would be. Honestly, I can maybe see one but I am not in a rush. I know everyone says not to wait but I am healthy and not even thirty yet, so to me I still have plenty of time to have one or two. How many do you want?"
"I can see a couple." I smile and kiss her lips.
"We may not be ready to have kids but we can keep practicing." She whispers in my ear.
"Oh, my love, that is the fun part. At least you're on birth control." I laugh and kiss her cheek.
We pick out a table set and have it sent to be delivered with everything else.
