《Taking My Heart (Completed)》39. Chase Her Fears

When I placed the food order the guy said it could be an hour by time it gets here or more due to the high amount of orders they have today. I am fine with that because it means that right now Samantha gets a good head start to a nap.
Something she really needs. With her laying on me, I can see her face clearer with the lights the way they are from the tv screen. I can see just how tired she has been from the last two nights of barely there sleep.
Sleep is someething I have adapted to not have to need so much of. It is true for me that most sleep I have got at once is when I have been with Samantha but still it seems like I can't sleep over seven hours tops. Which for me is a large amount, considering I have gone years on a maybe three hours tops at once. That is the first thing I noticed with Samantha from the night I stopped her from being carried off and slept in the same bed as her.
I smirk looking at the table where she got up after being comfortable to lay cash down for the food. I know she was upset about the date, but I meant every word I said about doing it tomorrow.
Her health means so much to me and right now sleep is what she needs. I could about kick myself if I would have taken her out on a date tonight in the shape she is in. Being on the low side of sleep makes her more vulnerable and how her sass was no where to be seen.
The doorbell goes off but Samantha does not so much as flinch. Poor Tanker and Oreo raise their heads up with the chiming that sounds.
Gently, I move my arms around her to pick her up off my lap with how she was laying on me all but with her legs stretched out. Laying her on the couch, I walk to the door.
"Hi, I got the order that was placed." A young man smiles.
"Thank you." I nod with a small smile and pull my wallet out.

Handing him a the cash along with a generious tip, I take the bag of food.
"Have a nice day." I say before moving to close the door, as he walks away.
"You too man. Thanks!" He waves and bounces down the steps.
With the door closed, I put the food on the kitchen table and move over to the fur babies food bowls. Samantha still has the one Tanker used out. So, I grab three cans from where I seen them when here the last time and grab the can opener to the side. After opening all three cans, I place Fluffier's bowl first since it is one for cats before I do both of the pups food.
Since they are eating, I wash my hands and get two plates from the cabinet. I get the food put on them and walk back to the couch.
I squat down in front of Samantha where she is still sleeping. This is hard because I feel torn in a way, she needs to sleep but also to eat. Right now she is seeming to sleep so peacefully.
"Hey sweet girl. The food is here." I whisper and rub her arm.
Samantha's eyes open slowly and she looks at me with a smile. "Hi." She yawns.
"Hey, the food is here. I got the plates ready. Do you want me to eat here or at the counter?"
"The counter. I may snuggle up to you again if we ate here and end up falling asleep instead of eating." She gives a tired smile.
I laugh a little at her face, before helping her up. It brings me a great sense of pride that she at least got a good start to sleep.
"They are eating." Samantha smiles seeing all three of them at their food bowls chowing down.
"I knew you wouldn't eat until they were and I tend to be the same with Tanker. It makes sense to feed them first." I smile.
I lay her money on the counter in front of us and she stares at it. Something travels across her face.
"You will be getting that money, trucker." She mumbles before putting a bite of food in her mouth.

I laugh and join her in eating waiting until she had started. This is a really good combination since I got the same as she had.
We eat in silence and I notice her movements getting slower and slower, as her eyes seem to start trying to close on their own.
"I am full." She whispers.
"I will tend to the dishes and clean up. Just point me to where your bowls are so I can pack yours up for leftovers." I rub her back.
Samantha points to the doors next to fridge on the top.
"I will get it sweet girl. Why don't you lay down in bed and I will be there soon?" I kiss her cheek.
Samantha nods and kisses me on the lips. "I am just going to brush my teeth first. If it is to cold in here for you just turn up the thermostat. I had it so low because I knew when I went to sleep what could happen and didn't know you was coming in today. I love my surprise with you being here early. I feel awful for being like this." She sighs.
"There is nothing for you to be sorry about. That is a promise." I kiss her head and she walks to the bedroom.
I take the last few bites of my food. Standing from the stool, I go to the bedroom door and see her asleep in bed already. I smile and go back to the kitchen, it doesn't take me long to pack her food in a bowl and clean up from what we used.
I grab the keys from the tray by the door and run out to the rental to grab my duffel. Once back inside, I make sure the door is locked and let all of the animals out to the fenced in area to do their night potty. When they are back in I lock this door as well and go to the master bathroom.
While pulling up a clean pair of boxers, I start hearing whimpers from the room. I step out and see Tanker running in, he whines and looks to Samantha. She is thrashing around in the bed.
I step over to her quickly and bend down. Right when her hand shoots out to me, I move. "Hey sweet girl, you need to wake up for me." I try to gently talk.
Samantha sits up in the bed quickly, her breathing coming out shallow. As tears fall down her face.
"Hey, you're okay. You're okay. You are safe." I move and sit beside her on the bed, my arms going around her to embrace her gently.
Samantha's arms wrap around me tightly in a desperate cling. My hand moves through her hair as I keep letting her know she is safe. After a few minutes she calms.
"I am so sorry." She stutters.
"Look at me Samantha." I put a finger under her chin and she looks me in the eyes.
I can tell her removed the makeup and just how dark the circles are under her eyes now from the little sleep. It has put her under so much stress in just two days, makes my chest physcially hurt.
"There is nothing you have to apologize for. I am here and will keep you safe with everything I have. I will chase all the negative things away that has happened in your life. Let me carry the fears." I kiss her cheeks and wipe away the few tears.
She nods and leans on me. I pick her up until her legs wrap around me and I turn off the bathroom light to where only the bedside lamp is left on. I sit on the bed and throw my legs up as she stays straddle of me. Sliding us down in the bed, I wrap my arms around her and kiss her head.
I listen as her breathing levels out and I am not sure how long I lay here listening to her until darkness starts to consume me. I will do anything I can to chase her fears and terrors away for the rest of my life. In such a short time, this woman has became my world.
