《Taking My Heart (Completed)》37. Feels Like Home

"I am so happy and proud of you Samantha." Gram whispers in my ear.
I pull back and look at Gram. "I haven't done anything to make you proud of me."
Gram laughs and pulls me into the house. We sit on the couch together, while she takes my hand.
"There is many things for me to be proud of you with. First you helped your mom after your father left. You got a job and helped to pay bills even though your mom knows it was you, even with the sweet helper sign you put on it. After you put yourself through college and got the clinic. Now even better my first grandaughter found love and listen to me on this." Gram has tears in her eyes, as she cups my cheek in her hand.
"Gram I listen to you all the time. To me you're the smartest person ever." I move and lay my head on her shoulder.
The front door opens and Mom walks in.
"Hey baby girl." Mom leans down and kisses my head.
"Hi Mom." I smile at her while I still lay on Gram.
"Don't tell me this guy. Shane? Already got you upset." Mom looks at me hard.
I sit up and shake my head. "No, Mom not at all. I do love him so much that with him gone over the road it feels like my heart is with him."
"I was just telling Samantha how proud I am of her." Gram tells Mom.
"I am so proud of you too baby girl. Everything you have accomplished and thanks to Gram with how you have always listened to her, you have finally opened your heart up to someone." Mom sits beside me now too.
"For the longest, I thought I couldn't trust a guy." I sigh. "Then Shane came along and I felt so confused until Gram helped."

"I am glad the right man has came along. Not all of them are like your father and I should have seen it years before but then I wouldn't have had you or your sister." Mom pulls me to her.
I enjoy both Gram's and Mom's hugs. They truly are the best.
"I am so sorry if I haven't been around, but I just threw myself into work after the divorce. Makes things easier when the mind is busy." Mom sighs.
"Never have I thought anything bad about it Mom. Lola and I have always been happy with our lives." I smile.
We talk about a lot and Gram told Mom all about when Shane was here with me. Mom is excited to meet with Shane and I have a feeling he may be nervous again just like he was with Gram. Together, Mom and I cook with Gram.
I texted Lola letting her know but she is so excited about this new decorating that she is working on. There is still times I say she should be a deisgner with how excited she gets with it all.
Dinner tastes amazing like it always does at Gram's and I help clean up. At Gram's house it is a wash dishes by hand to make sure everything is spick and span. I don't mind though because it is more time spent more time with Gram.
Oreo and Fluffier are in the car while I wave to Gram. Mom is staying a little longer with her and I love to see how Mom is with Gram while she isn't working. She is so relaxed when with Gram.
I start the car and set up the bluetooth speaker before I pull out of her driveway. Looking off to the left, I see traffic is backed up. I dial Shane's number and turn to the right to take the longer way home but it is a way I don't go but rarely.

Something feels right about going this way tonight though.
"Hello, little paws. How was it with Gram?" Shane's voice bellows through my car as if he is sitting next to me.
"It was so lovely like always. How are you doing?"
"Driving down the road. Boring honestly but getting there little paws." Shane let's out a little sigh.
"Why the sigh?" I smirk as I turn down a side road.
"Because I don't have an incredibly smart, kind, and sexy woman beside me this time. Someone I wish I could be in bed with at this exact moment."
"Such a shame considering this woman would be lucky to be sitting next to a handsome trucker such as yourself." I play along with a smile on my face.
The speed limit drops and I see a for sale sign by owner by one driveway. I slow down and beautiful trees catch my attention. I glance back and see no one is behind me so I turn my blinker on and pull in the driveway.
I gasp and touch my brakes to stop the car at the end of the driveway.
"What's wrong?" Shane's voice goes serious.
I can't believe my eyes. Everything immediately feels like home. Just like the only thing missing is Shane being here.
"You won't believe this Shane! I took a different way home. Anyways, there is this large house for sale that is up for sale. It is one I used to see as a child and also thought was so pretty. I'm currently sitting in the driveway!"
"Send me a picture, little paws. I would love to see the outside of it." Shane's voice goes back to calm and happy.
"I will." I grab my phone and take the picture of the front that is in my view.
"It is sending to you now." I tell Shane.
"I'll look it the next time I stop little paws." Shane's voice takes on a gentle one it reminds me when he would smile at the same time.
"This feels like it is it Shane. I feel complete just sitting here looking at it. Your the only piece missing." I sigh, telling him what I already thought.
I smile widely at the house once more. Right as I put my car in reverse an elderly man walks out and waves me to stop.
"Hang on a minute Shane." I let him know before rolling my window down.
"Good evening, Miss." The older man smiles.
"Good evening. I'm sorry if I disturbed you but I just had to stop when I seen this beautiful house." I smile.
"You're more than welcome to come in and see it. There is about twenty-one acres that goes with it."
"I would love too see it but I would prefer to do it with my boyfriend first." I smile.
"I'll tell you what. Let me take this sign down until you can see it since your the first to show interest in my home. Then in a couple of weeks if you don't wish to view, I'll just stick the sign back up." He smiles.
"That would be great!" I try to hide the anxious happiness running through me.
"We can view it this weekend. If that is okay sir?" Shane's voice travels through.
"Lovely! I will see you Miss and your boyfriend this weekend." The man smiles and walks over, pulling the sign up before walking back inside.
