《Taking My Heart (Completed)》33. Cherish It

While Shane was explaining what was on his mind, I never felt calmer. Everything felt right and I loved how he was talking about getting a place and not making things forced like we had to be together all the time.
Thing is I want to be with him all the time. Shane makes me feeled loved, protected. Honestly, I feel like I fell in love with my best friend.
The sudden shock was evident on his face when I mentioned he can move in here and I meant it. Now it feels like I should go through the spare bedroom and start throwing things out to make room for his things. All to which is exciting.
Besides it is not like we would still get to be together all the time, because we both work. Coming home to someone though, I never thought I wanted before but with Shane I want it more than anything. A giddy feeling fills me with the thought of us having that and letting our love grow even more as we continue getting to know each other and spending time together.
"So when do you have to leave tonight?" I look over to him while I load up the dishwasher again.
"Right after dinner time. I will be gone for a couple of days." He sighs and pulls me in his arms.
I nod and lay my head on his chest.
"How about we do something today?" I suggest.
"What do you have in mind?" His voice sounds even deeper with my ear on his chest.
I pull back and smile. "Let's go for a hike. I will text Lola and let her know that I will be in tomorrow to work on my paperwork and to start scheduling appointments for me the next day."

Shane nods. "Sounds great."
I walk to the living room and send Lola a quick text. The only reponse I get is a have fun and how she wants all the details along with Jovi. Putting my phone in my pocket, I put on my tennis shoes and Shane is waiting by the door.
Oreo and Fluffier prance over, while Tanker is already sitting next to Shane.
I grab the keys and we all walk outside, as I lock up the door. We all set off to the woods next to my house.
"This is convinent." Shane laughs.
"I love it out here and the woods here is just as pretty as if you were to take the hiking trails just ouside of town. Those can get full this time of year though with the tourists." I laugh.
We walk hand in hand, going over more things about each other.
"So I know my house is small. What type of house would you look for?" I look over to Shane.
"Depends really I just want a large house to where there is more than enough space. I don't like the feeling of being closed in, which is why I love the open floor plan your house has. It is strange I can feel calm in the sleeper to my truck that is tiny but it still feels like I am free." Shane shakes his head.
"It is not walls around you and things can still be heard outside easily. I can understand that." I nod.
"Plus, you being a vet I can almost guarantee there has been more animals you wanted to adopt yourself but didn't have space. Which is one reason why I want quite a bit of land, that way a huge portion is fenced in for Tanker, Oreo, and apparently Fluffier, but also so other possible fur babies." Shane chuckles.

It is weird he knew that and I hadn't mentioned it. Another part that makes me feel like this is perfect between us because we tend to pick up on feelings and know things about each other without having to just say them all the time.
"Look over here." I point when it catches my attention.
Our feet was just about to walk over it and I am shocked I even seen it.
"A four leaf clover." Shane bends down and picks it.
He hands it to me.
"I am not sure what to do with it to preserve it." I smile.
"You can get some saran wrap and have it pressed in between books it would preserve that way. Good luck though having it." He smiles.
I actually want to be able to cherish it more than just doing that though. My eyes catch my locket and I smile wide.
"Open this for me?" I hold the locket away from my skin and Shane opens it for me.
I place the clover inside and close it back. "Now, I got a good luck charm in the locket you gave me. So I would like to think of it as our hearts will have good luck together."
Shane gives me a quick kiss. "That is perfect." He smiles and takes my hand again.
We make it back to the house and I wash my hands before starting dinner. The time is going by much to quickly for my liking.
Shane helps with making dinner and I enjoy how everything just feels so normal. Nothing is forced and I can't help but think everything Gram has told me is so true. Then again Gram has never been wrong before, so why I would even give thoughts to doubting her is beyond me.
"We make a good team with cooking together." I moan when tasting the food.
"I agree." Shane laughs.
My heart starts wanting to ache but I keep telling myself not to think about it and ruin this moment with him still here.
"So I will be back in about two days. Will you go out on a official date with me?" Shane looks at me when he pulls me in his arms after we clean up things from eating.
"I would love too." I smile.
"Good, I will plan something special for you." Shane smirks.
"Just everything about you is special to me Shane."
He kisses my lips and I pull him closer to me. Granted, I am sore and have been all day long from our night together last night but it's so good.
A/N---
Hey Hey Guys!!!
Does it sound exciting for them to have an official date soon?
What will Shane think up? Could he go basic or something over the top?
