Shane's words shock me and I could easily tell how my past ticked him off.

For the first time in my life, I am going to try this.

"Yes, I would like to be your girlfriend." I smile over at him, since I was looking at our hands linked together.

Everything about his touch and his voice calms me, but makes my heart flutter all at the same time.

Shane gets the largest smile I have ever seen. I can't help but mirror it with my own.

"I won't let you regret this. Even though I'm over the road I will make sure to show you I'm still with you."

"I look forward to it. Same for me, though I will be waiting on you and be what you need me to be." I smile.

"How about we get off at the next exit for dinner? It may be a little early but I got to stop for a small break." Shane looks over to me.

"Sounds great to me since all we had for lunch was snacks." I couldn't help but laugh.

It isn't long before Shane is slowing the truck down and we are pulling off the exit ramp from the interstate.

"Well little paws take your pick on which place looks good to eat." Shane smiles as he is stopped because of the light.

I look over and one place sounds nice.

"What about the burger place?"

"Sounds great." Shane nods. "Hope you have an appetite because that place makes them from fresh beef and they are huge burgers."

My mouth waters at the thought of it, or maybe it is how Shane's voice sounds as he describes it. No matter because I am starving.

In no time, Shane has the truck parked behind the diner and we get out with Shane putting on Tanker's vest. As we are walking around to the front, his hand is on my lower back and he steps one out slightly to hold the door for me.

A elderly lady steps up and the vibes I get from her remind me of Gram so much.

"Hi dears. Take a seat where ever you would like. What drinks can I start you with?"

Shane looks down to me. "A diet coke please."

"I will have a sweet tea." Shane smiles and guides me over to a booth.

I sit down and Tanker gets under the table once Shane sits down. I peek underneath and his head rests on Shane's feet.

Our drinks are being placed on the table in just a few seconds after we sit.

"Do you know what you may like or would you like to look at the menus?" The lady points to them on the table.

"I think we know just what we want." Shane smiles and nods his head.

"This is fabulous. What will it be today?"

We each put in our orders and the lady runs off to the kitchen with a smile on her face.

There is a few others in the diner and behind one of the counters is a girl who looks to be a teenager, when she moves though it seems almost like she has on rollerblades and after a few minutes I see her moving along the floor with them on.

"I like this place it has that old vibe from diners you don't see anymore." I smile to Shane.

"These places are the best because the food and service." Shane laughs.

"Would you mind if I send a message to Gram? I want to check on her and the fur babies." I ask Shane, not wanting to be rude.

"Not at all! You never need to ask if it is okay with me to check on them." Shane shakes his head.

I get my phone from my purse and let a breath of relief out with the fact I actually have signal. I send a message and it is not a minute later I see the dots popping up that Gram is replying. For her age she is amazing with speed still but then again Gram is not really that old since she is barely over sixty years old.

Gram had mom right before an adult but a different day in time. Then mom had me right when she was eighteen having known my supposed father in school.

I get a picture of Oreo and Fluffier both on the couch with Gram. I laugh and show Shane.

"Gram says they are all watching tv together and not to rush in the least. I told her how I am coming back." I can feel my cheeks heaating up quickly.

"It is good she knows. I notice you tend to talk more about your grandma than your mom." Shane gives me a soft look.

"I am close to my mom too, but with Gram I just think so much of her and love her so much. Mom tends to work alot but I will tell you that woman can go without hardly sleeping. I worked in high school to save up to be where I am at now, but I also helped mom out quite a bit. I would see the bills on the counter and take some each month and pay to help her, then leave a little note on it saying paid."

"That is amazing Samantha. You are one kind and brilliant woman. I see that you also hired your sister at your clinic." Shane nods.

"Yes she got out of school and loved animals just as much. It was fitting I couldn't do it all my own even with Jovi, so I offered and Lola took it instantly." I smile.

Our food is placed in front of us. "If you dears need anything else, just wave a hand or holler for me."

"Thank you so much!" I smile to the lady, before she walks away.

My eyes widen at the food on the plate. "There is absoutely no way I can eat all of this."

Shane laughs and looks at me. "Eat what you can and maybe a few extra bites. I wasn't kidding that you need a little meat on your bones."

"Hey now!" I laugh and toss a fry at him.

Just his luck he was able to catch it in his mouth with the height it went with my throw.

"Show off." I laugh.

"Couldn't let the good fry go to waste." Shane chuckles.

"Is there anything you can't do?" I roll my eyes with a wide smile.

Shane nods. "Sure, I can't give animals a shot or be angry with you on anything."

"Cheesy." I laugh and pick up the knife in the combo silverware we got.

I cut the burger in half which earns a laugh from Shane, who literally was able to pick it up with ease. With it cut I pick up half and smile.

"I had to make it fit in my hands. Can't make it look like I am wrapping my hands around something with a hard squeeze." I purposely tease him.

Shane closes his eyes and I can see him squirm slightly in the seat wanting to adjust himself but doesn't. I got him and it sparks something in me, but I smile lightly that I can have the same affect on him that he does on me. Which is being turned on way to easily.
