《Taking My Heart (Completed)》16. Help

My alarm goes off and I smile. I done it and took Gram's advice yesterday which lead to me talking to Shane until I fell asleep. Kind of embrassing but I didn't want to hang up the phone. I sit up in bed and see a text from Shane.
'Good morning, little paws. I enjoyed our phone call last night. If you agree to it, please call me again tonight when the convention is done.'
I send a message back to him and let him know that I am more than up for calling him after the convention. Last night we did get to know each other a little bit. It was mainly telling our ages and what we like and dislike. Which we both like quite a bit of the same thing. Color he likes blue, but I can't choose a favorite. Neither of us are picky on food and will try anything once.
What gets me is there is things we could have went over but didn't feel right yet. Like our past, I do feel like I can trust him and he has mentioned trusting me. To me though the past talks is something that kind of needs to be done in person.
Gram told me that I would find someone who would break my barrier down and no matter how I fight it, Shane is slowly doing that. At some point, I will tell him about the drama that happened and why I had the barrier up. I think he knows that I have the barrier though because of things he had said last night but he doesn't judge me in the least.
I get to Gram's house again and she opens the door for Oreo and Fuffier. "Please let me know if they become a handful. Lola said she will help with them."
"Sweet girl, I got these two. They will be a spoiled little kittie and pup."

"I know they will be. I hate leaving them though." I sigh and squat down to get more loves from them.
I stand up and Gram wraps me in a tight hug.
"You travel safe and we will see you once you get back." She smiles and kisses my cheek.
"I love you Gram." I wave and get in the driving service that is taking me to the airport.
It is easier to leave my car here at Gram's parked in the spare space incase anyone needs to use it. Plus even if I plan to be gone just two nights, I don't like leaving my car at the airport parking space.
Getting on the plane is quick and easy this time of morning. The worst part is take off and landing for flying. I get my bag from the luggage area and walk out the doors. I call a taxi and give the driver the address for the hotel I will be staying at, which happens to be just a mile from the building of the convention.
Once I am there I put everything down and lay on the bed, setting an alarm incase I fall asleep.
My alarm goes off once more and I get up taking a shower and ready for the convention. The weather is nice here, so I will walk it there instead of getting another ride for such a short distance.
The sky is a gorgeous color of pinks and oranges with the sun setting in the distance. My eyes drift off to the side where there are several semi's parked, but none of their engines are running. I think that is a factory of some sort there.
For a moment, I look closer but I don't see the familiar truck that I seen twice. A little longing feels me, it would have made this trip better if somehow Shane and I were in the same place at the same time. I never thought to ask last night where he was going to be today for his new job.

Inside the building, I find my name tag and then make way to my seat. Everyone is served a very elegant dinner, as we hear many speeches. Finally the main speaker goes over some new things that board is coming out with this year that could help make recovery faster for some animals.
With the talking done, I stand from the chair and walk over to the side to grab a copy of all the things the speaker went over just so I can read them. Jovi and I will review them and see it is something we feel comfortable doing ourselves for the clinic.
I speak many different vets from across the states. Several of them are so kind and we get along. Mainly, I am trying to avoid one vet that my eyes have done caught sight of. Greg, who is drinking amber liquid from the glass he holds. He is the one two years ago now that creeped me out and kept suggesting we should go to his room which I turned down repeatedly.
After an extra hour of mingling, I feel like I have been seen enough to call it a night. Besides, I am more excited to get to my room so I can talk with Shane. That has been the most highlight part to my day between thinking of him and knowing we were to speak again and so soon this time.
It is dark with the time it is currently, I look up to the moon. My feet lead me through several cars parked in the lot. A hand shoots out and wraps around my bicep.
"Don't tell me that you are trying to run from me again this year too, gorgeous." A nasaly voice tries to whisper.
"Let me go." I turn my head to Greg.
"Come with me. We can have so much fun together. I am in the motel just behind this building."
Thank God, I am not in the same one as he is.
"No thank you Greg. I rather just get to my own room. I am so tired." I yawn purposely hoping it makes my point.
"You seem just fine." Greg pulls my arm roughly, dragging me with him through the parked cars.
My heart picks up speed.
"Let me go now! Don't do this." I scream, hoping someone will be out here somewhere to hear and help.
Why had I not taken some form of defence class or something?
I take my purse off my shoulder and start hitting his back.
Greg spins and a hand smacks my face so hard it makes me fall to the ground. The rough asphalt scraping at my elbow and knee slightly.
"Now get up and come with me. I have waited for a couple of years and tried it nicely, but now I will have a taste of what a gorgeous girl is like."
"No! Let me go. Let me go." I keep moving my arms as this man literally picks me up and throws me over his shoulder. I bang on his back but he just won't let me go and has caught my legs pinning them to where I can't move them.
"Help!" I scream repeatedly.
"Hey! Put her down nice and slow." A deep voice calls out.
A/N---
Hey Hey Guys!!!
Who seen that coming?
Any guesses on who the deep voice belongs too? A bystander or could it be?

Terminal
My heart was shattered that day. It was on that day that I realized that life had an end, and that mine was coming. It was on that day that I realized that I was going to die. Leukemia, they told me. It's almost over. I didn't know what to do after that. I thought that maybe it would be best to die right then, get it over with. I thought that I could push myself away from all my friends, all my family, stop them from missing me after I was gone. I thought that I could handle it on my own, that perhaps the world was better off without me. I was wrong. So please help me, I'm dying. Save me, I'm falling. They tell me I won't survive. Please catch me, because if you don't, I'll shatter. I can't grab on anymore, I can't keep fighting. It's going to swallow me up. My name is Alyssa Gray, and by the time you finish reading this, I'll be dead. ________________________________ A few warnings and things to note: -I've put up the tramatising content tag due to a lot of mentions on death, dying, illness, and a mother who tends to be rather cruel. I know that I take a perspective that many will strongly disagree with, and I'm okay with that. Just be warned that this isn't lighthearted stuff. This is real, and death is real, and this part streaches beyond the fiction into reality. -I'm going to say a minor spoiler, but I don't want it to take you unaware because it is something to be aware of. At one point, my MC attempts suicide and fails. It's a very violent scene and I will put up the gore tag after writing this, and it's also just really depressing. If this will be triggering, you need to be aware of this before you read it. -This is a christian book. It may go against some of your beliefs. I hope that you can read and comment anyway even if some of it does not sit well with you. Credits for the cover go to the user 'Media in Sanity'. Your help and assitance has meant so much to me, God bless you in your writing and your endevours. A proud member of WriTE. I've promised to finish this fiction and update it at least once a month. My schedule is very irregular, and I'm working on that, but I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that this book stays out there. I'm not ending it until it's done.
