"Yes! Yes." Eunji verbalized her inner thoughts, feeling like crying again. It almost sounded like she was responding to her well-awaited proposal.

And if she was honest, her pounding heart was too loud for her to exactly hear what he was saying. The only word she caught was kiss.

And that's all she needed to hear.

The girl's loud pulse was contributing to the chaos inside of her head, making it even harder for her to stay composed.

With flushed cheeks, she decided to take things into her own hands. Placing her hand on the side of his wintry cold face, she gently pulled him towards her, her lips were formed into a soft smile.

Right before their lips would meet, Eunji stopped in her tracks, not wasting her chance to look into his eyes with a steady gaze beforehand. It was as if she was making sure for the last time that he was feeling the same way as she did.

And watching his pupils dilate under her intense gaze, Eunji was sure that the feeling was mutual.

And the next moment, it would be the boy who closed the gap between them, crashing his lips on hers here and now. The coldness from him and the warmth radiating from her were contrasting with each other.

Eunji's hand was now in his hair, caressing it ever so gently as she felt his hand fondling her back just as careful.

Oh, the kiss was clumsy. The kind of clumsiness you would expect when two individuals were having their first kiss together, giving in to their foolish feelings as they let go of their logical minds.

But regardless of the clumsiness, the kiss was full of love and sincerity. The sincerity no words could ever form.

Despite the synchronization they were moving in, she couldn't help but smile in-between the kiss when she felt him drawing her even closer to him.

In the short time the kiss lasted, a thought crossed Eunji's mind. After today, they would go on dates, share even more kisses and hold hands while having endless late night walks.

She would tell him how beautiful he was and how lucky she was to have him. And he would do the same.

Now that they finally admitted their reciprocal feelings for one another, they would happily live ever after. Together. At each others side.

Except— they don't.

Suddenly a tear hit the girl's cheek, causing her eyes to open. But the boy would only deepen the kiss, his hand traveling down to intertwine their hands together.

Why was he crying?

Eunji gently broke the kiss, her hand remaining in his hair as she stared into his eyes.

Was she that bad of a kisser?

She thought, tilting her head at him.

This was the perfect moment to tell him that she felt the same way.

If it wasn't obvious enough already,

"Jungwon, I like—"

"Don't." The boy breathlessly looked up to her, another tear rolling down his beguiling face. It broke her heart.

Not knowing that what he was going to say next, would break it even further.

"Or else...I won't be able to leave."

It was as if someone poured a bucket of cold water over the girl's head. Her eyes widened in shock, "What?"

"I'm sorry." He couldn't bear to look at her when Eunji's eyes started to tear up, "I'm sorry, Eunji."

"Why are you apologizing?" The girl shook her head in denial, tears threatening to fall again, "I-I don't understand, Jungwon. What do you mean?"

"I'm leaving." He repeated, his voice breaking.

"No...No you are not."

"Eunji." Jungwon tried to sound firm, "How can we be together? Look at me. I'm...not even human."

"Then why did you kiss me?!" She blurted out angrily and full of disbelief. It was getting hard for her to breathe, "Why?"

"I-I..don't know..." He didn't know why.

It was his heart that took over his body. He knew how selfish it was of him. How terrible it was.

But something in his head told him that he needed to kiss her this one last time.

Or else the boy wouldn't be able to leave.

It would be the last time he wasn't reasonable for once after all.

"You said you l-liked me!"

"I do." He replied honestly, keeping his gaze lowered the whole entire time, "But it's too dangerous."

"So what if you are not human? I don't fucking care. I can't live without you, Jungwon."

"Then learn to."

It was as if her heart was being ripped out of her chest, torn apart and thrown into a mixer all at once.

"Jungwon, that's...not fair."

The tears were blurring her vision. She couldn't see him clearly anymore.

"I told you already. Being close to me is not...easy." The pain he was feeling was the worst he'd ever felt.

Worse than the urge to drink blood.

Worse than seeing his mother walk away from him.

He couldn't face her.

Not face himself.

He was a coward. A fool.

A fool that didn't deserve her. And he knew that.

"Why?" She asked again, "Is it because of your father? Is this the reason why? Why you decided to be a fucking asshole?"

"Eunji, It's—"

The girl was furious, tears never stopping, "You told me you wanted to be free! That you wanted to change yourself!"

"That's the point!" He blurted out, shaking his head while clutching his heart at the same time, "After meeting you, I deluded myself into thinking, I could change."

Eunji stayed quiet, unable to answer as the lump in her throat was growing.

"But that's not how the world works." Jungwon messed up his hair, his tears seemingly stopping, "Eunji, It will never change. No matter what I do, I will always stay a mo—"

"No Jungwon. If you had just accepted yourself." Her voice was brittle and hoarse. At this point everything hurt, "It would have worked! We would have worked out. It was you. You all along. You sabotaged yourself."

The boy's eyes were wide open, he swallowed down his tears before he turned away. His hands were tightly clenched, his teeth gritted.

The longer this conversation lasted, the higher the probability was that he would be swayed by her.

And that couldn't happen.

Eunji's world was falling apart right in front of her eyes. He was leaving.

He was actually leaving her.

"Jungwon." Her voice was trembling. In the same way her hands were.

He turned back to look at her, his dull eyes meeting her red ones.

"If you leave, I swear I will never forgive you."

A weak smile painted his lips, "I think, that's for the better."

So he set her free that night.

Thinking that she deserved someone else.

Someone who wouldn't make her cry like he did.

Someone who would make her happy.

Little did he know that the only one who was capable of making her happy was him all along.

But what would a foolish vampire know...
