Hours and hours would pass and the girl was still hunched up in her room, waiting desperately for the boy to talk to her first.

Youngmin went out to meet her boyfriend after making sure Eunji has calmed down.

"Will you be okay?" She kept asking the other girl who on the other hand pushed her friend outside, nodding as a reassurance that she will be fine.

It was still the same day in which she and Jungwon got into their first argument ever, but Eunji still hoped dearly that he would approach her or at least knock on her door.

Was it because she was locked up in her room? Was this the reason why Jungwon hasn't talked to her yet?

Sniffing quietly, she quickly jumped to her feet before approaching the big mirror. The curtains were closed and all the lights in her room had been turned off.

But despite all that, she could still see the sad and sorrowful state she was in.

Shaking her head, she decided to exit her room.

Just to be surprised with the darkness that was occurring.

"Is it...this late already?" A feeling of discouragement washed over her, as she looked around while hoping to see Jungwon.

Was he still in his room?

Eunji looked down to her shoes, feeling her breathing growing unstable again.

"Eunji?"

She suddenly heard a boy's voice say, making her look up almost immediately.

"What's wrong? Does your leg still hurt?" Heeseung approached her swiftly, putting both of his hands on her shoulders.

The girl's eyes widened, before she felt her eyes becoming teary again.

Not again. Not again. Not in front of Heeseung. She kept telling herself in her head, but she couldn't stop the tears flowing down her face.

"Wait, wait, wait—" Heeseung slightly panicked, gently caressing her face with clumsiness, "What happened?"

"N-Nothing.." Eunji laughed, wiping her tears as she suddenly felt embarrassed again.

"Why do I always have to catch you crying..." The boy in front of her muttered, putting down her hands, "I hate it."

"Right? I hate it too." She tried to lift up the mood, "Seriously, don't look at me right now, I look hideous when I cry."

Instead of listening to her, he continued to stare straight into her eyes. More intense than before, "That's not true."

Suddenly he took a step closer to her, his hands placed softly on each side of her face causing her eyes to widen in surprise. Heeseung tilted his head at her, smiling sadly.

"H-Heeseung? What are you—"

"I'd kiss you right now..." His voice was low and firm, "But your boyfriend's watching."

Boyfriend? Eunji immediately turned around to see Jungwon standing in his door, about to go outside.

He wore a black jacket and had put up his hood, while glancing nonchalantly at her and Heeseung as he casually leaned against his door frame.

"Can I talk to you for a second, Eunji?" Jungwon spoke, his gaze remained stoic. It made Eunji gulp.

Heeseung would only tighten his grip around the girl, his eyes darkening noticeably, "Weren't you the one who left her alone? In the forest?"

"Heeseung..."

"Eunji." Jungwon ignored the other, straightly looking at the girl, "Can I talk to you for a moment?" He would repeat his question.

Eunji turned to Heeseung with a nod, mouthing a short apology, before she started to walk ahead, walking past Jungwon while leaving the other behind.

Jungwon would follow her quietly.

"You were the one who wanted to talk." Eunji would say after a while, turning around to face the boy, "Why aren't you saying anything?" Her voice was barely above a whisper, but she knew that he would hear her anyway.

Jungwon's gaze was directed to the ground. Even now when she had turned around to him, he didn't dare to look up.

"What's wro—"

"I'm so sorry." It was then when his teary eyes met hers. She was surprised to see him cry, "For all the things I did to you. I'm sorry. But please believe me when I say, I care for you. I care for you so much, Eunji."

Her hand hesitantly reached out to him as she started to close the gap between the two of them, "Jungwon..?"

"I'm sorry you had to witness all...that." He continued, referring to his conversation with his father. Eunji gulped, remembering his father's overwhelming presence.

"Can I...tell you a secret?" He suddenly asked. His voice broke as Eunji nodded as a response. She wanted to put their problems aside for now.

Jungwon needed her.

"I want to tell you about my family, Eunji."

The girl swallowed, as she nodded once again. Hesitantly.

"The reason why my father hates me is because I am the reason why my mother left us." Jungwon started to explain while Eunji listened to him attentively. She was trying to hide her shock, "When I was younger, I-I...I bit her." His voice came out as a whisper.

The girl's eyes widened, "You...what?"

"Ever since I was small, my mother felt the urge to raise me as humanlike as possible. She wanted me to grow up normal. In a normal, safe environment. She was human after all." The boy closed his eyes, trying to progress his painful memories, "But it didn't work. I noticed something was wrong about me when my teeth grew sharper and longer. When my eyes would turn red out of nowhere or when I..."

He stopped for a moment, feeling too ashamed, "When...I craved blood."

Eunji just listened to him, as she thought of a way to comfort him, "It's okay." She whispered in a small voice, noticing his figure being less tense than before.

"My father loves her. And she loved him too. I-It's been so long since he had found himself a companion after endless years of loneliness." The boy's voice was low, "He never showed me a lot of affection ever since I was small either. Simply because he didn't love me. I didn't resemble my mother enough nor did I act like her. There was no reason for him to love me."

Eunji shook her head, her heart dropping.

How could one's father not love his own son?

"I did well. I did such a great job in pretending to be human, Eunji. You won't believe it." Jungwon smiled through his tears, "I thought my mother loved me at the very least...But remembering her terrified expression when I accidentally bit her was enough evidence to prove me wrong. She didn't love me either. Maybe at some point she did, but after I broke her trust, she stopped. She stopped loving me."

"Jungwon, I'm so sorry."

"I really didn't mean to hurt her. I-I just..."

"I know..I know."

Eunji was now crying, feeling her heart break at every new knowledge she would attain of his family's story.

"She...She left the next day after begging my father to erase her memories." Jungwon looked down, "He never hurt her, so she never had to worry about being bitten. Living with me on the other hand was too dangerous for her. So she left."

"And how did your dad react..?" Eunji managed to ask, choking back more tears.

"He was heartbroken of course." Jungwon huffed a breath, looking up to the dark night sky, "I really tried my best to regain his favor. To make him proud of me."

The girl grabbed his hand, squeezing it.

"I think...to this day, he is still holding a grudge against me." The boy chuckled bitterly, "He never allowed me anything. Locked me up, saying it was too risky and stopped me from making friends and go to school activities...It was like he was saying If I had to be lonely you have to be too."

Suddenly, he turned around to Eunji. A small smile tugged on the corners of his lips, "Without you, I would have never experienced the freedom my father took from me. And even though it didn't last long, I want to thank you. Thank you for everything."

Eunji's hand gently reached forward to wipe his tears, as she nodded, feeling her heart clutch at every breath she took. He went through so much.

And she couldn't be there for him.

"I like you, Eunji."

The girl's breath hitched as she gaped at him in utter disbelief. Did she hear things right?

Or were her ears playing tricks on her again? She must be going insane from all the endless crying.

"I have feelings for you." Jungwon repeated, his voice was orotund and clear. As if he desperately wanted his sincerity to reach her, "I thought about it for a while and looking at the way you always make me feel, I just—...I like you, Eunji."

"I...I.." I like you too. I have feelings for you too, Jungwon. Eunji wanted to scream at the top of her lungs, but no words came out.

Instead, new tears were coming up.

But this time from joy. She couldn't believe it.

"If I leaned in for a last kiss right now.." Jungwon then asked, his voice was soft spoken but brittle at the same time. It was as if he didn't want to startle her,

"Would you meet me halfway?"

And this time, he didn't back out.
