《The Wolf Among Us (Michael Myers x Reader)》Chapter 15 Comfort

You remembered very little after promising Laurie that you two would be okay. You remembered the nurse asking for the phone number of any family or other important people you wanted her to inform of what happened. You remembered not wanting to have her call your father, because your mother-in-law would be dragged along to see you, but you missed him and all your sisters. You gave her his number and your older sister's number.
Then after that, everything was a blur. A blur of people, medicine and worrying thoughts.
You took care of any evidence that you killed Dylan, but there was every chance that it would somehow become apparent to the law that you killed him. You hoped that if Dylan's disappearance came to light, that the dots would be connected to Michael... Wherever he was. And as much as you felt bad for it, that was your only way out.
But now you woke up, about three days after everything had happened, and begun to finally remember what was going on around you. As you had realized your shoulder was hurting, they were afraid that some of the bones in your arm were broken, so your right arm was put in a light cast. Your skull was almost broken, there was a crack in it, and so they were extremely careful about your head. Your body was inconsistently trembling with pain; the worst of it was your head, neck, right shoulder and arm. It also seemed there was just enough of a shock to your system to give you minor muscle spasms in your hands and arms. Apparently you had almost broken your cast from it.
The nurse came in to check on your vitals and give you a dose of pain meds, distracting you from your quiet contemplation. "Is my friendly here yet?" you asked, slowly petting Salt who lied beside you.
She looked a little shocked to hear you speaking. You assumed that you were fairly passive the last few days. "I believe your sister was hearing an hour ago. You were asleep so we asked her to wait." she answered you, checking your vitals signs, making sure you were stable "She called us a few minutes ago with the number to her motel room. I can call her and tell her you're awake now, if you wish."
"Yes, please, " you nodded your head yes, letting her inspects the wound on your forehead "How's Laurie Strode?" you asked, looking desperate for her status.
"Miss Strode is fine; she'll be discharged from the hospital tomorrow. " the nurse carefully cleaned the wound and bandaged it back up. "You'll still be here for another week though dear."
"That's fine... " you didn't care too much at the moment. You'd begin to care when Laurie was on longer close by. The nurse scurried away and once again you were alone with Salt as company. You sighed heavily, looking over at the window. You loathed this particular brand of silence, it was eerie and unnatural. It was meant to be calming, but it honestly wasn't. It was unsettling giving off a sense of death.

It's funny; the places that try their hardest to not make people think of such morbid things were often the places that people thought when those things came to mind.
After a while of staring at the pale curtains with foggy sunlight pouring through the window, your door opened. You looked and it was Laurie. She looked pretty good, still shaken up, but didn't look like she had just gotten chased down by a murderer. She smiled at you and walked over to your bed. She gave you a hug and you only put your good arm around her.
"Hey, kiddo." you greeted her as she sat down on your bed.
"Hey... You feeling okay? They told me you were talking again." she asked, tilting her head.
"Yeah... Kind of... " you shrugged slightly "Was I really all that quite the last few days?"
She nodded yes. "Yeah, they thought you were going to slip into a coma. You were just lying there, petting Salt, eating and taking your meds. " at the moment of his name, your companion lifted his head and meowed for attention.
"Wow... I don't blame them for thinking that." you nodded to no one, while Laurie began petting Salt as well. "Are you excited to get out of this place?"
"Yes, but no... "Laurie shook her head. "I mean I wanna go home, get away from the hospital, but... I don't know." she was quiet for a moment "I'm scared." she looked at you, her blue eyes filled to the brim with fear and concern.
(totaly didn't lose my place on the Words document, and this was 100%not the reason why this chapter was delayed ~ 💮 Masky)
You smiled weakly "I told you, we'll be okay." She returned that slight smile "Nothing's happened to us so far, so I can't be lying, can I?"
"Not yet anyways," you both giggled.
"So what happened at the hospital in Haddonfeild? I remember them saying that there was an explosion." You asked, wanting to fill the gaps in your knowledge.
"My-mmm... " Laurie hesitated for some reason "Michael Myers followed us. H-he..." She was on the brink of tears as she spoke.
"Hey... " You spoke softly and put your hand against her cheek "It's okay... It's over... You don't have to tell me now... But please, anything but tears, Laurie... We made it out alive. " You tried your best to reassure her while an underlying feeling of anger started trying to surface.
Laurie nodded and sighed. You pulled your hand away from her and the Two of you didn't speak of it again. You quickly changed the subject to what are the plans going to be once you both had returned home. Laurie only had a little bit more school to finish, so that's what she was going to focus on then after that, she might look to get out of Haddonfeild as quietly as possible. You were going to clean up your home (Clear out anything incriminating, such as the red locker), and try to finish your novel (*Dies a little on the inside*).... "And find a man," You joked making her bust up with laughter.

It was nice to talk to her, but you just... Couldn't ignore the hatred that was suddenly building inside your towards her. She left when your sister arrived, saving you from the unwarranted anger. They exchanged pleasantries after you introduced them to each other. When it was just you and your sister, you could see that she had gone through some kind of hell recently; There were bandages and stitches that littered her exposed skin, a dark purple bruise on her cheek and on her clavicle that you could see plain as day.
"Crystal?" you tilted your head, confused and concerned for her.
"Hey, Jade!" She smiled at you, trying to sound cheerful. Jade was just a nickname you girls had for each other... The twins were Ruby and Amber. Crystal walked over to you and pulled up a chair.
"What happened to you?" You asked her, more concerned for her health than yours at the moment, because last time you cheeked; Crystal knew self-defense and wasn't in any sort of relationship.
"Well... " She shrugged slightly and pushed her (H/c) hair behind her ears. "... About the same as what happened to you." She was all choked up about everything, while you had remained largely unfazed by it all.
"What are you talking about?" You could not. Would not. Allow yourself to make the connection.
"I was almost killed by a killer, Jade." She frowned looking at you. That truly slapped some sense into you.
"Oh, shit... What... What happened though? Where were you? Where the hell was I?!" you asked, getting a tad worked up, the BPM monitor telling your sister that you needed to be calmed.
"I was on my camping trip, there was.... Oh god... It..." She shook her head and stood back up, locking you into a gentle death hug, starting to cry. You were expecting tears, you were expecting fear, you were expecting a lot of things, but not to hear that your older sister was nearly killed by some psychopath on a camping trip and for her to hug you like this.... Like you were her last life-line, but trying to remain gentle, afraid to hurt you more than you already were.
"Crystal... Please, tell me what happened to you? They probably already told you what happened to me... I think.... " you spoke calmly, letting her keep a hold of you. She eventually calmed down enough to let go, and ended up sitting on your bed. She wasn't told exactly what happened to you, other than someone tried to kill you, so everyone on this planet thought except you, of course.
Compare to the tale that she was about to fill you in on, you got off easy...
Asidefromthealmosthavingyourskullbashedin.
She explained what happened on her trip; it was her and some of her friends going to camp Crystal Lake. It was peaceful the first day, but when night fell.... That's when the first sign to leave appeared. One of her friends went missing, but they all just shrugged it off, because, admittedly, that friend was a bit of a bitch, then the next night she and two of her friends started hearing screaming in the night. They investigated and found two dead bodies. When they turned around there was the killer who was offing them one by one. There was Jason Voorhees. (*EPIC FORESHADOWING*)
Crystal didn't know why he let her go, but she was the only one allowed to leave. Four of her friends were killed, a pair of cops were slaughtered and her best friend went missing. No one was going to search the area for her missing friend after that massacre, it just... Went back to the usual 'No one goes to Crystal Lake' after that. Crystal had been chased and almost killed by him, she was scared of the fact that he was just suddenly decided to let her go, but she still had the battle scars to prove what she went through.
She shook her head after recalling everything she had been through and smiled weakly at you "I'm just happy to be alive... And... So happy to see that your okay too... " aside from your emotional and physical trauma.
"Yeah... Me too." You smiled and let her ask questions about what you had been up to prior to the face off with Michael. It was the same old, same old; house repairs, working a crappy job to pay the bills in-between decent sized royalty cheeks and a best friendship with a moody cat and a cute blonde teenager.
Completely normal.
No deaths and murders.
No hunts for fresh meat.
And a totally, not, questionable relationship with a teenager, simply because she's female.
Just an average, boring life.
*Cough* HO... I TOTTALY DID NOT GET CONFUSED FOR A FEW WEEKS WHILE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE I WAS IN THIS AND I 100% DID NOT HAVE WRITERS BLOCK AND DEFINITELY DIDN'T DECIDE TO REWRITE 2 CHAPTERS THAT WEREN'T POSTED YET.
