《BadBoy Tutor》Chapter Seven

The next two weeks went by in a blur. Every day like promised, Reece had picked me up from my house and drove me home from school. At first, we got very curious glances from envious girls as to why I was getting lifts from Reece but no one really mentioned it. I was finally getting my car back after school today and I was ecstatic. Reece rolled his eyes from beside me in maths as I grinned the entire time, spending most of the lesson annoying him. Adam hadn't tried to speak to me since that night two weeks ago and I was so happy and relieved. Cole was sleeping around more than ever after Jodie made it clear to us that she was happy with her improved relationship with Harry. I tried to talk to him and say it wasn't going to help him but he just shrugged me off. Reece had been tutoring me as normal and I could actually feel myself already improving from his help. I'd have never expected him to actually be patient with me but he always was. We actually seemed to be getting along and I guess we were becoming friends. On the plus side, Dad was coming back next week so I was also excited to see him, although he'd probably be leaving after a couple weeks.

"Look Sammy, I get you're excited over your car but please stop smiling like that. Its creeping me out." Reece shuddered as my grin grew wider.

"What? Can I not be in a good mood?" I questioned, a teasing glint in my eyes.

He scoffed. "No you can't."

I rolled my eyes. "You need to get some excitement into that boring head of yours."

He smirked. "Trust me. I get plenty of excitement."

My nose winkled in disgust. "Pervert."

He wiggled his eyebrows. "You love it really."

I shook my head but a small laugh escaped my lips anyway. Our relationship was strange to me. We went from hating each other to kind of friends so quickly. It made me wonder, if I hadn't been with Adam would we have ever disliked each other?

I gave him a sheepish smile. "Can I ask for a favour?"

"I'm more than happy to give into your sexual desires from me, all you have to do is ask."

I smacked him on the shoulder and glared at him. "No you jackass. And for your information that will never ever happen." Over the past weeks, he had become more and more flirtatious and constantly making sexual innuendos.

As Jodie says, that's boys for ya.

"Keep telling yourself that." He drawled.

"I mean it. I would rather drink my own piss."

His face shrivelled up in disgust but then he chuckled. "Your desire for me is so obvious but I get you're a stubborn person and won't admit it. But for the sake of your math grade, I won't give in."

"Reece?"

He grinned at me. "Yes buttercup?"

"Shut up."

He frowned but continued to laugh at my irritated face before sobering up. "What favour do you need?"

I awaited the sexual innuendo but it never came. "Can you drop me off at the car shop after school? Cole's busy and Jodie has dance practise and I have to pick it up by 4 and it takes like an hour to walk there. It's fine if you can't-" Reece cut of my rambling with a chuckle.

"On one condition."

I quirked a brow at him as his dark green eyes twinkled with amusement. I noticed the specs of freckles that sat on his cheeks. "I'll need more of those amazing cupcakes."

I laughed lightly. "Of course."

"I'm getting it back today dad." I told him on the phone as I scurried across the carpark to where Reece's car always was and where I had been meeting him for the last 2 weeks.

"Is Cole taking you? I don't want you walking there yourself Sam." He questioned me as I smiled at Reece who was leaning on his car waiting for me with his keys dangling in his hand. It was a cold yet sunny day and his sunglasses hung loosely on his face. He smiled back and went to speak before I shushed him, pointing at my phone.

"No. My math's tutors dropping me off." I had failed to mention to my dad that my math tutor was in fact a guy. As I said before, Reece was well known in this town and although my dad was pretty chill, I didn't want him freaking out over the phone.

"Ok dear. Make sure you thank her." I didn't bother correcting him.

"I will dad. See you next week." I quit the call and looked up to Reece already staring down at me.

"Her?" His voice was laced with amusement as he slid off his car and walked around to the driver's side. I opened the car door and climbed in, trying not to inhale the amazing scent that filled the car.

I smiled sheepishly. "I may or may not have not implied that you're a girl." I replied and he burst out laughing, starting up his car and pulling it into reverse.

"Why?" He shot me a glance through his sunglasses. "You're dad isn't really over protective is he?"

I shook my head. "No not really. Just after the whole Adam thing he's reluctant to me spending time with any guy that isn't Cole."

He hummed as the car exited the school and onto the road. "Are you and Cole you know?" He asked and I nearly spat out the water I was drinking. I quickly swallowed it and wiped my mouth, still shocked.

"Eww no." I shuddered but Reece didn't look convinced. "Cole's like a brother to me. We've been best friends since we were five and have never been more than that and never will." And he also is in love with Jodie but of course I didn't mention that part.

"What made you think that?" I asked, intrigued as to why he thought me and Cole were anything more than friends.

He shrugged. "Just that you seem close. Closer than most friends." He replied casually, not taking his eyes off the road.

I sighed. "I guess we are closer than most friends. Cole and Jodie have been there for me more than an ordinary friend would. They helped me get over my mum's death and if it wasn't for them I don't think I would have ever been the same." I replied. I had briefly mentioned to Reece a while back that my mum was no longer with us but I never said the reason why.

Reece looked hesitant to talk and I knew what he wanted to ask. "You want to know how she died right?" I asked, chuckling when I saw his eyes widen.

He gulped. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

I shrugged, taking another sip of water. "It's been 10 years now, I'm ok to talk about it." He nodded, not pushing me to carry on and I smiled at his patience. Most people would question and urge someone to speak when they go quiet but Reece didn't.

"10 years ago my mum died in a car crash on the way home from work. Some asshole drunk driver hit her." I paused, sighing. "The asshole didn't even stop to check on her, he just drove away like a coward and never looked back. The police never found him. I remember that day clear as day. I was playing some weird dress up game with Jodie at her house and we had forced Cole into a dress." I snickered at the memory and even Reece chuckled at the thought. "Jodie's mum burst in with tears in her eyes as she drove us all to the hospital. Funny enough, my mum and Jodie's had become really good friends since we met so it was really hard on her too. She had forced Jodie and Cole to stay home but I begged her to let them come with. When we got to the hospital I found my dad crying outside her room as they did an emergency procedure on her but turns out she died on impact. I instantly knew and it felt like my whole world came crashing down on me. I wouldn't have got over her death if it wasn't for my best friends." I smiled sadly, wiping away a lone tear as I remembered the worst day of my life.

I glanced at Reece and he had a frown on his face. I was expecting him to pity me like everyone else did at the mention of her but he never did. "I understand what you mean." He paused, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. "My dad died in a similar way." My eyes widened and I quickly sobered up. I wasn't expecting that reply. I knew better than anyone else to never apologise so instead I gave him a soft smile, which he returned.

For the rest of the journey we sat in peaceful silence, the only noise coming from the radio that was on low. I hummed along to the familiar song that was playing as I stared out the window. I could hear Reece tapping his fingers on the steering wheel and I fought the urge to grin. It felt surprisingly good to open up to Reece like that and I realised that he was actually a really good listener. Unlike some people, they would butt in and ask questions but he never did. He let me finish and didn't pity me or say they're sorry for my loss like everyone else did when she died. The car came to a stop outside the car shop and I turned to Reece, excitement all over my face. He rolled his eyes but smiled anyway.

"Thankyou!" I beamed, grabbing my things and jumping out of the seat.

"Sammy?" He called and I turned around, grinning.

"Don't forget my cupcakes." With that he drove off and I chuckled as I entered the car shop. After explaining to the car fixer or whatever they're called, they told me to wait and they would bring my car out. I sat down in a seat and felt my phone buzz. I pulled it out of my pocket and unlocked it and went into my messages.

😏

I rolled my eyes and chuckled. You may be wondering the name I had for him in my phone. Seeing as he had me down as Sammy, I did a name that he despised. Even though I didn't despise Sammy, it was fun to wind him up.

😉

My phone buzzed again and I was just about to open it when the man I had previously spoke to walked out and chucked me my keys. I caught them with ease as he smiled warmly at me. "its ready." I beamed back and after paying him what I owed, I jogged and grinned even wider when I saw my white car.

"Baby." I whispered, quickly unlocking it and sinking into the seats. "Oh how ive missed you." I commented, starting the car up and blasting my music out. The stereo didn't have the best sound but I didn't care.

Thank u next by Ariana Grande was playing through the radio as I exited the car shop and drove onto the freeway, smiling the whole way home. I had missed my car so much and as you can tell, I was extremely happy to have it back. "Thank u next, thank u next." I sang and many songs later I was home. I parked it on the drive and locked up before noticing someone was at my house. I climbed out of my car and stopped when I saw who it was.

Reece stood leaning against my front door with a wide smirk plastered on his face. "Actually. I want my cupcakes now."
