It was already 10 a.m. and Jimin finally opened his eyes. He stared at the ceiling for a few minutes and closed his eyes back. He held his head because he felt a very sharp pain.
"Why do my head hurts a lot? " he winced
His hand started travelling the bed to find his phone. But suddenly, he touched something soft but hard. He turned his head to his left and he saw a tall shirtless man was sleeping beside him. He was surprised at first but when he realized that it was Jungkook, he calmed down.
Jungkook only had his jeans on and he didn't wear any shirt.
"What he's doing in my room? " he asked as he tried to remember what happened last night.
"Why can't I remember anything? " he groaned as he ruffled his hair roughly. He looked at the clock and frowned. "I'm late to work already! " he hissed and tried to stand up.
But he ended up falling on the floor because his head was too hurt. "Why it's so hurt?! " he groaned while holding his head. Then, he heard footsteps were coming towards him. He looked up at the person and found that it was Aera.
"Jimin " she gasped as she helped him to get up. When he's finally sat on the chair, Jimin felt that his pain on the head was slowly healing.
"What are you doing here? " Jimin asked but still holding his head.
Aera looked at the bowl on the table and said "I asked Mrs Song to cook you a soup. I was passing by to see if you're awake but then I heard something fell ".
Jimin looked at the bowl on the table and turned back to Aera. "You can go out now " Jimin said and Aera nodded.
Suddenly, they heard a yawning sound. Both of them turned their head to where the sound came. It was Jungkook who just woke up from his deep sleep. "Oh, Aera-ya. I didn't notice you were there " he said while squinting his eyes.
Jimin looked at Jungkook's shirtless body and turned back to Aera. "What are you staring at? Just walk out already " Jimin said.
Aera blushed a bit and rushed out from his room. Jungkook who had no idea about what was going on just looked at Jimin and shrugged. "Why'd you ask her to walk out? " he asked.
"Do you want her to stare at your bare body?" Jimin scoffed while rolling his eyes. Jungkook looked down at his body and covered it with his arms. "But I think you were the one who stares at me " he chuckled and walked to the bathroom.

While waiting for Jungkook to finish showering, Jimin took the soup and eat it. The soup really helped him to feel more fresh and warm.
Jimin and Jungkook went downstairs when they're done. "Let's go to the dining room! I'm starving so much " Jungkook giggled as he ran by himself.
Everyone knows that Jimin and Jungkook have such different personalities. Jimin is cold and doesn't talk much meanwhile Jungkook, he's a talkative and happy go lucky. But no one knows how they can be best friends. They don't even match each other.
Jimin just watched Jungkook running away and followed him from behind. They reached the dining table and sat on their seats. "How was your soup? " Aera asked as she appeared from the kitchen.
Jimin nodded his head, showing that the soup was good. "I make some sandwiches, do you want some? " Aera asked
"I want! " Jungkook said excitedly which make Jimin glared at him. "Aren't you supposed to go work today? " Jimin asked.
Aera stopped her steps and think for an excuse. "Oh yeah, but I took an annual leave because I'm not feeling well today " she said and walked into the kitchen. Actually, she took a day off because she wanted to take care of Jimin.
"She's so kind, isn't? " Jungkook asked, pulling Jimin out from his deep thoughts. "I don't know, why did you say that? Do you know her? " Jimin asked, looking straight at Jungkook.
"She took care of you the whole night, you know? " Jungkook asked which made Jimin choked a bit. "What?! Why? What happened to me last night? " Jimin asked, clueless.
"You were drunk af last night. "
"How much did I drink? " Jimin asked because he can't remember anything from last night.
"You finished two bottles by yourself " Jungkook answered and Jimin looked at him in disbelief. "What?! You sure?! " he asked.
"Of course " Jungkook said while stirring his coffee. "Why'd you let me drink that much?!" Jimin asked, looking like he was mad.
"What can I do? You know that you're a stubborn ass. My words won't work on you." Jungkook scoffed.
Then, Aera came back to the dining room with a plate full of sandwiches. "Here, I hope you enjoy " she said with a smile.
"Where's Mrs Song? Didn't I tell you to stop cooking for me? " Jimin asked and looked sharp into her eyes. It was his tactic to make someone says the truth. Aera bit her upper lip and glanced at the clock.

"She went out to buy the groceries since we don't have many foods to eat. So I just let her go, telling that I'll prepare the foods for breakfast " Aera answered with her head down.
"Weren't I told you to not-"
"It's okay, your sandwiches taste so good. I love it " Jungkook cut Jimin from scolding Aera. Jimin looked at Jungkook and he seemed so mad. "Oh, Aera. I think you can rest now. Well, after you spent the whole night taking care of Jimin, I bet you're damn tired, right? Just go rest. Jimin and I are fine" Jungkook said to make Aera go into her room. So that Jimin can't scold her more.
Aera nodded and went into her room.
Jimin gritted his teeth and slammed the table. He wasn't in the mood. "Why'd you ask her to go up? I'm not settle talking to her yet" Jimin muttered
"She's not a kid, Jimin. You can't scold her like that " Jungkook said strictly. Usually, Jungkook just let Jimin do anything he wants. But seeing he scolds someone who had been very kind really make him mad.
"I know she's not a kid but she's my future wife. I need to teach her how to listen to my orders " Jimin scoffed as he looked away.
"You said she's your future wife but I don't think that you're treating her like your future wife. You treat her like a stranger who stay together with you. You don't give her the treatment she deserves! " Jungkook said as his tone got higher a bit.
"Why are you so mad? You don't even know her! " Jimin said and the atmosphere tensed up. Jungkook sighed, "Jimin, we've been friends since high school. I know you very well, Jimin. I've seen how you treat people before. You act so cold towards them and it makes they feel uncomfortable and afraid towards you. It's okay, I can accept it because it's your personality. I have no right to change you "
"But please don't do that to Aera. She's not a stranger but your future wife. Please. I want you to have a happy marriage. I want back the Jimin who used to be happy-"
"Stop it! " Jimin yelled.
Jungkook stopped talking and turned to Jimin. "What is it? " Jungkook asked.
Jimin looked into his eyes and said "Listen here, the old Jimin you used to know is dead. He doesn't exist in this world anymore. Please stop asking me to get my old self back because it'll never happen " he said and walked away, leaving Jungkook alone.
"It's okay, Jimin " he sighed
"I'll make sure there's someone who can bring the old you back. I promise Jimin. I promise "
I sat on the chair near my desk and closed my eyes. What Jungkook said just now kept replaying in my mind.
She took care of you the whole night
She's your future wife
I want the old you back
No way. I'll keep the me now. The old me was too weak to survive in this . I cant let myself being a victim again. I don't want to get hurt again. I groaned and hit the table harshly.
Suddenly, I heard someone knocked my door.
"Go away! Don't disturb me I need time! " I yelled. I heard someone opened the door and got into my room. It must be Jungkook.
I ruffled my hair and closed my eyes. "Please don't talk to me right now. I'm tired " I said while hoping he'll go away.
"Sorry, but you need to eat your medicine " I heard Aera's voice. I opened my eyes and they moved to Aera. She was holding a glass of water and pills. I turned away and crossed my legs.
"Why do you care about me? " I asked.
"I just don't want you to catch a cold. That's it. Nothing more " she said but I just stared at the ceiling without responding. I heard she sighed and she came to me.
She put the glass and pills on the table and looked at me. "I'll leave them here. Please eat them, okay? " she asked.
Seeing that I didn't respond to what she said, she heaved a sighed. "If you don't eat them, you'll get sick and won't be able to go work. Pity on your employees. Please, eat them " she said and walked away.
I rolled my eyes and looked at the medicine. I scoffed, "Do you really think I need these?". I took the pills and threw it into the dustbin. I also took the glass and threw the water inside it.
"I don't need all of these stupid things. They're just burdening me "

The Glyph Queen
When Winnie was thirteen, her settlement taught her how to fire a rifle. Her school practiced drills in case raiders came, and the town grew crops in their greenhouse-adapted homes, which were the only places warm enough during the worldwide nuclear winter. The Lakiran empire invades—a corporate-born nation overseen by their corporate-born queen, Victoria Paladino. They ride silent planes whose repulsion field veered bullets away. Three years of occupation later, an exemplar visits—a member of Victoria’s oversight committee rumored to read minds. He tells Winnie that she may have a unique mental power, or a flair. At the empire’s capital, the queen herself tutors Winnie to help her reach the full potential of whatever power she may have. Meanwhile, in post-war Nigeria, a streetwise teenager named Naema sees a different side of the empire. Between corruption and oppression, everyone lives in squaller. People fight over assembled food pastes. She too is told she has a unique flair, not by the empire, but by a fugitive woman who is the last vestige of an ancient witch coven, and she knows a dark secret about what the exemplars do to people like Winnie and Naema. The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]
