《Distraction》Stab me

'I..I really don't think I can...' Peggy starts to stutter.
'I know you have a vial of it hidden somewhere Peggy, give it to me' You say bluntly.
'How do you even know that?!' Peggy asks in disbelief.
You laugh. A smirk spreading across your face. 'I didn't. But now I do'
Peggy crosses her arms over her chest to try and act confident. 'Daisy...'
'Peggy. I'm not asking for your fucking permission. Okay? I'm doing this. Give it to me!'
'Okay' Peggy nods slowly. 'Okay. But first. Tell me why'
'What?'
'Why do you want the serum, give me your honest reason and I'll do it'
'Peggy'
'Please. I need to know why if I'm going to have to administer it to you'
You take a deep breath and look up at her. 'You and Howard....you were childhood sweethearts right? Inseparable. Madly in love...'
Peggy gulps and immediately dips her head down. 'Yes'
'Well, it was never like that with me and Steve. We kept our feelings closeted. Until you came along and...'
'I know what I did was wrong okay?! No need to keep reminding me every chance you get. As if I haven't already paid the price. I lost my life's work because of that reckless moment' Peggy breaks, you hear the sincerity in her voice and you take a breath.
'Well. Once me and Steve realised that the feelings were mutual, it became serious fast. We are head over heels for eachother. Planned our future...the life we want to share together...everything. But...'
Peggy swallows as she realises. 'You can't have that. Can you? The side effects of the serum means that Steve won't age at the same rate as you'
You nod slowly as tears run down your cheek. 'He hasn't realised it yet though and I..' You start to sob. You look down at your ring, shining beautifully on your finger. 'I can't live in a world without him. He might be America's Captain now, but he's my Steve forever'

Peggy rushes to your side. Surprising you by holding you close. 'I'll help you' She whispers. 'I'll give you the serum'
'Really?' You look at her hopeful.
'Really'
'Thankyou....'
Peggy takes a breath before heading to the big locked cabinet behind her and pulling out a small trinket box. She brings it back to you and uses the key chained around her neck to open it.
You stare at the vial as Peggy holds it in her hands. Taking the cap off and revealing the needle.
'Okay. You should lie down for this' She instructs you.
You make your way over to the emerald green velour sofa and lie yourself down but keep your head propped up on a cushion.
'What do you think Steve will say, when he realises?' Peggy asks you.
You think for a moment. Taking in all possibilities. 'Doesn't matter. We'll have forever and a day to figure it out'
Peggy inches the needle closer to you and you flinch.
'You need to remain still Daisy'
'Will I be able to have kids?'
'What?'
'Will me and Steve be able to conceive. What would be the likelihood of...'
'I'm unsure. I would have to run tests. But it's possible the baby could absorb some of the serum...'
'Would it be dangerous?'
'I really wouldn't know'
'And if I...if I got you your job back, would you have the resources to find out?'
'It's possible I could'
'Okay' You exhale. 'Stab me'
Peggy let's out a nervous laugh and you watch.
'Sharp scratch' Peggy says as the needle pierced your skin. You remain as still as you possible can as the liquid slowly starts to course through you.
'P...Peggy...'
'Hold on Daisy. Nice slow breathes'
'P...P...'
'Daisy? Stay with me. It's okay!'

Hiraeth: Promise of the World
On a rainy night, a young woman is transported to the enchanting world of Sol'h'meyr. Thrilled to be freed from the shackles of monetary survival and societal expectations on Earth, she embraces her newfound existence and magical powers bestowed. But the rose-tinted fantasy life she always dreamed of turns out to be a stark reality that poses to kill her if she doesn't adapt and let go of her past. Essairyn battles both cripping nostalgia and imminent danger in her journey from the Spirit and Demon Forest to the human realm of As'pyze. Disillusionment leading to anger has erupted into violence across the deceptively peaceful land. New friends and allies gather by her side, but tragedy and betrayal lurk closer than she realizes. Hiraeth is the idyllic beginning tainted with dark shadows in the epic fantasy series, Singularity Cycle. The original version of the first book was published on RR in 2019 and has since seen multiple revisions based on reader feedback with this one as the final and official fourth version before the second book. While the entire series story has undergone major changes in the last year, all books have been planned since the beginning of writing. It is also my second wish to eventually make this story into a webcomic, either by myself or with a team if possible. Thank you for taking this journey with me, and enjoy reading! ( You can alternatively read books in the series as standalone fictions, but they connect to one another though a running theme and mystery that evolves and progresses with the main character. ) Alternate Blurb for the Singularity Cycle series: Essairyn had never felt truly alive on Earth. It felt like something was missing ever since she was born, but even after nearly 20 years of mundane living, she could never pinpoint what this or the emptiness in her heart was. Suddenly, she awakens in a grandiose, primordial forest and encounters mythical creatures beyond her restless imagination in a parallel world called Sol'h'meyr. She befriends, in particular, a sassy fox-spirit named Akari who reincarnated after three millennia. Essairyn is gifted with abnormal magic, and Akari is being chased by those of her dark past. Together, they set out on an adventure in a world more dangerous than its beautiful facade could hide. Finding new friends along a path riddled with tragedy, Essairyn must learn who to trust as deceit and betrayal lie behind kindly faces. Life in this deceptively promising world slowly spirals down a path of no return. This is not a game, but cruel reality. Her simple adventure became the modest beginnings in a chain of disruptions that tore even the dimensional fabric of time and space. No one, not even Essairyn, was who she thought they were. And not even the fickle gods could change the time-worn destiny of the universes... A single promise shook eternity’s existence.

A Nation of Distances (possibly a dystopian love story)
Michael lives in a toxic macho world with extreme male hierarchy. When he gets a weird rating that makes his place even more problematic he's forced to choose a fiancée at a Wife School, and he slowly discovers more about the other side of the great divide between the sexes in The Nation. If only the world would stop being so complicated... On the other side there's Megan, who's more interested in books than in marriage, and the unpredictable Eliza who seems to have a connection with Micheal already. Will they be able to cross the distance and become friends against all the rules of their own world, or will they just be crushed? Are positive relationships between men and women even possible? And is there a way to change the world or is that just a naive thought of a silly wimp? 'A Nation of Distances' is a slightly dystopian dialogue-heavy drama set in a low sci-fi future setting about the war between the sexes, disconnect and friendship. The genre will fluctuate in between more slice-of-life parts and soft sci-fi drama with possible romantic elements, with alternating lead and switching perspectives once more of the main characters are established. Content Warning: Certain concepts and scenes might be disturbing and/or triggering to some, even though the story itself won't be extremely heavy most of the time. Sexism as a double-edged sword destructive to both sexes is an important part of the story, but so is friendship.Note that all descriptions of persons and places are purely fictional and made up by the writer, and any resemblance with anything in the real world is a coincidence, since the real world is not supposed to be dystopian anyway!
