'What? No welcome hug?' Your mother asks sarcastically as she walks towards you, making you retract back until you hit a wall.
'You can't be here' You stutter out.
'Yet, here I am' She challenges right back 'So how about you boil some water and make your mother a cup of tea, there's a good girl' She patronises you and shivers run down your spine.
You gulp and walk your way over to the kitchen, putting the stove on and beginning to boil some water. You can see officer Webber through the blinds in your fathers house. You needed something, a distraction, some kind of signal. You had to think and you had to think fast.
'Nice place you and your Captain have here' Your mother continues to stir as she swipes her finger across the counters, checking for dust. Picking up photos and staring at them, anything she can think of to aggravate you. Your head whips around to her addressing Steve and you can't help but scowl, making your mother sigh. 'Soften your face or you'll get wrinkles. And with your scrawny little toothpick turned hunk of a soldier I'm sure you'll need all the help you can get in keeping up your appearance, otherwise...'
'Otherwise what?!' You snap. She was already under your skin.
'The tea...'
'Is boiling' You reply back sharply. 'Now, continue what you were saying'
Your mother huffs and walks over to you. Placing her cold hands on your shoulder. You could feel her long pointed nails dig ever so slightly into your shoulders.
'Otherwise he might find someone else to entertain him' She smirks and your stomach turns.
'Oh Daisy, it's only a hypothetical, I'm just suggesting you...'
'How do you do it?!' You bark. Finally having enough.

Your mother looks at you shocked from your reaction, but then she pulls out a cigarette from her sleeve and lights it, blowing the smoke in your face. 'Do what, Petal?'
'Don't call me petal!' You shriek. Pulling the cigarette out of her hands and laying it down on the countertop.
'You really are your fathers daughter...' She mutters.
'It's my greatest accomplishment' You say back as proudly as you can.
'Shame he isn't here to hear you say that, isn't it?'
'Tell me how you did it'
'Did what?' Your mother puts her hands on her chest and acts dramatic. Trying to sound as innocent as possible.
'Tell me how you did it all. How you could leave your husband and child, only to run off and marry another man, which or who I haven't even seen yet by the way! Then to come back into your daughters life conveniently at the same time your ex husband, her father was murdered. Only to then be locked up AND escape prison by seducing a guard! TELL ME. how did you do it?'
Your mother now grins from ear to ear. You were panting and trembling, your fists were clenched. Your mother was stood there like a statue, as if nothing you said mattered or fazed her.
'You want to know my secret?' She taunts as she starts to circle around you. Like a shark circling a lost little fish who had swam too deep in the sea. 'You want to know HOW I DO it, or WHY I DID it?'
You feel yourself wobble and you try to lean yourself up. 'W-what?'
'Money, it's always money' She chirps out. 'He had left everything to you, every penny. Every heirloom, every brick on that god damn house! It was mine. It should have always been mine!'

'So you killed him?!'
Your mother rolls her eyes and you grab her arm. Pinching her skin tight. 'Answer me' You grit out through your teeth.
'No. I never killed him, too much dirty work. I did however put him to sleep nice and easy. Poor thing never knew what hit him...'
You feel yourself go sparse. 'Who...who killed him?'
'Petal i...'
You squeeze tighter and your mother struggles in your grip, letting out a small Yelp, but you were years past caring. 'WHO killed my father?!'
Before your mother can reply officer Webber bursts through the door. Grabbing your mother and arresting her.
'Good work Daisy' He says softly as another officer keeps a hold of you. Making sure you were steady footed.
'H-how?!' Your mother gasps out outraged.
'Because even this flower has thorns' You reply back viciously as your mother is escorted away.

Midara: Requiem
"When the alternative is extinction, all acts, no matter how heinous, are permitted." The story of a little necromancer who only wants to play with abominations against all that is holy dollies and her horsey, Mister Clackybones. Welcome to the novelization of one script I designed for a video game setting I call Midara (I selected the name of a genus of moths for symbolism purposes, not to be confused with anything else). Once upon a time, I dreamed of the setting being the next Final Fantasy. Long story short: Nope. Requiem itself is meant to be an Open-World RPG which adapts to the choices of the player. This is just one of many, many paths that one might follow in Requiem's gameplay, if it ever becomes a game.
