《Distraction》I'm enlisting.

"You can't die a virgin Steve, come on, what's so bad with letting me set you up on a date?" Bucky frowns at Steve, nudging him playfully as they walk through the fair. Music blasting and colourful lights surrounding them. Bucky rustled Steve's hair childishly, a constant reminder that Bucky was bigger than Steve, and he always has been.

"I don't just want to do it with anybody Buck..I want it to be special, with someone I care about" Steve gulps, immediately blushing at the topic of conversation. Making Bucky laugh, shaking his head at Steve's reaction.

"Besides, I don't need a date tonight, I invited Daisy to hang out with me while you go off and be the womaniser you always are" Steve sighs and Bucky groans out in frustration.

"Speak of the devil..." Bucky mutters.

You approach the boys in a polka dot pin up dress, it was baby blue and white. You hated the fact that you had to wear dresses but your father was a traditional man, leather and lace was not his ideal concept for the conservative daughter he thought you were.

"Evening fella's" You smile as you lean down to pull Steve into a hug. You were a few inches taller than him in the heels you were wearing, but without them you were the same height.

Steve gulped as he inhaled a whiff of your sweet scent. You smelled like Honey and daisies, ironically enough.

"No woman around your arm tonight James? Did someone finally see sense and stand you up?" You tease him as he scowls deeply at you. You never really understood how Steve could be friends with such an arrogant player. But you never fell for his charm or tricks.

"Actually I just spotted her" Bucky whistles and a ditsy blonde turns around and sways her way over to Bucky, planting a sloppy kiss on his lips. Most of her chest exposed from her dress being too tight on her, purposely done of course. Making you roll your eyes. Steve laughed at your blunt facial expression. Bucky leads the girl away and you turn to Steve "Guess it's just me and my favourite man tonight then" You smile sweetly at him. You can see his cheeks blush a little but he brushes it off "Yes Ma'am" He nods back.

You shake you head and link your arm with his, leading him through the crowd and into the queue for the Ferris wheel.

"You know I hate heights Daisy" Steve sighs. Making you grip onto his arm tighter as he squirms a little. "The view is worth it, I promise you" You reassure him. Steve immediately taking a deep breath. He would do anything for you.

The queue moves fast and before you know it you're loaded up into your little seats and the wheel is spinning. Steve sits next to you but the seats were small making your knees touch. The contact immediately makes you chew on your lower lip anxiously. You were confident as day with Steve until it come to the little unexpected moments.

"Look Steve! It's the church!" You shout as you point it out. "Do you remember when I made you skip school and we snuck out to the top of the bell tower, just watching the world go by?" You reminisce.

Steve chuckles "Of course I remember, I failed geography class because of that day!" Steve grins.

You keep your eyes focused on the views below and above you as the wheel continues to turn.

"I told you the views were worth it" You breathe out, totally encompassed by the surroundings.

"Yeah..." Steve croaks out. Although all he was staring at was you. How your chocolate brown hair flowed in the wind as the wheel rose into the air. How your rosey blush highlighted your cheekbones. How you were wearing the small silver chain necklace with a daisy on that Steve had bought you 8 years ago for your 18th birthday. You had worn it every day since, the silver was starting to fade but you refused to take it off.

After the Ferris wheel you and Steve got some refreshments and walked around a bit more, laughing and chatting the evening away like always. Your friendship was pure and you truly enjoyed every moment you had while in his company. You first realised you felt more than friendship for him four summers ago. Bucky had the genius idea that you should all go cliff diving at the lake. Steve dragged you along like always after you reluctantly agreed. You watched as Bucky cannon balled off the edge and you took a sharp inhale.

"I can't do it, I'm scared of heights" Steve breathed out panicked as his toes peered over the edge. You could see he was frozen in fear.

You stood yourself next to him. Tip toeing over the edge to meet him. "How about we go together?" You encourage him. Steve gulps and nods. He immediately reaches for your hand. The moment his hand fitted with yours you knew. They were like a puzzle piece coming into place and you couldn't help but become overwhelmed. You both jumped and landed in the freezing lake below you. Gasping for air as the coldness hits your lungs. You both appeared out of the water and laughed together. There was something about that moment. Conquering Steve's fear with him. You and him. That just, worked. And from that moment on you were completely infatuated with him. Though you'd never admit it. You were petrified to be rejected by him, you'd been neighbours and best friends since the age of six. You couldn't risk losing that.

After a while longer of walking you both decide to head home together.

Even though you were neighbours Steve always had to walk you to the front door. He was a true gentlemen. Good and pure. That was hard to find these days. Your heart raced every time he did something for you like that, wether it was opening a door or lending you his jacket when you were cold. It may have been Cliché but it was simply Steve, and you cherished it.

As you reached your front steps you give Steve a sweet smile. "Thanks for a great night Steve" You pull him into a quick hug. You were desperate to hold him longer but you hesitated and pulled back. Trying to not make your feelings obvious.

You can see Steve's face fall slightly, you notice he's shuffling on the spot and looking down at the floor nervously. Your heart immediately pounds.

"What's wrong?" You question.

He looks up at you and you can see the fear written all over his face. "There's something I need to tell you Daisy...I'm enlisting"
