smacked his palm on his forehead, "are you fucking serious?"
his lips formed a thin line. he couldn't believe she was making it up as she went.
haru frowned, "does it look like i'm joking?"
her head tilted. she continued to dig the bobby pin around, trying to pick the lock.
"why do i not feel a click." she muttered.
her eyebrows bent up in frustration. the bobby pins weren't doing anything. it was supposed to click and then unlock the door, but that wasn't happening.
"its not like you have any better ideas." she sassed, putting her hands on her hips.
namjoon groaned, "any idea is better than following the movies."
namjoon paced around the tiny, dimly lit cell. he grabbed the ends of his hair, watching haru pick the lock.
"here let me give it a try," namjoon leaned down, whispering into her ear.
namjoon extended his palm, hoping for her to hand him the bobby pin.
"fine bitch." she huffed, "let's see if you can do any better."
haru took the bobby pin out of the lock, slamming it into namjoon's extended palm. there was no way he'd get any further than her.
"watch and learn baby."
namjoon held the black bobby pin in between his fingers, he jammed it into the keyhole. he twisted the pin around, hoping for the door to magically open.
"oh fuck."
the bobby pin had snapped in half. it fell onto the ground, outside the cell, far away from their reach.
namjoon stared into his hands. he did not just break the bobby pin.
"namjoon!" haru yelled, "you fucking idiot!"
haru rolled her eyes, fixing them onto the black bobby pin laying just out of their grasp. she pursed her lips.

"how did you fucking manage to break the bobby pin!" she hollered, "those things are literally unbreakable!"
namjoon looked down at the ground, averting his eyes away from her. he shrugged, unsure of what to say.
haru banged her head against the walls, "there goes our chance to escape."
"maybe you have another bobby pin in your hair."
haru turned towards namjoon. she clenched her fist, smashing into the wall. oddly enough, it didn't hurt her as much as she wanted it too.
she pointed towards her hair, "does it look like i have another one in my hair?"
namjoon glanced away from haru. he threw his arms around her and pulled her close into a warm hug.
"sorry," he mumbled, looking down at her face.
their world fell silent as they stared into each other's faces.
haru's arms were pinned to her sides. all her feelings of anger washed away as she stared into namjoon's black orbs.
namjoon brushed back her long brown hair, "you're making me feel things i've never felt before."
"there's just something about you, haru." her name rolled off his tongue coated in a sweet sugar, "i just can't seem to do without you."
haru's cheeks are kissed in a bright shade of pink rivaling her skin tone. her heart fluttered against her chest.
his soft lips stretched into a smile with his two crinkled dimples appearing. a feeling of warmth radiated between them.
"i didn't think you guys would be up so soon."
they pull away from each other at the sound of the voice. an empty hollowness replaced the light heat. all the happiness was swept away with a cold breeze. their smiles were wiped clean like a burnt out candle.
hyunsik comes closer towards the cell. his eyes are dark and wispy while he looks down at the two.

"i'm hurt. why didn't you tell your old man, you found a girl."
hyunsik's face is painted with a smile. his wrinkles glisten. dark shadows cast over his face in the darkness.
namjoon gritted his teeth, "as if i'd tell you anything."
hyunsik drew a finger over his lip.
"son." he mused, "i don't think your options are looking great right now."
namjoon's face is rigid, his jaw clenched tightly. he gently pushes haru behind him, gripping the bars.
"where are the others." namjoon deadpanned.
hyunsik's walked around. his shoes tap onto the ground, the only noise within the walls. he cracked his knuckles.
"they could be anywhere."
hyunsik's chuckles echoed, strangling the last bits of happiness.
"what the fuck are you going to get out of this father."
his lips upturned. he held the bars of the cells, peering straight at namjoon with narrowed eyes.
"everything."
rage consumed namjoon, "why the hell am i in here!"
"who knows." his father glanced at haru, "maybe you'll come to your senses in a day or two?"
his father clicked his shoes as his figure disappeared into the shadows.
namjoon stood in silence, watching his father fade. he balled his hands into a tight fist, collapsing onto the ground.
haru sat across from him. she stared into the deep abyss. she shivered from the cold inside the cells. her fingers and legs trembled from the icy frost.
namjoon's eyes softened. the resentment towards his father faded as he watched the girl.
he slid the black coat, he was wearing, off his shoulders.
he rose from his seat, walking over to haru, "have my coat."
"keep it namjoon. won't you feel cold?" her voice trembled, "i've been in worse situations, i can handle this."
namjoon bobbed his head to the side, "don't worry about me."
he wasn't taking no for an answer. he draped the coat over her shoulders.
"see, much better," he sat down next to haru.
the corners of her mouth lifted up into a small smile. she rested her head on namjoon's shoulder.
"i'm tired, namjoon."
namjoon hummed, bringing her in closer to him. he looked down at her face and her eyes were already shut, fast asleep.

hyunsik played with the keys in his hands, juggling them. he faced the guard opposite to him.
"don't let anything happen to namjoon." he paused, a sinister smile rose up his face, "and for the girl i've already taken care of that."
the guard frowned, "you gave it to her?"
hyunsik's eyes darkened, darting over to the small empty vial on the counter. his lips curved slightly into a smirk.
"i see the look namjoon gives the girl." hyunsik recollected the softness in namjoon's eyes, "its one of pure love, the same look i gave my wife once."
hyunsik placed the keys into the guards hand. he nodded at the guard.
"give me a ring when it's time."

Decompose!
Dear diary. When you read stories about some people missing and returning after years of absence claiming they were living in another world, your first reaction is to scoff and dismiss a story as a tall tale, right? I know I did. All the time. Until it happened to me and I no longer did. That day was today. Some god of thunder smote me. If it were Chris Hemsworth, I wouldn't mind but it was some barbaric Hitite god that abaondned Earth some four millennia ago. Yes, what can I say? I love the seventh art. I have more hours watching movies than any other activity, including sleep. What? Do you think I'm exaggerating? Maybe I am. I'll really miss hollywood the most. And my biggest regret is that I never got to visit the holy city of cinema. I did not come to another world to be a hero even though there was hints that they hoped I'd save it. I did not come with overpowered abilities able to, dunno, leap tall castles in a single bound, faster than a speeding crossbow bolt, be more powerful than a eight-horse carriage, the bounds. No. After the asshole god that murdered me brought me to his world, he gave me some boons from his discount bin and "The Power of my Soul (tm)". Forgive my french, I hope you understand I am rather upset at dying. And he somehow decided that my power is to recycle stuff. How awesome is that? Not much at first, I must admit. At least I got all my camping stuff and equipment with me. There's no lycra in the other world. I'll make it someday, but that day is not today. So here I am. In another world, in the middle of nowhere. I'm no heroine. As the song goes, I'm your basic average girl. And I'm assumed to be here to save the world. But almost everything can stop me, because I'm not named Kim. Wish me luck, diary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This novel is going have the following features: slow-paced slice-of-life No GameLit / LitRPG elements. Movie references. Sandra likes the seventh art. Journal / diary style crafting (includes chemistry, engineering and metallurgy) low magic technological advancement (for Sandra, at least. She is not against sharing though) personal relations clash of perception between the modern and ancient customs. bits of tension, fighting, and plot here and there. I won't repeat myself though. Once she crafts a good batch of soap, for example, she'll just note, "I crafted soap again." Once it is estabilished how she obtains compound X, compound X2 that is obtainable from the same process will also just be mentioned. I'll try to be as realistic as I can with the crafting, chemistry, and technology. Cover: Public Domain Image by StockSnap from Pixabay. No attribution required but we do it anyway.

It rewards punishing the evil creatures of the world: goblins, kobolds and other sorts of terrible monsters. It will surely go on for eternity.
