Ch. 28 Secrets Revealed (Prom pt.2)
••••3rd POV••••
Iris' heart was pounding out of her chest. She had no idea what Oliver was going to say next. The way he was staring at her made her more anxious.
"I've done a lot of things throughout the years...most I'm not proud of. I've hurt people...people close to me and people that didn't deserve the pain I inflicted on them." The room had gone quiet, "There's someone..in this room, who I was a complete as- jerk.. to." Oliver glances at the chaperones in the room, "And due to reasons I won't announce, they now live with me."
Iris' lips part in surprise. Is this about me? She glances around the room. Students looked curious and yet confused. The boys and Kayla were grinning, looking over at Iris. Terrence looked angry. His fists were clenched as he glared at Oliver.
"At first," Iris looks back at Oliver, "I thought it was the worst thing to ever happen to me. Now...I was able to realize all of my mistakes because of this person. And realize...how much I want to be with them." Oliver smiles, walking off the stage with the microphone in hand as Iris' cheeks flush. "So Iris," The crowd gasps, looking around to find her. "Thank you for everything you've done for me. I appreciate you more than you know."
The crowd of students clapped, some of them 'aw'ing and 'oo'ing. "Wooooo! Go get some of that, Oliver!" Then there was Lucas. The crowd laughs, clapping still at the confession.
Iris hurries over to him, wrapping her arms around him tightly. Oliver squeezes her in his arms, chuckling softly.
"Oliver, that was amazing. I can't believe you told everyone that." Iris says, looking up at him as she pulls away. "Well, I'm not exactly finished yet.." He mumbles, looking at someone in the crowd.
"Second off, I'd like to say that most of you recognize the name 'The Reaper'. Cliche, right?" Oliver teases as some people in the crowd laugh a bit, "Well everyone knows of the little..rivalry we have. But no one knows who he is. Except me....and maybe Adam, Lucas and Ross..but that's besides the point." Oliver shrugs, walking through the crowd. "He's caused me a lot of pain. Did I deserve it? Absolutely. But from him? No."
Iris purses his lips at that. Sure, Oliver kinda deserved to learn his lesson. But he didn't deserve getting his butt kicked that night. Maybe...

"Not only with the mask on..but without it as well, has he found ways to annoy me. And hopefully Iris doesn't hate me for not telling her this before but..." Oliver finally stops in front of someone, "Did you really have to go through all this trouble to irritate me, Terrence?" He asks, then hands the mic back to the leader of the prom committee.
Iris' eyes widen. It was Terrence? Was he only acting nice and flirty to get to Oliver? And why wouldn't Oliver tell me before? Iris bites her lip, feeling played. There was a hand on Iris' shoulder. When she turned to look, Kayla was there giving her a sympathetic smile.
The crowd murmurs. No one was exactly happy with the way the fight ended between Reaper and Oliver. The room was full of teens shouting as they crowded the two. Chaperones and teachers began to try and get through the crowd to break up the fight.
"That was you?"
"I can't believe you would do such a thing!"
"You're a coward for running!"
Terrence glances around at everyone, "Exposing me at prom? That's a new low..even for you." He says. Iris and Kayla push passed people to the front of the crowd. Terrence looks over at Iris and glares. "This is because of her, isn't it? If Iris wasn't in the picture, we wouldn't be here right now." Terrence looks back at Oliver.
"I think you should go home." Oliver responds instead, crossing his arms. Iris walks over to Oliver's side, looking up at Terrence. "So everything was a lie? The dates, the flirting, the prom?" She asks, looking up at him in disbelief.
He scoffs, "Don't even act like your innocent. I bet you knew who I was too and you were in on this plan. So you're also a lying b*tch!" Terrence takes a step towards her and Oliver steps in before he could move further.
"Don't even try." Oliver glares at him, hiding Iris behind him protectively. "Oliver, it's fine." She steps beside him, looking up at Terrence again. She stares at him intensely for a moment before punching him across the face. "Can't believe I tried to be nice to you.." She mutters, stepping back as she flicks her wrist a couple times to get rid of the feeling.
Oliver grins, watching as Terrence stumbles back surprised. He looks back at her, his hand against his cheek. "It's time for you to leave." Oliver tells him. Terrence looks at Oliver and the rest of the crowd who looked at him displeased. He gulps and turns away quickly, hurrying away from the scene.
Iris smiles proudly, watching him leave as the crowd of teens cheers for her and Oliver. She turns to Oliver. He faces her slowly, "Sorry for not telling you sooner...I didn't know how and-"

"Oliver, it's okay. I understand...sorta. I'm glad you told me eventually though." She says, smiling. "Right..um, hows your hand?" He asks, looking down. "Oh, it's fine..just aching a bit. I don't punch people on a regular basis." Iris shrugs, laughing softly.
"Iris!!" Kayla shouts, rushing over to her side to engulf her best friend in a hug. Iris hugs her back. "That was awesome, Iris! I didn't know you had it in you." Kayla admits, laughing as she pulls back.
"Neither did we." Lucas adds as he walks over with Adam and Ross. "She learned from the best." Oliver grins, shrugging. "Sure, whatever makes you happy, pal." Lucas teases, patting Oliver's shoulder.
"Hey, how about we ditch and head to our place?" Oliver asks the group, referring to his and Iris' house. "Yeah, why not?" Kayla replies as the others agree. "You just almost fought someone and now we're leaving prom like it's nothing?" Ross says, chuckling. "Ross, you have no right to talk about how you enter or leave a party." Lucas shakes his head, knowing how his best friend is.
"Well, sorry about that interruption everyone...even though it was entertaining, we must get back to what we were doing." The leader announces on the microphone, getting the crowds attention. "The prom king and queen must have their dance." She smiles.
"Oh, right. Forgot about that." Oliver mumbles. Addison walks over, "Um..this is gonna be awkward." She mutters to herself. "Don't worry about it, I know what to do." Oliver says and walks over to Chad who was watching from afar.
"Everyone cheer for your new prom king!" Oliver shouts, putting the crown on Chad's head. The crowd cheers, clapping along. Chad smiles, "You're not a bad guy, Oliver." He says. "Well I was..we both were. But hey, we both met people that changed our lives, don't you agree?" Oliver says, patting Chad's shoulder. Chad nods, a smile on his face as he looks over at Addison.
"Um..im sorry I don't think you can do that?" The girl on stage says. "Well...um, first time for everything, yeah? Alright, lets blow this popsicle stand!" Oliver exclaims, laughing as he makes a run for the exits. The group laughs, following after him.
*******
"What do you mean? That's definitely Jupiter!"
"It's Mars, ya idiot!"
"Jupiter!"
"Mars!"
"Jupiter!"
"Mars!"
"Jup-"
"Will you both shut up?!" Oliver exclaims, staring exasperatedly at his friends. Iris laughs, leaning against Oliver's chest as they all stared up at the night sky from the rooftop. "Sorry.." Lucas and Ross mumble, sitting next to each other. Adam and Kayla laugh, sitting in the similar position like Oliver and Iris.
They had all changed out of their fancy suits and dresses and into something more comfortable. Their pajamas. Because who doesn't like to be comfortable looking up at the night sky surrounded by their friends.
"Definitely Jupiter.." Lucas whispers to Ross who groans. The rest of them laugh as Oliver rolls his eyes. "Idiots.." He mumbles, though even he couldn't help but smile.
"Do you guys mind giving Iris and I a moment? I just need to talk to her." Oliver asks the rest of them. Ross and Lucas glance at each other, smirking then stand. "Not at all." Lucas says. Ross and him climb down to the window, going inside. "We'll be inside." Kayla adds, following after them with Adam helping her in.
Iris faces him, waiting to hear what he has to say. He sighs softly, "I know today was crazy with everything going on but..what I said earlier at prom was true. You're the best thing to ever happen to me and I don't know where I'd be without you. You make me so unbelievably happy and..my heart is beating really fast.." He chuckles nervously, "I guess what I'm saying is, Iris will you be my girlfriend?" He asks, looking into her eyes.
Iris smiles brightly, cheeks as red as a rose. "Yes Oliver, I will be your girlfriend." She answers. Oliver smiles, leaning in slowly. Iris rolls her eyes at this and closes the gap between them, putting her lips on his. They pull away a few seconds later with both of them smiling wide. "Suck on that Terrence..." Oliver mutters under his breath. Iris giggles.
"Yes! Finally!" They hear Kayla from the window. "I told you he'd confess tonight! Pay up!" Ross exclaims. "Nah ah! You said he'd do it after prom!" Lucas shouts. "Guys, shush! They'll hear you!" Adam shouts.
Iris and Oliver laugh, peeking down at the window where their friends stood. They'd all been through a lot together. This year was definitely their best year ever. And they would never forget this moment.
Especially Iris. She couldn't believe it. Her life had changed completely. It all started when she began living with her bully.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wow. The last chapter. It's crazy how far this story has come. When I first started writing it, I was still a beginner writer and I cringe when I read the first couple chapters. It's terrible. Though as I continued to write this story, I've slowly become better at writing and I'd say I've improved so much from the beginning. And I'm gonna stop there because I don't want to start crying heh...see you all in the epilogue :)
And, of course, if you enjoyed this chapter please like, comment and leave feedback! Thanks! Bye bye!
