《Living With My Bully》Ch.7 His Funeral

Hey guys! I'm really sorry about not posting for a while. Teenage Spies was supposed to come out but it wasn't ready yet so I'm updating this. Anyway, lets begin!
•••••••••••••••Iris' POV••••••••••••••
Today's the day. His funeral. I wipe my eyes again before walking downstairs. The Sullivan's sit in the living room, all dressed up and ready to go. "Iris, are you ready?" Ms.Sullivan asks in a low voice. I nod slowly. "Alright, lets get going." Ms.Sullivan says. Ms.Sullivan, Ruby, and Oliver all stand up and head to the front door. I follow behind, my head down.
I feel two arms wrap around me and I look to see Ruby smiling sympathetically. I smile back a bit and crouch down to her height, hugging back. "Thank you, Ruby. That helped me a lot." I tell her, my voice a bit shaky. "You need all the hugs you can get. Not just today, but everyday." Ruby says, still smiling. She pulls away from the hug and we leave the house together.
The car ride is silent. I stare out the window, thinking. You may be wondering, thinking about what? Well honestly, I don't know anymore. I'm thinking about too many things at once. For example, what's gonna happen in the future? I have no idea. Only time will tell. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice Oliver taking quick glances at me. What's with him?
**********************************
"We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Christopher Mitchell-" I couldn't help it, I was already in tears. I wasn't exactly listening anymore since I was constantly wiping my tears to stop the flow. I was only able to make out a few words in the priest's speech. Someone puts a hand on my shoulder. I look over to see it was Ms.Sullivan who is smiling sympathetically at me. I try to smile but fail miserably. "Don't worry hun, my family and I will help you get through this." Ms.Sullivan says. "T-thank y-you.." I'm able to stutter. Ms.Sullivan pulls me in for a hug as I continue to cry.

Soon it's my turn to go up for the eulogy. "U-um...I'd first like to say, thank you all for coming, I greatly appreciate it..I know my dad appreciates it as well. My dad was a great, generous, helpful man who would do anything for anyone. Anyone here could name so many memories with him, from going bowling, out to eat, playing sports, or just sitting on the couch watching a movie. He made everything so fun and interesting. We might not be able to make more memories with him, but we can always think back to them. My dad isn't only in a special place, but he's also in a special place in our hearts." I say, more tears pricking my eyes.
Everyone stays silent, lost in thought.
********************************
I walk over to my fathers casket, tears streaming down my face once again. "I'm really gonna miss you, dad." I whisper to myself. They finally close the casket and bury it. People come to me to pay me their respects which I then thank them for. Sadly, Kayla couldn't come to comfort me because there was something going on with her family. She kept texting me this morning, apologizing constantly. I told her it was fine, but now I'm realizing that I miss her comfort. Soon, no one else is here except me and the Sullivan's.
"I'm sorry for your loss." I hear and look over to see Oliver, "I've been in a similar situation, I may not have lost someone this way, but I definitely did lose someone. My family and I will be here for you and help you get through this." He says, biting his bottom lip.
I smile a bit through my tears. "Thank you Oliver, hearing you say that means a lot to me." I tell him.
I barely see Oliver look back through my tear-filled eyes but then I feel two arms wrap around me gently.
I gasp a bit, shocked. Oliver Sullivan - THE Oliver Sullivan - is hugging me! I slowly wrap my arms around him to hug back, he tenses up but relaxes soon. Without thinking, I bury my face into his chest and sob, not caring about getting his clothes wet. What comes next shocks me even more. His hand slowly begins almost petting my head softly. "Shh..don't worry, everything will be okay." Oliver whispers to me in a soft tone. I only continue crying. "Come on, you're stronger than this." He says. This makes me sob more. "I know you can overcome this.." Oliver adds. My sobs soon begin slowing to a stop. "There you go, good job.." He says in a calming voice, "Lets get back to the car, we can visit whenever you want."

I look up at him, he's already looking down at me. His eyes widen a little when he sees mine. "Promise?" I ask, my voice shaky. He smiles warmly. "Promise." He replies. I smile a little and wipe my eyes. "Thank you." I say. Oliver nods in response.
Oliver turns his head a little. "The car is a bit far.." He mumbles. He turns back to me, stares at me for a moment, before turning around and bending down a bit. Woah man, we don't even know each other that well... I give him a confused look as he looks back at me. "Hop on, I'll carry you to the car." Oliver says. I hesitantly hop onto his back. He begins walking to the car, I bury my face into the crook of his neck. Why is he being so nice to me? I guess he feels bad...
We get to the car and I hop off his back. I open the door for me and get in, Oliver closes the door behind me and he gets in the passengers seat in the front of me. I look over and see that Ruby is asleep. It's silent as we begin to go back to the Sullivan's house. I soon begin to doze off.
•••••••••••••Oliver's POV••••••••••••••
I look into the passenger side mirror to see Iris sleeping in the back. I smile a bit to myself. "Thank you for doing that Oliver, I saw you look back at the car too." My mom says. I turn to her. "It's no problem, she just needed someone to talk to, someone that would understand her." I reply, looking back out the window, thinking about . "You're right, she needs you to be there for her, especially right now." My mom tells me. I nod, understanding what she meant. "Okay, I'll try to be nicer." I say. "Thank you." My mom says. "Mhmm." I hum.
Nicer? To nerd? I'll do my best, I guess. I glance back at her through the mirror. I can't make any promises.
**********************************
I open the car door to where nerd is still found sleeping. I don't blame her, she was up all nights crying. Yeah, I heard her and it was the worst to hear her so upset. I didn't tell her or my mom or Ruby that I heard her crying, it would just be weird. I sigh and pick her up bridal style. I begin carrying her up to her room. Once we get there, I lay her on her bed, take her shoes off, give her her giant teddy bear, and cover her with her blankets. Damn, aren't I just the greatest? I'm about to close her door but not before giving her a final glance.
••••••••••••••••Iris' POV•••••••••••••••••
I start to wake up, yawning. I expected to wake up in the car but no. I'm faced with all my posters and Mr.Snuggles. How did I get here?! I check the time on my phone. 4:36 am?! Woah, woah, woah...did I not eat dinner?!

Heroes and monsters are the staples of fantasy. Swords and magic, fairies and dragons, adventures and death; all things went hand in hand in some worlds not our own. Yet one night she found herself in a dream that became reality, and oh there they were; heroes and monsters, swords of steel, magic of tales, fairies and dragons of old, and adventures that held riches and death both. She had no fantastic magic, no supernatural strength. All she had was herself, her coin, and her life. But that was enough. As she stared into the distance, to the mountain-sized horrors of the night, she smiled and tossed her coin once again.

Taken to Another World by Mistake
I was once a typical high schooler. Then those horrible godesses abducted me to their world and made me a hero. Sounds great being a hero doesn't it?
