《Break my Heart》| 7 |

The next morning I woke up to the warmth gone. It was a different warmth then my duvet provided. It was the warmth of anothers, Jack specifically, body. My face grew solemn at the thought of that warmth being gone.
Ally was right. I was desperately falling for this boy. I sat up in my bed and rubbed the tiredness out of my eyes. I stretched my arms in the air. I hate when Ally is right. She usually is but I try not to believe it.
"Good morning sleeping beauty," I opened my eyes to see a shirtless Jack slipping his socks on. "Why so down?"
"Morning. I'm just tired," I gave him a weak smile. I was already starting to miss the sound of someone else's heartbeat. It scares me when I hear my own. It makes me feel too aware. But hearing someone else's made me know that someone else was alive and I wasn't as lonely.
"Well get up and get dressed. You have 30 minutes," he stuck his tongue out at me as he walked into my bathroom.
"Really Jack? Why didn't you wake me up sooner?" I called after him. I jumped up from my spot on the bed and ran to my dresser. Ah, crap. I have to wear the jersey. I DIDN'T ASK MY MOM.
I ran to the top of the stairs and shouted down them. "Mother! Can I go to Jack's football game tonight?"
"Sure! Make sure he brings you back to me!"
"I will! Thank you!"
I ran back into my room and grabbed a tank top from my drawer. I threw Jack's jersey on over the tank top and slipped into some jeans. I went over to my mirror and brushed the knots out of my hair.
I was a time freak. I feel rushed even with thirty minutes. I knocked on my bathroom door trying to see what Jack was doing. "Can you hurry whatever you're doing?"
I heard a gargled response. I guessed he was brushing his teeth. "I have to do my hair. Just open the door?"
I heard the lock being unlocked. I slipped through the door and got beside Jack at the mirror. I started my hair grabbing my toothbrush in the process. I brushed my teeth while trying to do my hair. I didn't succeed too well but I figured it was fine.
Jack and I spit out our toothpaste at the same time. His toothpaste ended up hitting the side of my face. "Awe gross."
I quickly grabbed the hand towel and wiped my face. "Sorry!"
"It's fine just put your jersey on," I rinsed the sink of the toothpaste spit and continued my hair.
When I finished my hair I went back into my room. I sat down beside Jack on my bed and put my socks on. "What shoes do you think will work well with this?"
"Converse."
"Got it," I stepped over to my closet and grabbed some converse.
I put my shoes on and checked the time. Ten minutes to spare. I grabbed my phone and laid on my bed. I checked to see if I had any notifications. I had another text from Ally.
"What was that?" I looked back at Jack who was looming over my shoulder. He had a smirk on his face. I don't see why. He doesn't like me.
"Nothing," I smiled over my shoulder at him. I cut my screen off so he couldn't see anything else.

"You sure?" he raised his eyebrow.
"Positive."
"If you say so," he grabbed his keys from where they were.
"Don't we look like a real couple?" I did a weird pose in front of my mirror.
Jack laughed at my weirdness. He wrapped his arms around my hips from behind me. I couldn't help but let a grin form on my lips. As I looked in the mirror at the both of us I could see just how much we really did look like a couple. A happy one at that.
"Let me take a picture," I grabbed my phone from my back pocket. I held Jack's hand with my free hand and took the picture.
I heard Jack let out what sounded like a content sigh, but that couldn't have been right. I'm imagining stuff lately. His breath tickled my neck, making me lean my head back in an attempt at shielding my neck.
"We should go," I giggled and detached his arms from my waist with my hands.
"Probably," he groaned and walked towards the door.
I walked after him down the stairs. I tried keeping out of sight from my Mom so she couldn't see the jersey. When we reached the front door I knew we were safe so I turned around.
"Bye Mom!" I yelled and ran out of the door with Jack. We got into his car and he started to drive.
"This picture is adorable," I smiled and waited for him to stop at a red light. I showed him the picture and a grin broke onto his face.
"Adorable," he smiled at me and then continued to drive as the light turned green.
"I'll post it on Instagram and then you can post it after so Ellie can see it," I watched his expression. It was unreadable really. I think I saw confusion and then realization but it was just a thought.
"Sounds good," I nodded and turned towards the window.
The rest of the way was mostly silent besides the music playing from the radio. When Jack pulled into the school parking lot I grabbed my book bag from the back. I got out of the car and went to the drivers side of the car. I opened his door for him and watched as he climbed out.
"Such a gentlelady," he fanned his face.
I bowed and pretended to tip my imaginary hat. "Why thank you kind sir."
Jack and I started to laugh. His hand grabbed mine and we started walking. I gently swung our hands back and forth between us. People stared at us as we randomly started laughing at something weird the other did.
When we got to our lockers we split ways. I let my hand linger on his as we went separate ways. Ally looked frantic as I walked towards my locker and to her.
"Why do you always get here so early?" I tilted my head at her.
"My Mother works here. You know that," she shook her head a little. "Now tell me about this."
"Okay, I sorta kinda like Jack," I sighed as the sad truth came out of my mouth for the first time. I opened my locker and started rummaging through it.
"Awe I told you it would happen," she gave me a sympathetic smile. "But think about it, if you stay friends with Jack after he breaks it off, when Ellie breaks his precious little heart he'll come to you first. Then you can swipe him up."

"What if I...can't?" I let my gaze fall to the floor. "What if I'm too heartbroken to be friends with him?"
"To hell with heartbreak. You have to stay friends with him," as the words came from her mouth I let a weak laugh leave my lips. I remembered the promise I made Jack. I had to stay friends with him. Even if it hurt.
"I made a promise to him last night," I closed my locker. "I promised to stay friends with him. I can't break that."
"That's the spirit! Now just keep that afterwards," she looked me up and down at that moment. A smirk broke over her face. "You're wearing his away jersey."
"Yeah. He asked me to," I let a small smile come over my face.
"You two are too cute not to stay together," she smiled at me. We started to walk together to our class.
"I think you and Finn would make a good couple," I stated with a smirk.
"Really? He's cute," she looked over her shoulder at the group of boys.
"The best couple," I nodded my head, continuing on.
"Look at Jack. I think he wanted me to get you," she tapped my shoulder. I looked towards where he was.
Sure enough Jack was waving at me. I rolled my eyes. "Stop right here," I gave Ally a little tap.
I turned around fully, Ally following. I started waving dramatically back, jumping up and down. "Oh we're doing this now, okay."
I saw Ally start to wave too. Soon enough the whole group of Jack's friends was waving at us. We all started laughing after we were done. We definitely got the attention of the people in the hallway.
Ally and I started to walk to our class again. "So you and Finn."
"What about us?"
"Trying to make a ship name. Fally, or Alin?"
"I don't know. Whichever you want to call us," she shrugged.
"You're so up for this," I laughed.
"I mean, once you start you won't stop so I'm up for anything," she laughed with me.
"Awe thanks. Love you too," I blew her a kiss.
"You know it," she blew me a kiss back.
"Y/s/n/a! [ship name with Ally]" a voice yelled behind us. Before I could turn around I felt an arm around my shoulders.
"Sophia? You're never this early," Ally raised an eyebrow at Sophia.
"Ah, y'know as your elder it's harder to wake up in the morning. No motivation," Sophia gave an exasperated sigh.
"You're only a year older than us," I giggled.
"Exactly. I'm your elder, older than you," Sophia lightly smacked my cheek.
"Is that actually how it works?" Ally gave me a surprised look.
"Of course it is," Sophia nodded her head.
"Y/n, you're dating your elder," Sophia snorted from what Ally said.
"Don't say that, it sounds weird," I sighed at my friends.
"This is my class, bye guys," Sophia pulled our heads together. She let go of us and waved as she went into her classroom.
"You are dating your elder," Ally looked back at me with a smirk.
"I'm only a year younger," I rolled my eyes with a smile across my lips.
"A year is still a difference," she shrugged.
"A month is still a difference," I imitated Ally.
"Does that even relate to our conversation?"
"It does now."
"A day is still a difference," she challenged me.
"An hour is still a difference," I challenged back.
"A minute is still a difference," she smirked at her choice.
"A second is still a difference," I smirked.
"Shit!" she threw her fist out in front of her in frustration. I laughed at her reaction.
"Did you not see that coming?" I walked into our class.
"I honestly didn't," she shook her head in defeat.

"Punch her again today?" Keith asked as I walked to my seat.
"Nah," I smiled at him.
"Awe, I was hoping for drama," he shook his head in mock disappointment.
"Sorry I couldn't provide today," I shrugged and messed with my binder.
"Is that Jack's jersey?"
"Ding ding ding, you are correct. It's his away jersey," I did jazz hands at his question.
"I still can't understand you being with him," Keith leaned his head on his hand, propping himself up.
"You would think differently if you knew how he really is," I rested my head on my crossed arms resting on the table.
"I don't have to know him to know the way he treats girls."
"Yeah but he's not bad. He's so much better then he shows," I started getting a little upset at the way Keith talked about Jack. Jack was my best friend.
"Okay. I'll leave it at that," Keith held his hands up.
"Please do," I gave him a weak smile.
Ellie walked into the room a little after Keith and I's conversation broke off. Her brown eyes met mine and they soon widened. She then glared at me as she sat down at her seat. If it wasn't for the teacher being in the room I probably would've been chewed out.
"She looks mad," I turned my head around to meet Keith's gaze.
"Well she did just find out her ex's girlfriend is in one of her classes."
"She didn't know?"
"She would've yelled yesterday if she did."
"Her nose still looks sore," Keith raised an eyebrow. "How hard did you hit her?"
"Pretty hard. She deserved it though," I smiled broadly.
"You're really proud of that aren't you?"
"Who would I be if I wasn't?"
"Not you, that's for sure."
"Ding ding ding, he's correct again! He's on a role today ladies and gentlemen."

"You're such a little bitch aren't you?" Ellie pushed me against the sink to the girls bathroom. She overpowered me with her groupies.
"I like to think I'm not," I glared at the girl before me, giving an innocent smile.
"You're such a little rat. Oh what's this? Jack's jersey? What would he do if you were to rip it?" Ellie grabbed my arm as I tried to get away from her.
I spit in her face causing her to let me go. I ran towards the exit, slipping past her groupies. I pushed the door open and ran down the hallway.
I slid to a stop when I heard footsteps, thinking it might be a teacher. I ran my hands along my arms as I walked along. I felt vulnerable with what Ellie could've done to me. Thankfully I have my spit handy.
I walked to my locker with my head down. I had looked over Jack's jersey many times, checking to see if it had ripped. When I got close to my locker I lifted my head up from looking at the ground.
My gaze met a pair of brown eyes. Jack was pacing in front of my locker. When he saw me he stopped pacing and quickly walked over to me.
"Why are you so late?" he looked really worried.
"I got held up by..." I trailed off. How would he reply if I told him what Ellie did? I couldn't tell him. "A teacher."
"Why'd you pause?" he looked a little concerned.
"No reason," I gave him a small, fake smile.
"Come on, I know when something's wrong. You have that look on your face that screams, I'm traumatized, and you were rubbing yours arms," he grabbed my shoulders and looked straight into my eyes.
"Nothing's wrong," I shrugged my shoulders under his grip.
"You sure?" he gave me those puppy dog eyes.
"I'm....not really," I shook my head and looked at the ground. Damn you puppy dog eyes.
"What really happened," Jack embraced me into his warm arms.
"You won't believe me, you love her," I balled his shirt into my fists.
"Ellie?" the surprise on his tongue filled my suspicions. He wouldn't believe me. I gently nodded my head despite myself.
"What did she do?"
"She pushed me into the bathroom with her groupies. After that she pinned me against the sink and threatened to rip your jersey," I avoided his gaze.
"Really?" he seemed a little suspicious.
I let out a sad laugh. "I told you you wouldn't believe me."
