《Break my Heart》| 3 |

I sat on the bleachers beside the football field alone, watching Jack practice. He was actually really fast. Faster than most of the others on the field.
Occasionally he would send a wink my way, to which I would roll my eyes. Fake dating him was actually turning out to be a little fun. I had someone to tease now and I had a reason to talk back to Ellie.
After lunch Jack apologized many times for what Ellie did. He even said I could back out of the deal. Honestly I thought he was being dramatic. I agreed and won't back out with something that Ellie did. I just want to make her even more jealous. She has spread around that I was a jealous bitch anyway. I'll just throw the title back at her.
Other times today, when Jack would see me in the hallways, he would come up to me and give me little pecks on the cheek. They made me feel better than they should have. I knew I had to stop caring about them or I would get hurt.
After Jack's practice was done he made his way over to me. When he got closer I could see the sweat falling from his chin. He was accompanied by Finn and Jaeden, who were equally as sweaty. They didn't smell pleasant either. Jack tried to get close to me but I wouldn't let him.
"How can one sweat so much?" I asked them, slowly getting up out of my seat on the bench.
"Come give me a hug," Jack looked up at me with those puppy dog eyes.
"Nope. You smell terrible," I plugged my nose with my pointer finger and thumb.
"Aw, come on," Jack started getting closer.
"Nuh-uh," I backed away from him, still holding my nose.
"Aw give him a hug," Jaeden had a smirk on his face standing beside Finn.
Jack started running towards me. I quickly turned on my heel and ran as fast as I could in the opposite direction. Of course Jack has had more practice in the field of running than me so he easily caught up. He scooped me into his sweaty arms and buried his sweaty face in my neck.
"Aw gross," I whined as he soaked me. "These are Sophia's clothes."
"That won't make me stop," I could tell Jack was having fun tormenting me with his sweat.
"You're such a bully," I stated as he let me go. "And you guys didn't save me. I thought we were buds Finn."
"We are buds but Jack's a better bud."
"Aw you're mean too," I huffed and crossed my arms over my chest. I wiped some of the sweat off my cheek. "Go take a quick shower. I'm not going anywhere."

"What if some boy tries to get you," Jack's eyebrows knitted together.
"If you're that worried just give me your keys so I can sit in the car. And yes, I promise not to open the car door for strangers," I rolled my eyes and shoved Jack a bit.
"One sec, let me go grab my car keys. Jaeden stay and protect her," Jack pointed at Jaeden and ran to his bag.
My eyes widened. His bag wasn't even that far away. "He was serious?" I looked over at Jaeden and Finn with a cocked eyebrow.
"He must care for you a lot more than he does other girls. If they said that he would just leave them on the bench," Finn looked confused as well. We all stared at Jack as he rummaged through his bag. He grabbed his keys and a hoodie.
"Yeah," Jaeden agreed with Finn. "But he has known you longer than most. I'm surprised he even hooked up with you."
Jaeden's words confirmed my suspicions of them not knowing about the fake relationship. Jack appeared by my side after the conversation and handed me his keys and hoodie.
"Here's my keys, the car is in the parking lot near the front. My hoodie is for you to wear so you don't miss me too long," he ended with a wink.
I rolled my eyes but smiled a bit. "Yeah sure. Thanks for the things. Now go smell terrible somewhere else."
"Awe you love me."
"Keep telling yourself that," I winked at Jack and started to walk away.
I made it to the car with no interruptions and unlocked it. I opened the back door of his car and put my book bag into the seat. I closed the back door and got into the passengers side. I threw his hoodie in over my head and sat in my seat. I plugged my phone into his aux chord and played some music while I waited.

I heard Jack's voice outside of the car. I turned my head to see him talking to Ellie. A small pang of jealousy hit my heart. I mentally scolded myself for being this way.
I saw Ellie trying to get closer to Jack. He looked my way and we locked eyes. I looked down slightly before looking back up. Jack pulled away from Ellie's hold on his arm and started walking to the car. He got in and sat beside me quickly locking the doors. He ran a hand through his hair.
"Why did you pull away?"
"I don't really know," he started the car and pulled backwards.
"You don't think you're getting over her that quickly do you?" I looked down at my phone and tried to change it to a song he'd like.

"Definitely not," he replied, continuing on. "You hungry?"
"Always," I looked over at him and smiled.
"Fast food?" he asked.
"Fast food," I confirmed for him.
We rode in silence, only hearing the music from the aux. I was constantly checking the songs to see if they were fine for me to play before he stopped me.
"Just let them play, I don't mind."
We made it to the fast food place and he ordered for me. I was going to protest until he perfectly recited my order to the box. Before he could order for himself I spoke up for him. After that he ordered a milkshake and pulled forward in the drive through line. We started laughing after the box man couldn't hear us.
"Can I have some of that milkshake?" I asked after we got our food.
"Sure," he rolled his eyes and stuck the straw into the cup. He gave it to me and I sipped it. "I ordered it for us both anyway."
"Really?" I asked him.
"Yep."
"But there's only one straw."
"Can you share a milkshake with me?" Jack raised an eyebrow and grabbed the cup out of my hand. He drank out of the straw I used.
"I guess I can," I took the cup back and sipped from the straw.
"Good cause I'm not buying another one," Jack laughed a bit and stopped the car in a parking space.
I giggled and grabbed my food out of the bag. "At least you're honest."
"Damn right I am," he grinned at me, taking the bag of food. He grabbed his stuff and set the bag in between us.
"So what was Ellie trying to talk to you about?" I started eating my food.
"Trying to seduce me," he shrugged and looked out his window.
"You didn't give in?" I was surprised he didn't pick her up on the spot and run away with her.
"No I didn't."
"What if I tried to seduce you? I bet I could," I was obviously joking but he looked over at me with wide eyes. I'm guessing he thought I wasn't joking.
"Really?"
"No. I was joking. I've never even thought about seducing someone. I just like to tease," I stuck my tongue out at him and continued to eat.
"How do you tease then?"
I swallowed the food I had in my mouth. "I tease by swaying my hips more or making you think I was going in for a kiss but go for the cheek."
"Those are mean. You'll get all the guys hungry if you do that," he leaned back against his seat, eyeing me.
"Eyes off the prize Jack," I giggled and took a sip of milkshake.
"Don't people tell us to keep our eyes on the prize usually?" Jack gave me a smirk.
"Stop being smooth," I giggled and gave Jack the milkshake cup. I was almost done with my food by now. I ate mildly fast.
"I'm always smooth."
"Yeah right," I rolled my eyes and worked on the last bit of my food.
When we both finished our food, Jack started the car again. He drove to my house, a peaceful silence settled between us. It was the silence that didn't make you scared to break or make you nervous.
When we made it to the house we both got out of his car. He walked me to my front porch. I wrapped him in a warm hug. In the middle of our hug my Mom bursted through the door, worry written across her features.
"Where were you? You almost gave me a heart attack," she waved her hands around in frustration.
"I was just watching Jack's football practice. He bought me dinner also. I was fine Mom," I gave her a reassuring smile. I let go of the hug with Jack and went over to my Mom. I wrapped my arms around her in a hug. Two hugs in one night, score.
"Please just give me a heads up, okay? I worry," she ran a hand through my hair.
"Okay, I'll give you a heads up next time," I released the hug and turned to Jack.
"Goodbye Jack," I ruffled his curls before going inside. My Mom waved to him and came in behind me, shutting the door.
She ran a hand through her hair, a look of distress crossing her face. She went to the couch and sat down. She turned the television on and turned her show on.
I silently walked up the stairs to my room. I laid across my bed and plugged my phone into the charger. I scrolled through my social medias before deciding to change.
I got up and looked at myself in the mirror. I noticed that I still had Jack's hoodie on. Curious, I grabbed the hoodie near the neck area and smelled it. It smelled like the cologne Jack used. It was a familiar scent. A good one.
I took my pants off and kept the hoodie on. I fell back onto my bed, wrapping myself in the covers. I laid still for a moment, eyes closed, before the soft buzz of my phone vibrated the bedside table.
I sat up from the sheets I had wrapped myself in and leaned over the side of my bed to see what the notification was. The notification turned out to be a text from Jack. I opened my phone and looked at it to reply.
After reading the text, I smiled to myself. I quickly typed my reply and sent it.
