《new | jack grazer》thirty five

After the party Jack dropped me off at home, then went back to his house since he apparently had plans in the morning and I couldn't sleep over. I fell right asleep once I got home and woke up around noon, which was pretty late for my standards. I still felt slightly guilty for the Finn thing, but I knew I'd get over it soon. I asked Jack to hang out, but he reminded me that he was busy today and I probably could come over tomorrow instead. I decided to use the day as a study day, because school was becoming intense and I knew the workload would only increase as time went on. I shut off my phone and focused on doing homework until lunch, going downstairs to make myself a grilled cheese and checking my texts. To my surprise, Finn had texted me an hour ago.
Yo
hey
sorry my phone was off
He responded almost instantly.
Its ok
whats up
I just wanted to say I'm glad we're close again
I like spending time with you
aww finn

and ive been meaning to thank you
for being so nice and empathetic towards me lately
ily

Oh and one more thing
yes?
About that kiss last night
Wanna do it again?
I almost dropped my phone in shock. What had he just said? Not only was what he was saying unbelievable, the words he used were exactly what he had texted me after our first kiss outside of the movies all those months ago. My hands were shaking as I typed a response.
finn wtf

You can't tell me you didn't like kissing me
I think we should like hook up again
We have so much fun when we're together

Just simple fun

i deadass don't know what to say
im so shocked
I put down my phone, not really sure what to do next. There was no way I could show this to Jack, I wouldn't want to ruin his friendship with Finn. So I texted the only other person I knew could help me. Ellie.
ELLIE
HELP ME
What
I explained what was happening, including screenshots from my conversation with Finn. She left me on read for a few minutes before responding.
Jesus Madison
Sometimes I can't stand you
what???
Its not fair
You get everything you want
what are you talking about
You got Jack while he was with me

Yes. You did.
And now you have Finn
And you KNOW I like him
i can't control him
i can't make him like you
Youre so selfish
Just leave me alone
ok??
I guess that explained her behavior for the past week. She was jealous. But there wasn't much I could do about it now. I swiped back to my conversation with Finn.
I think this is something we both want
you literally cheated on me
and now you expect me to cheat on Jack
whos your BEST FRIEND

I finished my lunch and got dressed, packing a pair of pajamas and my phone charger incase I happened to end up sleeping over. My parents were having a dinner party, so I probably wouldn't want to come home anyway. I walked over, enjoying the warm air, and arrived to see the boys outside. Finn was leaning against the garage door smoking a cigarette and watching Jack, who was skateboarding in his driveway. Finn saw me first, waving and motioning for me to join him.
"Hey," I greeted him. Jack was attempting to do a kickflip and hadn't acknowledged my presence yet.
"Dude, we got you so fucking good," Finn laughed, ignoring my greeting.
"Oh my god, I hate you so much," I giggled. He laughed harder. "I was so scared! I literally thought you were a horrible person for a minute!"
"Hey, don't blame me. It was all Jack's idea," he pointed out. Jack had now skated down the street, and was not paying any attention to us.
"You guys are awful," I groaned. Finn shrugged. "But I meant what I said," I added. "You've been a great friend to me lately. It means a lot."
"I meant what I said too. You're the best." He cast a look over his shoulder, flicking his cigarette to the ground and crushing the remaining embers with his shoe. He stepped closer, looking down at me. "Are you sure you want to decline my offer?" He asked, his voice low. I exhaled, shocked and blinking in confusion. His face was serious, but in a matter of seconds he was laughing. "You should have seen your face! I'm kidding, by the way," he grinned, still laughing.
"I really hate you," I smiled. We talked for a little as Jack continued to skate, and I suddenly remembered something that had happened a while ago that I had never told Finn.
"Do you remember that one time that Jack and I got really drunk and you facetimed us and you were like practicing with your band or something?" I asked. He nodded. "I'm only telling you this because I feel like you deserve to know, but um, Jack and I kissed that night. We were really really drunk and, I just had like, a lapse in judgement? I don't know. But I feel like you should know, and I felt awful for weeks and-"
"Madison, it's fine. I already knew," he laughed, cutting me off.
"What? You knew?" I said, shocked.
"Of course I knew. Your hair was messy, your clothes were messy, and you kept wiping your mouth. But I really knew because you kept biting your lip, which you always do after you kiss someone," he explained.
"Oh. Do I really do that?" I wondered. He nodded. "Well, why didn't you like, say something if you knew?"
"I did, actually. Well, I talked to Jack about it. He told me to pretend it never happened, so I did. It was just a mistake, I didn't really care."
"I'm glad we had this conversation. And I'm glad we can talk about things like this now. I know I've been saying this all day, but you're truly a great friend."
"Thanks. That means a lot," he grinned.

Samuel Grady is alone. Isolation seems necessary to finish his novel, and his cousin hooks him up with a lonely cliff-top cabin with no electricity. It's perfect, until his obsessions with his secretive landlord, his landlord's cycloptic manservant, and the blood which streams down the cabin's windows entirely unseat his cozy reality.
8 92Tales of Light
These are a collection of short stories following different narratives. It's more like a playground and experimenting with ideas or subjects I don't want to write a complete story about. It's also a place to test my skills as a writer. Think of it as a notebook of un/finished ideas. Feel free to pick and choose which chapters to read. They aren't related unless specifically said otherwise. Just relax, enjoy, and cringe at goofy stories. There may be a timeline of events, or not... who knows?
