We returned to Jack's car, our ice cream finished and our feet tired from walking.

"Where to now?" I asked as Jack pulled out of his parking spot.

"Home," he answered simply. I was expecting somewhere else, but honestly going home didn't sound too bad. Even though we didn't really do that many activities, I still had the amazing night Jack had promised. It was a solid first date, and it made me look forward to many more. Jack put on some music, and I stared out the window, smiling to myself as I recounted the night. Jack began to sing along to the radio, and by the time we pulled into my driveway, his simple humming and evolved into a full blown performance. As I watched him sing and dance, I had an epiphany. Well, technically it was something I had already known, but I felt more reassured that ever.

"I love you," I said suddenly.

"What?" he responded, lowering the music to a dull throb.

"I love you. Like, I really love you. I know we're so young and it sounds so dumb, but I know it's true. It's not like those stupid couples that date for a week then say they're gonna get married then break up a month later, you know? I'm serious when I say this. I love you." Jack didn't respond, he just stared at me, and he looked a little stunned. "Oh my god, did I scare you? I-I'm sorry- I was just being honest-" I added quickly, but he interrupted me.

"No no, I was just- nevermind. I love you too. It's just- sometimes I think I like you more than you like me. So you saying that really... I don't know. Thank you," he explained. I smiled.

"Don't ever think that," I assured him. We were silent for a little, before Jack spoke.

"So did you have fun tonight?" he asked.

"This was the best date I've ever been on," I replied. And it was true. Even if we had going to Mcdonalds, which I would have hated, by the way, it still would have been the best date I'd ever been on. Because it wasn't about the date itself, it was about the person. And when that person was Jack, well, you get it.

"Good. So, I have a question for you," he proposed.

"Yes?"

"Madison Moreau, will you do the honor of being my girlfriend?"

"Yes," I grinned. Jack leaned in, grabbing my face and joining our lips. The seatbelt was digging into my side uncomfortably as I moved closer, and Jack, as if reading my mind, reached to unbuckle it. We didn't stop, despite the uncomfortable circumstances, until Jack's arm accidently hit the steering wheel and triggered the car horn. We jumped apart, startled, then laughed awkwardly. I gave him one last kiss, then held the back of his neck so our foreheads were pressed together.

"Thanks for tonight. I had a really good time," I breathed.

"I'm glad," he replied. I got out of the car, grabbing my roses from the backseat and giving Jack his jacket back, which he had already half taken off me after he'd unbuckled my seatbelt. I waved to him once I'd gotten inside, before I closed the door, and watched as he drove away. I immediately went into the kitchen, to get a vase for my flowers, passing my parents who were sitting on the couch and watching the news.

"Oh, those flowers are very nice! Who are they from?" my mom asked, watching me as I filled a vase with water.

"They're from Jack," I said, trying not to give too much away.

"That's nice of him," she responded simply, and turned back to the tv.

I got ready for bed, smiling like an idiot the whole time because I couldn't stop thinking about Jack. He genuinely made me so happy I couldn't even put it into words.

I didn't even remember falling asleep, I just remember being woken up by my mom and being called down for breakfast. I didn't have any plans for the day, so I did what I usually do when I'm bored and texted Jack.

gooooood morning

any plans for today??

I set down my phone and finished my toast, because I didn't expect Jack to be awake for another hour or two. But to my surprise, there was a response waiting for me when I checked my phone again.

I got dressed, grabbed my laptop and backpack, and walked over to Jack's. He opened the door for me, still in his pajamas, and holding a cup of coffee.

"Oh god, the last thing you need is coffee," I greeted him, grabbing the cup from his hands and taking a sip.

"Hello to you too. And sorry, I'm really tired, I was up late thinking about some stupid girl named Madison," he explained.

"Hmmm, she sounds familiar," I grinned as he lead me upstairs.

"Alright, let's get to work," he said, flopping onto his bed and picking up the book we were supposed to read for english. I sat down on his carpet, pulling out my computer and beginning to write.

Four hours later, we were both drained, and nowhere near done with our work. Jack kept distracting me, and by the time I had finished my introduction paragraph three hours had gone by. Jack wasn't even finished reading the book yet.

"This is useless," he whined.

"Ok, well technically it's our fault for procrastinating," I sighed. He groaned.

"But how am I supposed to focus when we could be doing other things," he pouted.

"Hey, just think, if we get this done, you can go to the party tonight! Yay," I offered. He shrugged, and we resumed our work, occasionally stopping to help each other or exchange a brief kiss.

It was nine when I finally finished my essay, and Jack, who had only just started his introduction, had gotten a text from Finn.

"Madison, are we going to the party? Finn wants to know. He said he's driving and he's wondering if he should pick us up," Jack asked. While I was done with my essay, I still had to edit it. And Jack was nowhere near done.

"We didn't finish our work," I pointed out. Jack frowned.

"But I really want to go. Please?" he begged. I sighed, knowing what was going to happen next.

"How about you go, and I write your essay for you," I proposed. Jack grinned.

"Really? You'd do that for me? Thank you, oh my god, thank you!" He leaned down and kissed me. "I mean, you don't have to. I can stay here, if that's best," he added quickly. I shook my head.

"It's fine, really, I don't mind. Go have fun," I encouraged him.

"Great. Finn's picking me up in five minutes, so I gotta get ready." He hadn't changed all day, and he was still wearing his pajamas from this morning.

"Should I just go home now?" I asked as Jack picked out his outfit.

"Why don't you just spend the night, I probably won't be out late," he offered, and I agreed. We heard Finn's car pull up outside, and Jack kissed my cheek before walking out the door.

"Text me if you need anything," I called after him, hearing the front door close. His parents were home, but they usually didn't bother us when I was over unless we needed something.

After he left, I got to work on his essay. I knew his writing style well enough to make to seem believable, but I still made sure he'd get a good enough grade. Without Jack here to distract me, I was able to finish his essay in a little over an hour. After I finished his, I edited mine, then got ready for bed. I always kept a spare toothbrush at his house, and I borrowed one of his shirts to sleep in. I had just finished brushing my teeth when I got a text.

I sighed, knowing I'd have to deal with him when he came home. I got into his bed, retrieving my laptop and deciding to watch youtube or something until he returned. He called me around ten, and we had a brief but amusing conversation.

"Madison! Heyyyy," he yelled. Defining music could be heard in the background, and his voice was almost lost in all the noise.

"Hi, what's up," I said. He didn't respond, but I heard him laughing and talking to someone, though I couldn't make out what he was saying. I managed to hear another voice, Finn, through all the chaos.

"Who are you on the phone with?" Finn asked.

"Uhhhhh," I heard Jack respond, then, "Oh! Madison. Sorry, I didn't mean to call you." He hung up after that. I didn't really mind, I was just glad he was having fun.

I ended up falling asleep, and was awoken by the front door slamming shut. I heard heavy feet on the stairs, and I got up as the bedroom door was flung open. Finn was standing in the hall, with Jack's arm around his shoulders.

"Hi, sorry, he's really drunk, and kinda high, so I thought it'd be best if I brought him up," Finn explained, dragging Jack into the room.

"Heyyyy Madison," Jack said, and you could tell he was very far gone.

"Are you drunk too?" I asked Finn, who sounded relatively normal.

"No, I didn't drink. But I am really fucking high, we were hotboxing in my car," he informed me, and upon closer inspection I could see his eyes were pretty red.

"You're so hot, oh my god. Not you Finn, Madison. Well, you're pretty hot too, actually. But I'm not gay," Jack slurred, a little too loudly.

"Be quiet, your parents are sleeping," I hissed. He rolled his eyes.

"You look good in my shirt," he mumbled, taking a step forward and nearly falling.

"Ok, you need to go to sleep," I instructed, catching him and sitting him on his bed.

"I should probably head out, my parents might be worried," Finn said.

"Are you sure you're ok to drive? You can sleep on the couch, if you want. Or use one of Jack's sleeping bags," I offered.

"I'm fine," he replied.

"At least use some eye drops, your eyes are literally bright red," I insisted. He agreed, and I went to the bathroom to retrieve them. When I came back, Jack was fast asleep. I pulled the covers over him, tucking him in snugly.

"Here, I'll put them in for you," I said, and Finn crouched down so I could reach his eyes. I steadied his head by placing my hand in his hair, and carefully squeezed drops from the bottle.

"You know, Jack wouldn't stop talking about you tonight," Finn laughed, blinking so the eye drops could go into his eyes smoothly.

"Really?"

"Really. He's fucking whipped, Mads," he smiled. "Thanks for the eye drops," he added, standing up and pulling me in for a somewhat awkward hug.

"Text me when you get home," I said.

"Will do," he grinned, walking out the door. I slipped into bed next to Jack, and he put his arm around me sleepily.

"Goodnight, I love you," he whispered.

"Love you too," I replied, kissing his forehead gently. I didn't go back to sleep until I heard my phone buzz.
