I woke up a little earlier than usual, excited for school. Not because I was actually excited for school, but because going to school meant seeing Jack. I got ready, packed my lunch, with a little something special for Jack, and ate breakfast in record time, running out of my house and to the bus stop before my parents could even say goodbye. Much to my surprise, however, Jack was already waiting for me.

"Good morning," he grinned, walking to greet me and kissing my cheek.

"Why are you here so early?" I asked, pulling him in for a hug.

"I couldn't wait to see you."

"You really woke up early to see me?" I giggled.

"Of course. Anything for you," he responded. I slipped my hand into his, intertwining our fingers and resting my head on his shoulder. He turned and kissed my forehead.

"I missed you keeping me company last night," he said after a few moments of silence.

"You realize I can't be with you every second of the day, right?" I laughed, squeezing his hand.

"Why not?" he pouted. "Maybe you can move in with me. My parents love you, it wouldn't even be a problem," he proposed. I rolled my eyes.

"As much as I like you, I like my own bed even more. Besides, I see you literally every day," I explained.

"That's not enough," he sighed.

"We'd probably get sick of each other," I added after some thought.

"I could never get sick of you. I want to spend every minute of every hour with you," he grinned. I turned to face him.

"You know, it scares me how much I like you," I smiled, leaning in and kissing him softly. Before anything could get intense, the bus pulled up and we broke apart. Jack grabbed my hand, which had been relocated to the back of his neck, and ran onto the bus, dragging me with him.

"Kids, no kissing on my bus. Is that clear?" The bus driver said to us once we were seated, making eye contact with us through the rear view mirror. I blushed, and Jack nodded vigorously. We made ourselves comfortable, with Jack propped up against the window and me laying on his lap. He began playing with my hair lazily, and drawing circles across my face with his finger tips. The bus made a few more stops, and more kids filed on. Ellie came on two stops later, and grinned when she saw us. I simply had texted her "it worked" before going to bed last night, but I think she understood what she meant. Finn got on a stop later, and he sat down next to Ellie, surveying me and Jack with a smug expression.

Jack and I talked for a little, not really paying attention to what was going on around us. I glanced over at Ellie and Finn, who were staring at us intently and pretended to have a conversation with each other when I caught them.

"Do you think they'll get back together?" I asked Jack, watching as they continued to sneak looks at us.

"Probably not. Finn said he doesn't really like her like that," he informed me. I frowned.

"Poor Ellie," I sighed, then added, "does Finn like anyone else? Like, I don't know, Millie?" I questioned, trying to come off as casual. I obviously wasn't jealous, but still, it would be nice to know.

"God no. He kinda hates Millie now, he says she's annoying," Jack laughed, causing me to giggle. I took Jack's hand and intertwined our fingers.

"You're so pretty, you know that? Like, I could spend all day just looking at you," he said suddenly.

"Stop, you're making me blush," I giggled.

"Hey, lovebirds, time to go to school," Finn said, interrupting our conversation and hitting the back of Jack's head. We hadn't even noticed that we had arrived, half the bus was empty, and most people were already making their way to the building.

We entered the school holding hands, which was different than our usual linked arms routine. I didn't think anyone would even realize we were being different around each other if it wasn't for Jack getting in trouble three times for being "distracted in class." In English, Mrs. Bellini had yelled, "Mr. Grazer, stop staring at Madison!" twice, but he hadn't stopped. Not that I minded. The classes without him were long and dull, and I couldn't wait to see him again at lunch.

I was sitting impatiently across the table from Finn and Ellie, tapping my foot against Finn's leg to let out my nervous energy.

"Can you please stop fucking kicking me?" he snapped.

"Sorry, just excited to see Jack," I shrugged. Finn and Ellie exchanged a glance.

"I missed you," a voice to my left said, and Jack slid into the seat next to me, kissing my cheek. I turned my head so we could actually kiss, then broke apart a few seconds later.

"How were your classes without me?" I asked as Jack wrapped his arm around my waist.

"Bad. I missed you too much," he mumbled through a mouthful of mac and cheese, which was the school lunch of the day. He kissed my cheek again, and I giggled.

"Oh! I almost forgot, I brought you something," I said suddenly, reaching into my backpack and pulling out a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. "So we don't have to share mine anymore. You get your own," I explained, pulling the turkey sandwich I was already eating closer to me.

"But I liked eating your food," he frowned. "Not that I don't like this. God, don't think that. I'm sorry, thank you. This is incredible. I don't deserve you," he added quickly, grabbing the sandwich eagerly.

"It's ok, you can still have some of mine too," I sighed, handing him half of my turkey sandwich.

"You're the best," he grinned, tilting his head and kissing me.

"Jesus fucking Christ, do you guys ever stop making out," Ellie groaned, and we broke apart giggling. I rested my head on his shoulder, and he squeezed my side before taking a bite of my lunch.

"Seriously guys, your pda is off the charts," Finn laughed.

"Are you guys gonna be one of those couples that can't keep their hands off each other?" Ellie huffed. I shrugged, then realized something.

"We aren't even dating. Not officially, anyways. Jack hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend or anything," I pointed out, looking up at Jack.

"Oh, I must have forgotten," he said. "Madison, wanna be my girlfriend?" He asked, his mouth full of my sandwich.

"We haven't even gone on a date yet. You're gonna have to work a little harder than that," I joked.

"Fair enough. I'll pick you up at 6 on Friday. Dress nice," he instructed. I rolled my eyes, because he didn't even ask if I was free, but it's not like I would say no. I answered by kissing him again.

"Ok, it's getting annoying now," Ellie commented.

"Yeah, how do you think we feel, our exes are kissing in front of us," Finn laughed again.

"Sorry, you're right," I admitted.

"He's just jealous," Jack teased, narrowing his eyes at Finn.

"Been there, done that," Finn responded, earning a gasp from me and a middle finger from Jack.

The rest of lunch was uneventful, and Jack and I tried to contain ourselves. In college prep, Jack forgot to hand in an assignment, meaning he had to stay in class late while I walk to the bus with Finn.

"You don't mean what you said at lunch, do you? Jack and I don't make you uncomfortable?" I asked tentatively.

"No, I was just messing with you. Obviously no one is gonna like seeing their ex with someone else, but you had to go through that with me, so it's only fair I have to go through that with you. I'll always have a crush on you, but I had my chance and I fucked up. And I see the way you and Jack look at each other. You're literally meant to be together," he reassured me.

"Thank you?" I said, a little confused, but reassured nonetheless.

"Jack is so happy around you. You guys deserve this," Finn said, and he sounded sincere.

"Thanks. And for the record, you were a great boyfriend. Beside the, you know, cheating thing," I smiled.

"Come here," Finn said, wrapping his arms around me and hugging me. We hugged for a few moments, just holding each other.

"You're great, Madison, I hope you know that. Jack is lucky to have you."
