《new | jack grazer》five

Running a final brush stroke through my hair, I grabbed my keys and ran out to my car. It was 7:30, and I had to get to the movies by 8. Plus, I had to pick up Jack on the way. I was wearing a flowy brandy melville dress and light makeup, since Finn was coming. If it was just me and Jack, I would probably opt for the comfort of sweats. I said a quick goodbye to my parents before hopping in the car and driving to Jack's. I liked driving, but I didn't drive to school because there was nowhere for me to park. I would have much preferred the comfort of my own fairly new mini cooper than the environment of the bus, but it is what it is. Pulling up to Jack's house, I found him already waiting outside for me. He entered my car quickly, and with that we proceeded to the theatre.
"I'm sorry about Ellie. You know I can't say no to her, especially not after our fight," he told me sympathetically.
"I know. It's fine anyways, I have Finn," I reassured him. He perked up at this.
"It's like a double date!" he said excitedly. "I'm pretty sure Finn feels the same way you do, by the way," Jack added. My heart jumped and I nearly ran someone over. I tried my best to keep the excitement out of my voice and replied,
"No, definitely not. And I don't feel any 'way' about Finn. We're just friends," I said nonchalantly. And that's what I was trying to convince myself. That we were just friends. But what if Jack was right. Did Finn feel the connection between us that I felt? Did he actually like me or was that just his personality.

"Earth to Madison! Hello? We just passed the theatre. Where are you going?" Jack said, jolting me from my thoughts. He was right, I had driven past the theatre.
"I was looking for parking," I lied, and quickly pulled into a nearby parking spot. Jack sensed my lie but didn't push the matter further, and we headed to the theatre together. Finn was already waiting outside, leaning against the streetlamp next to the movie theater. He was wearing a deep blue sweater and black jeans, which made him look even taller than usual. To my surprise, he was smoking a cigarette.
"I didn't know Finn smoked," I whispered to Jack, alarmed.
"He always has. He had to sneak like 5 packs to camp over the summer. Poor dude's been trying to quit for years, but nothing's helped. Not vaping, not juuling, nothing..." Jack responded, trailing off when we got close enough for Finn to hear us. He nodded his head in greeting.
"Hey Finn," I said warmly. He extinguished his cigarette and walked up to us.
"Hey cutie," he said. Did. Finn. Just. Call. Me. Cute. "Hi Madison," he added with a chuckle. That son of a bitch was talking about Jack. I laughed.
"Hey baby boy," Jack respond and hugged Finn. Their friendship made me so happy.
"Is Ellie here yet?" Jack asked. There was a slightly anxious tone in his voice. Jack seemed to be a little scared of Ellie, which I found hilarious, but I also felt bad for him. Jack did everything and anything Ellie asked him to. That little bitch had him wrapped around his finger, and she knew it. Jack treated her so well, it almost made me jealous. Almost. But I had Finn so it didn't matter.

"She's inside buying tickets. I was out here finishing my... um, cigarette," he said ashamedly. I instantly felt bad for him. From what Jack had told me and the way Finn described it, he didn't like the fact that he was addicted.
"Let's go inside," I interjected quickly to break up the tension. Upon entering, we found Ellie waiting for us inside holding 4 tickets, a box of popcorn, and a box of skittles. She kissed Jack on the cheek, hugged Finn, and ignored me. Not surprising.
20 minutes later, we were sitting in the dark theatre waiting for the movie to start. I was sitting on the end by the isle next to Finn, who was next to Jack, who was next to Ellie, who was on the end. I was eating twizzlers and sharing a medium popcorn with Finn. Jack and Ellie were sharing a small popcorn with no butter because Ellie was "on a diet" and Jack had to put up with it, but he made up for it by buying 3 twix and sour patch kids for himself. The movie dragged on for a long time. Jack found it very interesting because he was a huge marvel fan. Ellie kept getting scared of Thanos and trying to hide in Jack's arms, but he wasn't having it. He was too engrossed in the movie. Finn enjoyed it enough, and he found it very funny when Peter Parker died, much to my dismay. The movie ended and we made our way to the lobby.
"I have to pee," Ellie told us.
"Ok." I said. Finn laughed and Ellie shot me a death glare. Jack mouthed, "Knock it off," to me and I rolled my eyes.
"Jack, can you wait for me while I go to the bathroom? I'll drive you home," She asked.
"I wanna go home with Madison. But we can wait for you," he reasoned. Ellie seemed satisfied and praced away to the bathroom. I felt a hand slip around my waist.
"Want to wait outside?" Finn whispered in my ear. I looked up at him and nodded.
"We're gonna wait outside," I told Jack, trying to indicate that only Finn and I were going.
"Alright. Be safe, you two," Jack said with a wink and finger guns. I laughed and Finn and I walked outside.
"It's chilly," I said. My breath was visible in the air and the wind was blowing softly. I looked up at Finn. He looked beautiful as ever, standing in the moonlight with his hair swirling in the breeze.
"I would offer you my jacket if I had one," he said. He stepped closer to me and started rubbing my arms to warm me up. I rested my head on his shoulder and listened to his deep breathing. He smelled like mint, soap, and a faint trace of cigarettes, which I didn't mind. The combination was unique and new. I liked it a lot.
"I like you a lot," I blurted out. Fuck. What the fuck did I just do. I stepped back and looked at his face. My mind was racing. What the fuck did I just do. Without saying a word, he pulled me in and kissed me.
