Erin's POV
Later that night we all were laughing and having a amazing time when I got a text from an unknown number it said
'stay away from jack, he is mine and if u don't stay away from him you'll be sorry'
Sophia could tell something was wrong so she got my attention "Erin, come here" she said waving her hand for me to follow her. I told Jack I'd be back and he said okay, I got up and followed Soph to the backyard. "I saw your face, what was that all about??" I sigh and pull out my phone, she reads the messages then blocks the number. "Don't worry about it, it's probably just some one who is jealous" she said then gave me a big bear hug. I just met her and I already love her personality and how comfortable she is being herself. We walk back inside and Jack motions me to come back over to him, I giggle and go sit down by him again he soon wraps his arms around me like a kola. "What did Sophia want?" Jack asked as he kissed my temple and played with my hair, "oh she just wanted to talk about some girl problems" I lie. "Oh okay" he says and lays his head on my shoulder, this is how jack was sitting, he was behind me with his arms wrapped around my waist and he had his head on my shoulder.
-time skip to 3 am-
Jack and I were the only ones up everyone else was sound asleep. Jack started whispering something so I turned around and asked him "you okay?", I sat up and turned to him. "yeah..umm..ugh" Jack ran his hands the his hair and kind of pulled on it. "Jack, stop stressing, you can tell me" I said and grabbed ahold of his hands, they were shaking very strong. Jack looked like he was about cry, "jack look at me" I say sweetly he shook his head and I saw tears fall. "Jack, babe look at me" I say his breath hitches, but he still refused to look at me. I take my thumb and my index finger and put them on his chin, I bring his face up and he closes his eyes still silently crying. "Jack", I said once more, he opened his eyes and looked at me, I took my sweatshirt sleeve and wiped the falling tears off his face. "Tell me, what's wrong" I said, he takes my hand, kisses it, then asks "do you t-trust me?", I nod and he grabs my sweatshirt sleeve and slowly pulls up to reveal my scars and the fresh cuts from a few days ago. "Why Erin, Why?" He said, his voice cracked as he ran his fringed over them. "I'll tell you later" I said looking away from him, "no, tell me now, tell me why you did this to yourself" Jack looked me dead in the eyes. "Guys what's going on?" Finn asked confused as he rubbed his eyes, "nothing" I say and start to get up but Jack grabbed my hand and pulled me back down. I sigh and lean into Jack, "I'm sorry, you can tell me when you're ready" Jack says feeling bad about what he said, "Thanks Jack" I say and start to get up, "I'm going to get some air" I say to Jack and he just nods. I walk out, roll up my jeans and stick my feet in the pool, I shut my eyes and just think about how much Jack has changed my life. I hear the screen door open, I look behind me and see Finn walk out. "Hey E, can we talk?" Finn said walking over to me and putting his feet in the water as well. "Yeah, what's up?" I say, Finn takes a breath and beings to speak, "so I like this girl, her name is Millie, but she is dating this boy named Jacob, I don't know what to do" he sighed and leaned his head on my shoulder. "Well if I were you I would just take it easy and if Millie and Jacob break up, tell her how you feel and just see how she feels" I say trying my best to give him some advice, he smiles and says "thanks Erin, you're the best, and also I have 2 questions", I smile and say "no problem, and what?", he inhales and says "what happened in your past and can we be besties?" He exhales. "Yes I'd love to be besties and it's a long story" I sigh, "well I have time" he shrugs turning so he's facing me. Well here goes nothing, "Fine, I'll tell you but you can't tell jack, not yet at least" I sigh, "I won't tell a soul" Finn says. I spill everything out to Finn and by the time I was done he just had a blank expression on his face. "Finn please say something so I know you don't see me differently" I say picking at the grass. He looked up at me and said "Erin I'm so sorry you had to put up with all of that, I promise you Jack is a good person he will never hurt you" he hugs me then says he's going back inside. I stay out for a bit longer and finally head back inside. Jack looks at me, stands up, and just tightly hugs me as if it'd be the last time he'll see me.

Finns POV-
I feel so bad. I lied to Erin about how I wouldn't tell anyone. Just before I went out to check on Erin Jack asked me to see if she'd open up to me. I told him I'd try, I asked how would I tell him he told me record it. That's what I did. While Erin was still outside I played him the voice memo. He looked heart broken. "I will never hurt her" he said pulling his knees up to his chest. Erin walks in and Jack gets up an hugs her tightly. I let them hug for a bit then I stand up and join them. "Guys we should probably go to bed it's 3:30" I say and lay back down on the floor. They both nod and go lay down on the couch together.
Jacks POV
Erin and I snuggle back up on the couch, Erin falls asleep right away while I stay always for a bit longer. I whisper things that only me and her would be able to hear, things like, 'you're beautiful', and 'I'd never hurt you' and lastly before I fall asleep, I knew she couldn't hear but I still told her, "Erin, I love you" I smile to myself and kiss her head. I wrap my arm around her waist and pull her closer to me, I laid my head on top of hers and slowly went to sleep.

Adventurer Book II - Dawn of an Empire Short story prequel- The Lurking Lair: An Adventuer Series Short Story Summary for the LitRPG savvy reader: Looking for a LitRPG that is more tabletop traditional role playing game and less MMORPG? This is probably your cup of tea. Long term progression with a heavy slice of life element. Strong mix and inclusion of ancient Greek life, values, and myths. Hence, the world can be a bit more harsh and brutish than modern sensibilities. The system is tangible and knowable beyond the MC's insights. The MC is more of an everyman than someone specifically chosen for the experience. Author's Note: This is my debut novel. Up until this point, the only thing I have written of comparable length has been non-fiction and related to history. I am immensely grateful to all the folks who have given me feedback and helped me improve my writing.
