《Son of Artemis Book 4》Chapter 28

Gramps seemed a little annoyed at the council being summoned, "I give you a pass so you can mourn your son but summoning a meeting"
"Grandfather. Please don't blame him. He's only doing as I asked"
Zeus did a double take at my appearance. "Then why are we here Percy"
"Two things. First, I have already shared this news with my mother, but the god Pan has faded. I along with my other questmates witnessed his fading" I said
That seemed to sadden many of the gods, "it was bound to happen" Zeus said sadly, "many of us thought him to already have passed. What's the second grandson"
"This is more worrisome news, and I swear on the Styx what I am about to tell you is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth" I stated, because knowing the gods it is best to safe guard myself with a solemn oath.
Thunder rumbled sealing my oath, "when Annabeth, Nico, the mortal Rachel, and I were heading to return to camp and before reuniting with Thalia, Grover, and Tyson we came upon an exit of the Labyrinth that led to Mount Othrys" I started, many of the gods looked shocked and scared.
"We went and checked it out. Upon coming to the entrance we could see that the Palace was rebuilt" I said
"That's bad" Hera mumbled
"Thanks for informing us grandson" Zeus said
"That is not all grandfather" I stated, "I borrowed Annabeth's hat of invisibility to sneak in. I found the Titan Lord's sarcophagus and opened, believing there may not be a better opportunity to finish him. Upon opening it, and I'm sorry Lord Hermès" I spoke, but Hermès looked confused as did the others, "upon opening the sarcophagus I saw Luke lying down in it" the gods gasped, "missing a piece of his body where his heart should be"

"Your lying" Hermès said weakly
"I'm sorry lord Hermès, but I swear on the Styx I speak the truth" thunder rumbled, which only seemed to cause Hermès to be upset as if triply confirming his son's fall.
"That is not all, if it was I would have only told Dionysius and trusted it would get here" I said, "I attempted to kill him but my sword was deflected with each strike in various fatal locations"
"Impossible" Poseidon stated
"I must concur" Athena said
"There is one possible explanation" Hestia said from the hearth
"No" Zeus said, "father would never"
"If he's using the son of Hermès as a host, it might be possible" Apollo said, " The body wouldn't be able to keep itself together otherwise"
Athena gasped, "that might work"
"Are you certain that's what happened son" mom asked
"Yes mother. My swords could not penetrate and were deflected. Even when trying to stab the missing piece"
"Did he rise" Demeter asked
I took a deep breath, "I am not sure. I left after a group of telekhines carrying the Scythe and a demigod entered the room" I explained, "I didn't want to get caught. After leaving and rejoining with the others, I asked Nico for help in destroying the palace. I summoned an earthquake, and he used his powers. While the earthquake was enough to destabilize the palace. Nico summoned three pillars which shot through the palace. The collective effort caused it to collapse"
"Impossible" Zeus whispered
"You used powers from me" Poseidon questioned
"Not that I had a choice"
"See father he's too powerful"
A mighty smack was heard throughout the throne room, causing many to flinch at the sound of a bone breaking and a jaw becoming dislocated.
"I SAID I WILL KILL YOU IF YOU SPOKE THAT WAY ABOUT MY SON AGAIN" mom said pulling out her knives
Hestia though moved over and restrained mom, trying to calm her.

"This should be of concern" Hera said
"As I have explained to my grandfather before Lady Hera, my loyalties lie with him as my grandfather, with Lady Hestia as she's my Patron, with my mother, who raised me, with my sisters who helped her raise me, with my mom's siblings as my uncles and aunts. My loyalty lies with my family milady, and while I may dislike some in this room, you are all still my closest family"
Hestia smiled, despite struggling to keep mom from killing Athena.
The other gods however were pondering that. Some like uncle Apollo and Hephaestus, were completely fine. Others like Athena and Ares, looked like they wanted me dead. Then there was a few like Hermès, Aphrodite and Dionysius, who were all either indifferent or not paying attention.
Zeus studied the room, before coming to a decision, "we voted on this matter during the solstice. The matter is closed"
"That was before" Hera argued
"The matter is closed" Zeus stated, "council dismissed"
Most teleported away leaving only Zeus, Poseidon, Hermès, Hestia, Mom, and myself left. Athena and Hera were first to leave.
"My son" Poseidon started
"Don't call me that"
"You used"
"Out of necessity to give us time"
"You still"
"Brother I suggest you leave" Hestia stated calmly, but even I knew that that was an order not an ask. Poseidon put his head down and left dissolving to mist.
"Grandson" Zeus started, "while I don't like you working with my brothers' children. I won't deny you all working together brought back memories of what my brothers and I could do. But it does worry me"
"It's how the first war was won. It's how this one will be as well. The power of one of you alone is weak but the power of the three of you combined, I feel only Chaos would stand a chance against"
Zeus sighed, "i suppose it was that way. Be careful grandson" he finished before teleporting out
"I'm proud of you. But I'm going to kill Athena" mother stated, before she too left
"I'll stop her" Hestia said, "I couldn't be more proud of you my champion. Though you may not see it. My brothers are closer now than ever since the giant war" she left in a column of flames.
"Lord Hermès the meeting is over" I stated simply
He looked around and started to cry, "tell me it's not true"
"I'm sorry uncle Hermes" I said giving him a hug as he shrunk down to mortal size
"Two of my sons" He cried
"Do not despair uncle. While Pan has faded his spirit lives on. It's up to the nature spirits and us to protect what remains of his legacy"
"And Luke" Hermès stated
"He's lost. Very lost. And has been for a while. Maybe we could have helped before, but now he must find his way back himself" I tried consoling my uncle
Hermès cried for a few more minutes, "I should have been a better father"
"It's not like you have any good role models to have learned from" I replied, which got a slight chuckle out of my uncle.
"That means you don't either"
"While that may be true. I had an awesome mother, patron, and sisters to have learned from"
"What of my mother"
"The first time she left you unsupervised you went and stole my uncle's sacred cows"
"So"
"You can't be left unsupervised, and can I have my wallet back"
Hermès disappointedly handed me my wallet back, "dam you're good" Hermès said, "I have to get back to work though"
"Take some time off. You're allowed to mourn uncle"
"You seriously don't want to know how quickly I get backed up when I take time off"
"Well if you are heading back to work, can you drop me off at camp" I asked, "The old sot ditched me"
Hermès agreed, and soon I was back at camp, and just in time for dinner.
