《Son of Artemis Book 4》Chapter 21

Oh no...it's all making sense now. The ghost at the ranch that wouldn't listen to Nico. It's one of the judges and honestly the worst choice for a judge you could make. It was Minos. The old king of Crete.
"What is this treachery" Daedalus asked, "you all promised"
"You are of no longer useful to us. And Minos here has an invaluable offer to make to us" The empousai said
"The small child with them" Minos pointed at Nico, "he's the son of Hades"
That really seemed to intrigue the empousai, "alright you've delivered on your deal" she said and made some gesture to the Lastrygonians with her. They started to move to Nico but Annabeth and I stood in the way to fight them off.
"Percy what about the wings" Rachel whispered
I thought quickly, though yes Annabeth and I most likely will come out of this winning, there's too much to worry about and if the sound is anything to go by there's more monsters coming.
"That should work. Annabeth and I will buy you time" I said, as all hades started breaking loose.
The empousai started a fire and that was spreading. Annabeth and I were fighting the lastrygonians.
"Spirits of the dead" Minos called out "to me"
However this really pissed off Nico, "NO"
"You do not control me boy" Minos stated, "I shall return to life as soon as I kill this pesky inventor"
Spirits at this point we're starting to rise out of the ground.
"I AM THE SON OF HADES" Nico shouted at the rising spirits, "BE GONE AND RETURN FROM WHENCE YOU CAME"
About half the spirits returned though others remained. However Minos for a very short moment had a look of fear on his face.
Minos, how ever scared he was began to laugh, "you have no power over me, son of hades. I am the lord of spirits. I am the ghost king"
Nico, looked nervous, but whatever he talked about with his sister must have helped him, "No" he stated coldly, "I am the son of Hades, god of the underworld and the dead. I am the prince of the dead, the prince of the underworld. I am the rightful king of ghost, not some phony son of Zeus" Nico finished and stabbed his sword in the ground.

I think it was smart. He was summoning his powers through his weapon. That always makes it more controllable, and if the weapon is designed for it, more powerful.
The ground started to crack and form a hole around Minos and the spirits who stayed with him. Minos looked at Nico with fear.
"For treason against my father, Minos. I sentence you and your co-conspirators to face every wrongful punishment you have given in the fields of punishment" Nico spoke and it oddly reminded me of Hades, like the similarities are to the point it's almost scary.
"Never" Minos yelled as his soul was being ripped downward, "I won't—" was all he got to say before the hole he was drag down in was covered back up.
Annabeth, killed the lastrygonian she was engaged with, and then dragged Nico to Rachel and helped put wings on him.
The kid used a lot of power. Not only did he claim titles, but he also sentenced multiple spirits to face numerous punishments. The good thing he was still awake. Just not in shape to fight.
I then killed off my lastrygonian and took notice of Daedalus and the hellhound fighting the empousai in the door way...and numerous other monsters arriving trying to get past the fight.
"We need to go now" I said hurriedly and threw on a pair of wings myself.
Annabeth struck one of the windows and started ushering us out of burning workshop's.
I took one last look back at Daedalus. He was still going on well, but his time was short. Who knows maybe he'll escape death one more time today. Maybe he'll finally be caught.
I feel backwards out the window at the moment.
The rush of air coming around me felt great, I noticed we were at the garden of the gods. We were hunting near here a few times in my youth, but I never got to explore the sight.
So I flew around taking it all in. Though it didn't look like a garden all the much. I scared a few mountain climbers who were trying to climb one of the rock spires before I made a final approach to land at the visitor center.

Although these wings looked liked they would work well. I did not want to take any risk. Especially since we were already a mile closer to the sun than sea level.
I took the wings off and noticed a few feather missing. Turns out I made a good choice. However, I put the wings in the garbage so hopefully no mortal will use them and get hurt.
It didn't take the others long to join me though. And they came in with more feathers missing.
"Why didn't you use your air powers" Annabeth asked me
"Ummm. I wanted to try the wings out" I said looking down. I knew she shook her head. I'll be honest though. The wings were a lot more fun than my air powers.
"We need to get back. Camp needs to know he has the string" Annabeth stated worriedly
"I agree. The fastest way is the labyrinth" I stated
"What about flying" Rachel asked, I think she was a little freaked out about what all happened
"I'm the son of hades. Zeus will blast me out of the sky. Especially if he hears what I did to Minos" Nico said
Rachel sighed, "ok. I can try to lead you all back" she said
"I'll go get us some supplies" Annabeth said
"Me too" added Nico
"Don't worry Rachel" I said, "let's just see if we can get a ride so we can look for an entrance" she nodded glumly, but headed over to a car with some guy standing by it.
The guys seemed shocked by her presence here, however, and made a phone call before heading off to some other people and explaining the situation to them. I think.
"How"
"My dad is rich. Like super rich"
"Oh" I stated, I'm not sure about Rachel. But I'm pretty sure I dislike her father now.
"So what's your last name" I asked
"Dare. My last name is Dare" she said looking down, almost ashamed.
I understood why. She knows I'm the son of Artemis and am connected to the wilderness and wild, and Dare enterprises, which I'm guessing is her father's company, is one of the worst polluters in the world, and they have destroyed many acres forested area.
"It's the decision of your father not you, Rachel"
"But all the nature spirits he could have killed and not even know" Rachel stated, I'm guessing she some had made friends with some of the nature spirits.
"It's fine" I said, "you can always change the company once it goes into your hands"
"It won't" she said, "he said it will go to whom ever he has me marry and my younger brothers" she said looking down.
Hmm. Welp the hunt just got a new target. And it's a mortal male. Though I'm not going to tell Rachel that. Even if he's a terrible parent and is sexist, it's hard for a child to go against their parent.
Except in my case when the bastard tried to have me killed, and killed my mother, but you all already know about that.
Annabeth and Nico returned. Annabeth carrying some drinks and Nico with a bunch of food and candy. I swear it looks like he was give 100 bucks and told to get whatever he wanted. As he returned with mostly candy.
"You two find us a ride" Annabeth asked
It was at this moment the driver from earlier came back to us, "where to Ms. Dare" he asked

Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
