《Son of Artemis Book 4》Chapter 13

Can any of you please explain what is going on in Percy's and Thalia's heads. Like seriously, I understand that they are protective of me but do they really have to go off and get into fights that they can avoid because of it.
Wait...
Don't answer that.
Anyway after Percy and Thalia finished the fight they started, with my minimal help of a plan and a singular arrow, Eurytrion invited us to stay for dinner. Well with Percy's conditions about a couple of the animals being followed.
I got to admit he's a better cook than I thought he would be. And whatever it was he made didn't come from this ranch so Percy was quelled...somewhat. He was still mad about what Geryon did with the Hippalektryons, which I don't blame him for. Especially when his mom even thought them to be extinct.
"So the labyrinth" Eurytrion started, "what are four demigods, a cyclops, and a satyr all doing down there. It's a dangerous place you know"
I shared a look with my questmates, and given the earlier...dispute I figured we should tell him, "we are looking for Daedalus" I answered, "he knows the labyrinth better than anyone and we need to either secure the way to navigate it or move one of the entrances of the labyrinth"
Eurytrion thought for a moment, "well if you're looking for Daedalus I know a guy who can help you. A good friend. He gave me this and told me it would lead me to him when activated" he said handing me a discus with an eta symbol.
I nearly dropped it instantly, remembering the last time I saw this symbol. Well at least I don't have a certain brainless sea child with me this time.
"What is it" Percy and Thalia asked

"It's an automaton. With a singular purpose. Put it down activate it by touching the symbol and boom it will lead you to him"
"Who is this him" Nico asked, "does he" percy and Thalia put their hands over Nico's mouth.
"Lil cuz. I know you like mythomagic, but you really got to stop associating the game with the actual mythology before it gets you killed"
"But Dionysius likes talking to me about it" came Nico's muffled reply
"Only because he's your favorite god card. He hates the game itself for making him the weakest god card" Percy whispered in response
"You two done yet" Eurytrion asked, to which Percy and Thalia nodded, "good so that he you asked about is Hephaestus. He was always fascinated by Daedalus, I can't tell you why though. He may be able to help find him or tell you where he is"
"Hey guys" Nico said, "I sense something strange coming from over there" he finished pointing to the tree line
"That's weird I don't sense anything" Percy replied then realization dawned on him, "it's ghost"
"Cool but shouldn't they you know. Be in the underworld" Nico asked
"Yes they should be. And I've never noticed them here before" Eurytion said, as he started ushering us inside.
Soon enough though the outside began looking like the fields of asphodel. "This is a problem" Percy responded
"Oh you don't say" Thalia said back
"Now one or two that would be fine. But to have this many ghost wandering free. Especially when they aren't frequently here. That's" Percy replied
"That means dad could be in trouble" Nico asked
"There's other options as well" Percy said, "but he's definitely not paying attention to where all these souls are leaving from"
"Do you think I can send them back" Nico asked

"It's worth a try" I said
So that's what Nico did, he went outside, among his father's subjects and started sending them back to the underworld. After about an hour he had most of them sent back, but their was one being problematic.
"YOU CANT TELL ME WHAT TO DO. I AM THE GHOST KING" replied the ghost
Nico looked confused, "well are you a son of hades"
"A SON OF HADES" The ghost replied, sounding heavily offended, " NO I AM THE SON OF ZEUS, JUDGE OF THE UNDEAD, THE KING OF GHOST, I AM MINOS" He yelled at Nico.
Well Minos should be happy Bianca isn't here because she would send him to Tartarus for yelling at her brother like that.
"Well how can you be the king of ghost if you aren't a son of hades. It's not within any other gods domains, well besides maybe one Hades's immortal children" Nico responded confused
"I was made the head judge. Of course I am king of ghost" Minos replied though to a trained listener and watcher of conversation, he had a shred of doubt.
"Oh ok then but you should really head back to your job" Nico said before walking off and reentering the house
"I thought the prophecy said" nico started
"It did. You'll have to claim the title from him" Percy answered
"But how. I couldn't send him back, and now I feel like he's going to follow us" Nico replied
"If that's the case Eurytion you wouldn't mind if we all stay the night. Being a ghost he shouldn't be able to follow us during the day" I asked
Eurytion looked out his windows observing the few remain ghost out there, "yeah you all can stay. I don't like the vibes myself"
We left early in the morning light with Eurytion sending us off with a couple boxes of cereal. I was hesitant to use the discus that Eurytion gave us though. However thalia had no problems doing so and took it, placed it on the ground, before touching the eta symbol, activating it.
"ahhhhh" I screamed and jumped into Percy's arms as it turned...turned into the most wretched creature on this planet...a spider.
"Shhh shhh" Percy said gently patting my hair, "we're only going to follow the weird mechanical spider until we find Hephaestus" he finished as he started following the spider while carrying me.
He carried me for a what felt like hours before I got out of his arms and started walking for myself, "better" he asked
"Stupid mechanical spiders" I grumbled, "stupid normal spiders too"
Percy just rubbed my back as I walked alongside him keeping up with the others.
The mechanic demon from Tartarus lead us into this open area where there was a Sphinx waiting, but the mechanical spider kept moving but was stoped at a blocked passage way.
"Welcome weary travelers" The Sphinx stated, "for you're our next contestants on Answer That Riddle"

UPDATES TUES/THURS after chapter 5 Cover art by Tumblr User: @pigeon-princess This book features characters that are related to in many ways to my other novel "Grimoire". While both stories are their own stand alone series, Sun God's Corruption will add a good amount of depth to Grimoire, and Grimoire shows the unfoldings of the world that will eventually come from the events in Sun God's Corruption. I reccomend reading them both interchangably.

Uneasy Dreams
A collection of short stories, probably macabre in nature, and hopefully cathartic to read. There is no connecting thread tying them together, so feel free to skip around and read whatever sounds interesting. Also, each one is named after the song I happened to be listening to when I came up with them.
