《Son of Artemis Book 4》Chapter 5

So a day has passed since that fiasco with Peter brining a mortal into camp. Now, however, the new trainer guy, Five, is sending everyone on an unfair hunt to find golden laurels off of some random monster that it's attached to in the woods. And had everyone in pairs though I successfully argued that do to mine, as well as Annabeth's and Thalia's, practice in the art of hunting this pass spring it would be unfair for us to participate as we are well above the average campers' skill. So us three went off together to just explore the woods anyway because we got bored waiting.
That turned out to be a horrible decision, because while we were exploring we ended up at Zeus's fist and somehow...don't ask me...we ended up in the labyrinth.
We were in some long corridor and both Thalia and I wanted to explore but Annabeth grabbed us both by the shirt collar, "No we need to find the exit" she stated to us like we were children, which at times we did act like, " it should be somewhere near"
So that's what we did. We ended up looking at the walls for I wanna say a couple of minutes but being depraved of the sun and moon I couldn't exactly tell.
I was about ready to give up looking for our exit and go explore for a different exit, when Annabeth said, fairly loudly, "I FOUND IT"
She then hit some portion of the wall which I wasn't quick enough to see but it brought out a ladder and opened a hatch to the world above where it was the dead of night.
"That's weird. I could swear we were only down there for a few minutes tops" I said, which Thalia and Annabeth agreed too.

Once we made it to the top I could clearly hear that are names were being screamed by the campers looking for us.
Of course the one who wouldn't take it best found us first. "WHERE WERE YOU THREE" she shouted at us, and then noticed the hole we climbed out of before paling and backing away from it.
The good news, Clarisse yelling brought everyone towards us. The bad news, the hole disappeared, and Clarisse is scared of the labyrinth.
Chiron came trotting up with Perseus on his back, much to the centaur's annoyance, "Well where were you three" Perseus asked.
"The Labyrinth" I answered
"But we were only there for a few minutes" Thalia stated
"And it looks like hours have passed" Annabeth added
"Hey" Travis said
"Stop stealing" Connor added
"our thing" they finished together
Thalia and I did the mature thing sticking out tongues out at them while Annabeth rolled her eyes.
"An entrance to the labyrinth in camp" Chiron stated
"Yup one that not even the gods knew about, or at least my mom" I said
"Why would"
"She would tell me to stay away from it" I said
Of course the subject matter made continued debate of the severity of the situation considering we are mobilizing our forces, and war is on its way.
Chiron and Perseus, however, got the campers to go back to their cabins and the cabin councilors to the big house for a meeting. The mortal Rachel however, I don't know where she went, maybe she went home since I haven't seen her among the search party.
"We can't let news of this breaking out. If Luke finds out" Lee started
"He already knows and is looking for away to navigate it" Clarisse stated
"How do you know" Lee said in an accusatory tone

"I found Chris" She stated, "He was down there"
"so a missing camper was found" Lee stated, "Doesn't prove your innocence"
Clarisse stood up like she was going to pummel him
"Clarisse was looking into the labyrinth during the winter under my orders" Chiron stated, "she did find Chris, and we are certain that he is looking for a way into camp through the labyrinth"
"That would make sense" Annabeth said, drawing a gasp from many of the other councilors, "I mean militarily. An entrance into camp will provide him with a bypass to our primary security being Peleus and Thalia's tree"
The other councilors minus Clarisse, seemed to understand the importance and the level of threat that the entrance imposes now.
"How would he navigate the labyrinth then" Selena asked
"Ariadne's string" Clarisse and Annabeth answered at the same time
"it's the only way how to navigate the labyrinth" Annabeth said, but I was think on why the string was named that, and other myths of the labyrinth.
However, Annabeth's statement, seemed to send the campers into a debate about getting the string versus setting up an ambush at the labyrinth entrance. Though Clarisse and myself remained silent on the matter, Clarisse for reasons I don't know and myself because of my thoughts thinking of an alternative.
I have no clue how long they were arguing, but I remembered something, Ariadne is the lady of Labyrinths, and she knew how to navigate the labyrinth before she left Crete and before she got the string. "We could ask Ariadne how to navigate the labyrinth" I suggested
That just caused the other cabin councilors to laugh, even Thalia and Annabeth, "Why should we do that? She's only Dionysius wife" Lee stated, too which thunder rumbled
"In the myths she could navigate the labyrinth, and there's older mentions of her being the lady of labyrinths. Not to mention she is the goddess of labyrinths and paths" I stated
"yeah like she would help us. Do you not see how Dionysius treats us" Lee stated, which go the nods of others
"Have you consider that that is because you do not treat him as a god? Have you considered he doesn't want to be here doing meaningless paperwork that you all don't fill out" I questioned them but they just shrugged it off, except for Annabeth and Thalia, whom I shared the secret with, and Clarisse, whom I haven't.
Clarisse was seemingly deep in thought on the matter, "Percy is right" She said, making everyone look at her, "if any of you are going into that wretched place it would be necessary to consult her first"
"What? Are you not going" the Stolls taunted, "is little ol' Clarisse scared"
"YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IT'S LIKE DOWN THERE" She yelled before storming off and out of the big house
