《The Son Of Artemis book 3》Chapter 11

This time I was dreaming a different dream, it was of my mother and Annabeth still being under the weight of they sky when all the sudden a silver glow surrounded mom's shoulders. She seemed to know what it was despite not seeing it. "Annabeth, sweetie. Stay strong. We will make it through this" Mom said in a small voice to her.
Annabeth, however seemingly didn't notice, and likely barely heard her. "I know you may be hungry and thirsty, but stay strong they will be here soon. Percy and Thalia will be here soon" mom whispered, and Annabeth moved just barely gripping onto mom tighter
"Please Lady Artemis, I don't want to leave you"
"I know dear. Just hold tight it will only be a couple of days at the most" Mom said, "Take the pelt off my shoulders, and wrap it around yourself. Hold it close and use it for shelter and protection"
Annabeth did as mom said, and seemed to realize that she just grabbed hold of the Nemean Lion pelt, probably wondering how it got there. "Hush your mind child. Do as I told you. It'll keep you safe till they arrive" Mom said, and Annabeth did as mom said, and then proceeded to get as close to her as possible, having her entire body covered by the large pelt.
Shortly after I started hearing small snoring come from Annabeth. "I know you are here son. Please hurry. I'm not to sure how much longer Annabeth will be able to last" she said and I began waking back up to an annoying shake.
I was woken by Zoë shaking me through the open door of the Ferrari I slept in. "We must get going little brother, dawn is approaching" she said, and I just noticed the train was gone.
I stepped out of the car, and then the car disappeared too. YOU COULD HAVE LEFT US A CAR AT LEAST APOLLO.
"Let's get going west" Zoë stated walking towards the town of Cloudcroft, New Mexico. "How do you know that's west" Grover asked, quite dumbly I might Iadd.
"The sun rises in the east, and it's at our backs heading this way, thus this way is west" Zoë explained quite annoyed at the satyr.
We walked into town, and split up to get supplies at various different stores. I was sent to the grocery store and practically robbed the place, and asked about transportation west, but apparently this town doesn't have any transportation.
I met up outside with the group and split my loot from the store, where we all ate the snacks I got for breakfast. I also told the news about the unfortunate transportation situation.
The good news we decide to start walking, hoping to hitchhike, or hijack a ride. The Bad news that would be slow and unguaranteed. The even worse news, as we were exiting town a warm breeze blew through, unusually warm for the winter months, and it seemingly brought what little bit of wildlife here to, well life. Except for Grover he kinda passed out.

However, that breeze wasn't the only thing to come. It was also the spartoi, to which Zoë and I shared a quick look, we knew now that they definitely held at least one scent from the group. The only question was whose scent.
They ended up pretty much surrounding us, with no escape. "What are these things" Thalia asked.
"Spartoi" I answered
"How do we kill them" She asked
"That's the thing" Zoë said, "we can't"
"what but you two are hunters"
"yes and these are not wild beast" Zoë and I stated
Thalia seemingly got her head wrapped around that, "Then what do we do"
"Pray" is all Zoë responded with
I, however, pulled out my shield, and only got the spartoi to step back a few feet, until they realized they were already dead, or it had no effect, "Damn I thought that would work" I stated, it looked like the others were hoping it would have worked too.
"The wild" Grover mumble, to go along with sudden movement of trees and cracking of branches.
The Spartoi took notice of this as well, and started backing away from the tree line. Which was a good move because a few seconds later a wild boar, easily over 25 feet tall, burst through the tree line and would have trampled them.
Thalia readied her spear. "Don't kill it" Grover said quickly, "it's a blessing from the wild"
"It's the Erymanthian Boar" zoë said, " I'm not sure if we can kill it"
The boar than let out a squeal and began charging with it's head to one side. We dived out of the way but the spartoi weren't as lucky, and were practically pulverized by the Boar swinging it's head as it passed.
I got up quickly, knowing there was only one thing we could do. "RUN" I shouted as my others got up. Zoë and Grover wound up going separate directions, where as Thalia and myself ended up running into the woods.

If you're wondering apparently the Erymanthian Boar knows how to do at least simple math, knowing two demigods is better than a nymph or a satyr. How do I know this. Well the Boar was charging uphill at Thalia and myself, ploughing through trees trying to get to us.
Eventually we came to a leveled off 7 foot wide pathway that was mostly clear of snow. I could see the rails, and decided to take a risk. I grabbed Thalia's hand and started dragging her one way down the track, only for her to start running as well.
The boar rammed it's head into the side of the mountain to stop and turned to continue running at us, if the slight rumble of the ground was anything to go by.
We ran and came up on a tunnel, which we began running as fast as we could through as we could tell the boar was starting to catch up to us. The bad news, the end of the tunnel ran straight into a bridge and Thalia was petrified, at the 60 something foot gap from the top of the bridge to the bottom of the gorge.

"NO" Thalia stated, stopping.
"Come on Thalia the bridge will hold our weight" I said, trying to get her to start running across the bridge.
Thalia remained adamant on not wanting to step foot onto the bridge, as the boar was closing in on us. I did the only thing I could think of to get out of this situation with both of us alive. I tackled Thalia out of the tunnel and down onto the slope 5 feet below, using my shield to take the impact of the drop, where we began sliding down the mountain slowly, only to get stopped by a nearby tree.
The boar however wasn't so lucky. It ran out onto the bridge before coming to a stop on the middle where it broke under the boars massive weight. He fell down 60 feet and got lodged in the snow below trying wiggling around trying to get out.
"PERSEUS, THALIA" Zoë yelled trying to find us. "Over here" I said waving from the tree
Zoë and Grover made it to us im under a minute but it took us a couple of minutes to get to the boar on Zoë's and Grover's insistence.
"Why are we going down there" Thalia complained
"The boar is a blessing from the wild. It's our ride west" Grover stated, "I only wish we would have more time so I can look around for a bit, but it's gone"
"what's gone" Thalia and I asked
Grover didn't answer us, instead he hopped up onto the back of the boar shortly follow by Thalia, Zoë and myself. Grover then started playing a tune on his reed pipes and tossed an apple into the air where it began floating in front of the boar. That apple was seemingly the only motivation as the boar started chasing it and started going full speed, trying to get it.
"Zoë, do you know what the blessing of the wild that Grover has been going on about" I asked
Zoë nodded her head in the affirmative, "Right before the boar arrived I felt a presence, a presence I haven't felt since the ancient times. For a brief moment, I thought I sensed Pan" she said. I was shocked a little. Though myself and the hunt didn't believe him to be dead, like many of the campers, we never expected we would see or sense him, until he made his return to Olympus.
We ended up riding the boar through the day and had to hop off of it while it was eating and drinking. Once, he was done drinking and eating the boar belched and ran off back east into the mountains. "he likes the mountains more" Grover stated, as he watched the boar run off.
I, however, wasn't looking to where the boar was going, I was looking at our surroundings. There was a singular sandy two lane road, two buildings, a house and a convenience store or something of the sorts, and...by the gods...is that...I think it is. In the distance there was mounds of scrap, though to the untrained eye with the low light visibility we had it could have been mistaken as mountains or hills. I think we are at an entrance of Hephaestus's junkyard.
We ended up setting up camp not to far off the road, and when we were done scavenging the house for wood to light a fire, a limo pulled up and off to the side of the road. You know what I don't know if I would prefer mortals or gods at the moment.
Of course I got my answer when Ares stepped out of the driver's side door and began to walk over to us. Zoë and I immediately drew our bows, and had them at the ready to attack.
"Ares" I muttered
"You think you can take me on punk"
"I admit it's a small probability at the moment, but I don't hold doubts in my actions" I said
Ares then grunted, "At ease, this is a friendly meeting. Even if I would like to have your head as a trophy. However, someone wants to see you and I never behead my enemies in front of a lady"
"What Lady" Thalia asked
"Ah Thalia Grace daughter of Zeus. I heard you were back, though you are keeping bad company"
"Who's in the car Ares" Thalia stated annoyed
"I doubt she wants to meet all of you. She only wants to talk to him" Ares said jutting his chin towards me, "Why don't you all go eat some tacos" he finished and snapped his fingers.
"I will not leave my brother alone with thee" Zoë stated, and I'm pretty sure both of us knew who was in the car.
"I got this, Zee" I stated, "Go eat "
"You heard the punk. He's got this" Ares stated shooing the others off. I shouldered my bag and Ares opened the door like he was irritated bodybuilding chauffeur. "Get inside punk, and mind your manners. The Lady isn't as forgiving of rudeness as I am"

The Humble Life of a Skill Trainer
For Joshua Still, Skills were the lifeblood of his business. He wanted to understand them, collect many of them, and teach a few of them. Which was a problem because while his profession of a Skill Trainer was perfectly legal, it was frowned upon by most of the kingdom. After all, it wouldn't do for a non-tailor to teach Tailoring. Or, so says the Tailors Guild. The same could be said by the Blacksmiths, the Bakers, the Butchers, the Candlestick Makers, the Mages, and every other Guild with enough money and clout to complain. But still, Skill Trainers provide a valuable service, and so he has managed to start his business and keep it under the table. To a degree. With many a bribe. But his quiet anonymous life of research, practice, and training was about to change. When the Baron demands you pay him a visit, you have little choice.
