"What do you mean, it's your kill that we are sending them" Peter stated.

"we are not sending Medusa's head to any of the gods" Annabeth countered. I think we both know that it could prove useful, but Peter isn't thinking that way.

He picked up the head and placed it in the box, I pulled out my bow and shot his hand as he was trying to attach the Hermes Express form. "don't you dare think of doing that. Her head can provide useful in some situations it will be stupid to give it up" I said, taking the box and head off of the table with my good arm, and storming out the building.

Annabeth and Peter followed me out shortly after. "I don't get it why don't you want to send that up to them" Peter said

"Because one the head's properties don't have any effect on the gods. Two because her head can be extremely useful in the right situation. And three, I already have plans on what to do with the head so that the gods won't be pissed off" I stated

Peter started grumbling about how stupid I was being. I continued leading them into the forest until we came up on a small clearing that I knew of. I told them to get some rest and pulled my tent out because there was something I need from inside it.

I grabbed a piece of paper and began writing a note asking if they could make Medusa's head into a shield for me. I sent the box off without the head but only the note inside. Just so Peter wouldn't have anything to send the head off in. I stowed the head in a safe place and left my tent, before packing it away.

"You have a tent, why can't we stay in there" Peter asked/whined

"Because there's no need for the tent, now lay down before th..." I didn't get to finish as he passed out from the sleeping drugs. "I'll take first watch, you should rest off the sleep burger too" I said and Annabeth just nodded before placing herself in a tree and tying herself up there.

I sat down and searched my bag for food. I came up with a couple of energy bars. I sighed because these probably will be better to use for breakfast. I started sharpening my knives, as I was board and just wanted time to fly by.

Uncle A was starting to do his job in bringing up the sun, when Annabeth woke up to the noise of faint barking. I looked at her and told her I'll check it out if she keeps watch to make sure the sleepy Peter doesn't get killed.

I walked off tracing the barking and found a dog there. I sighed as communication between domesticated animals is harder than wild ones. "Hey, are you lost or missing" I asked the dog

"Neither I ran away"

"Oh ok then, just a quick question though why is your fur pink. I know for a fact that it's not natural" I said

"It isn't. They dyed it because 'it will be better for the show'" he responded, and I could feel the sarcasm from that statement, " but they are offering a huge reward for my return. You aren't going to return me are you"

"Nah, it's your life little dude feel free to live wild, though I would suggest not being bright pink" I said and I'm pretty sure, that I head him laughing though I'm not completely certain, "I'm going to head back to my campsite now, we were just wondering what the barking was" I explained leaving

"Bye oh and my name is Gladiola" He responded. I feel sorry for the dog now, especially with that kind of name. "Do you mind if I travel with you for now"

"go ahead, I'm not going to stop you" I said

I walked back into the clearing with Gladiola behind me. "Percy why is a dog following you" Annabeth exasperated

"Well Annabeth this is Gladiola, he recently ran away and is trying out life in the wild for now" I said

"Percy, I don't know what you and Gladiola spoke about, but the chances of him surviving on his own is extremely low. Does he even know what to eat, nevertheless how to hunt" Annabeth questioned

"No" was Gladiola's reply which I translated

"Well besides that, have you thought of how we are going to reach LA" I asked

"No"

"Does it cost money to get to this LA you speak of" Gladiola asked

"Well if we want to get there and back before the deadline we have Yes" I said and Annabeth looked at me confusingly

"Well I'll let you all turn me in, and you can collect the reward money" He stated

"Cool is there a price" I asked

"Just that when he wakes up I want him to say hello" He answered and I explained his wishes to Annabeth.

We sat there talking for a few minutes and Peter started to wake. Once he was up we all had a short conversation until he noticed the pink dog, "what's that" Peter asked

"This is Gladiola, the dog, there's a big reward for his return and he's agreed to allow us to collect it if you say hello" I stated

"Hello Gladiola" Annabeth said, in an attempt to get Peter to say hello as well

"I'm not going to say hello to a stingy mutt" Peter said, I sighed as Gladiola started growling at him

"Just say hello, I did it and it's not that hard to so" Annabeth said

"Fine, Hello Gladiola" Peter stated rather rudely

Following that I asked Gladiola if he would lead us to his home. He did so, and the owners were somewhat nice, and the only thing I had a problem with was that the dog was dyed pink other than that it looked like a relaxing life, minus the dog shows. They gave us the 400 dollar reward and told us where the nearest train-station was.

We got there and I paid for their tickets with the reward money and paid for my own with the emergency spending card mom gave me. Don't tell anyone else that I have it either, she really isn't suppose to do that, even if I am adopted. Only problem is that the money I had for them only allowed for us to go as far as Denver, with a stop in St. Louis.

We shortly boarded the train and were on our way where I fell asleep, since it was a nice ride and I didn't see any monsters or sense any nearby.

I woke up and Annabeth told me that we were 3 hours away from St. Louis. I sighed and went to the dining cart and got some food for us before returning. We ate and Annabeth went on about how she wanted to visit the arch during our 5 hours of being in the city. She was also spouting facts out about the arch and for a moment I was beginning to think that she worked there, but was reminded that this is practically here first time out of camp since she started.
