《The Son of Artemis Book One》Chapter 9: My Last Year of Freedom
Advertisement
So today begins the last year of freedom I have with my sisters before I have to goto camp half he...sorry half-blood every summer. I don't really want to go mainly because none of my sisters can come with me. If one or two could come with me it would probably be better.
Though it's not all torture, at least to me, you know that blonde girl that I woke up to being in my room before she ran out of the room to tell Chiron I was awake. Well, we became friends, and although yes she is a bit arrogant, I can't really blame her because her fatal flaw is hubris. She'll probably tame it in a few years and a couple of quest. She told me Chiron banned her from quest because it wasn't her time, though she tells me she thinks it is soon.
"MOM" I shouted realizing I have no clue what we are doing or where we are going
"Yes, Percy" mom asked, in a 'why did you shout I'm right next to you' manner.
"What are we hunting or where are we going" I asked
"We decided, since you would be going off to camp for the summers starting next summer we will do a Percy tour" Zoë answered
"What's a Percy tour" I asked because we never did that before and it has my name in it.
"Well the girls wanted for us to go back to where everything important that has happened to you. First stop is the hospital you were born, your mother's(Sally) old apartment building and then we will be setting up camp where you first came into the hunt" Mom said.
Don't tell them this but I was actually slightly interested for this tour now. Though I doubt we will head into the hospital or apartment building.

The hospital didn't look like much different from the others I saw, but I have a feeling that I've never seen the apartment that I would have grown up in if it weren't for my wretched father. Mom showed me the apartment building and in all honesty time did not do it well.
"It use to look like this" Mom said and pulled out a picture of what looked like a beautiful building, it was hard to believe that the two buildings are the same, but if you looked closely you could tell they were the same building.
"It was beautiful, but what happened to it" I asked
"The owners made some bad choices, with the consensus of their renters, the building fell to new management who leased to terrible people and hasn't really taken care of it. In all honesty I doubt that the building is up to code and in compliance with local regulations" mom said. Before we were off to our next adventure.
We set up camp and I was shown where I first pissed Zoë off, apparently I was defective, as a baby, but mom says otherwise. I set up my own tent next to mom's and apparently that was the only change to camp, other than that everything was the same. The next morning mom lead me and my sisters out to a lake, which apparently none of my sisters have been to either.
"This is where your journey began with me" Mom said. When we breached into the clearing.
We walked up to a spot that was nearing the lake waters, "and this is"
"Where she got her fatal blow" I asked and mom nodded, "She was this close to my father's domain and he did nothing to save her" I asked, more like stated because I will only ever know her through the stories mom has told me. Mom nodded again before hugging me. She guided me over to what looked like a burial stele from ancient Greece.

Surprisingly I recognized all of the stories on it. "I may have came back here a few times to do this and, it is also hidden away from mortals so they'll never come here to destroy it" mom said, and I hugged her again, because it showed she at least cared enough about my mother to give her a lot more than what others would have.
The rest of the summer was spent going from campsite to campsite and one of my favorites was the one where I shot Hades, he forgave me of course, though I feel like some of my sister's may have threatened him. I guess I should tell you he also explained me the rules of the underworld and dead, and well I guess I won't be able to speak to my mother ever unless, I become a god, but that hasn't happened since the bastard Heracles lied his way into godhood. Oh I should tell you that Dionysius somehow achieved godhood before him, though after meeting the god I question on why he wanted to become one. He's more lazy than uncle Apollo in the winter.
Sorry ADHD, I got side tracked there for a minute. So, we eventually made our way to the campsite where I got kidnapped by that Luke kid, he was seeming suspicious when I last saw him. Now, I don't know if it was him, but both me and mom suspect he stole the bolt, and Zeus is blaming Poseidon. Now you may be wondering why he isn't blaming me, simple he did, but mom brought me to Olympus pissed because I was being accused. She also brought the hunters. After I swore on the styx that this was my first time being on Olympus and my sister's swore that I was with in the sight of at least one of them for the entire winter solstice council meeting. My named was cleared and Zeus went onto blaming Poseidon.
I guess I should explain why I wasn't busted for being Poseidon's kid, well ever since my Mom adopted me I started looking more and more like her. My eyes were mostly silver now, and they had a very slight hue of sea green to the trained eye, even Apollo has trouble seeing it now. My hair is also just a darker version of my mom's, and well that's kind of how. I look more like her than Poseidon and mom had to deal with accusations of her breaking her oath...again, but we both swore that she didn't give birth to me, nor did she sir me, but she did blood adopt me to be her own child.
That was the only time I've been to Olympus and honestly I don't ever want to return. Mainly because of Hera...mom gave me permission to call her a bitch too, that's how bad my one experience on Olympus was.
Again ADHD, sorry, Mom says I can't control it. So now we were making our way to camp half blood, and I don't want to go. Mom said we will be arriving the night before the other summer campers arrive just so I can get settled in the cabin without the hectic day that the day after would be.

The two men had come with an invitation, and an offer; which sounded more like a deal with a devil, but was seriously on the up-and-up. Explore a brand new world. Sleep away his chair-bound life while testing the latest in long term virtual reality immersion technology. And maybe, just maybe regain the mobility robbed from him by an accident as a child. It really sounded all too good to be true to Riley, thus the feeling of making a deal with a devil. A New Leaf
When people mention fantasy games and RPGs, they usually think of goblins, elves, orcs, dwarves and magic (apart from the percentage that gets an image of an anti-tank weapon in their mind, I will respectfully put those individuals aside for now). But what if you get neither of those (not even the weapon, I know, sad)? And what if you end up playing as something that doesn't look like an animal at all? And what if the said game you were playing weren't actually a game, but real life changed by irresponsible, beyond-mortal beings? Follow the (mis)adventures of "player" 13241, a.k.a. Treant, as he experiences what it's like to be a walking magical fruit maker (among other things). When the world goes to hell and back, plants are the ones that remain, right?
