《The Son of Artemis Book One》Chapter 3: Hestia Takes Me Shopping

Like I said before, I am most certainly not prepared to raise a baby. Especially, one that was as good as Perseus...seemingly was. He woke up five times during the night crying, and I wasn't able to fall back asleep after soothing him, so I was up all night. Percy woke up for a 6th time right when my brother was starting his sun duties, thus I decided to not lure him back to sleep and feed him with one of the bottles Aunt Hestia left me with, for him.
I looked into the mirror and you could tell I didn't sleep at all, I also notice I was approximately 20 years old at first glance. I walked out to the dining tent hoping breakfast would be at least be getting started and my hunters up. My hopes, however, were partially miss guided as only Phoebe and Zoë were up, but they were on cooking duty this month, so it was getting started thankfully.
"Uhhhhhh...milady" Phoebe started, noticing I was sitting at the table
"DON'T" I warned, " I already looked at myself in the mirror and know" I explained, to which she thankfully didn't question.
"Would you like anything to start with" Zoë asked, not looking much better than myself
"Can you just get me a glass of nectar please?" I asked, "and do I need to soundproof the tents, Zoë" I added on as more of an afterthought
She seemed to think for a moment, before making up her mind, "Just yours for now would be appreciated, he kept me awake, but the others as far as I know slept through it" She said
"Slept through what Zoë" Phoebe asked. She may be one of the oldest hunters, but for whatever reason, she sets up her tent at the end of the line
"Perseus woke up a few times last night...He has a set of lungs for being so young" Zoë answered. She's not wrong, but I guess her request to soundproof my tent makes more sense, since she's presuming that he's going to stay in there.
I quickly downed the nectar that Zoë brought to me during all of this, and asked if she could just get me a bowl of cereal as I bounced Perseus, trying to keep him entertained. She brought out the bowl of cereal to me I thanked her, and started eating it.

It was nice for the couple of minutes it lasted. I would say I was about halfway through when Perseus decided to test out his limbs and hit the bowl...spilling it...all over the both of us. I looked down and started giving him a half-hearted glare, while the hunters that woke up and just started coming in stared in shock, while Phoebe and Zoë were trying to contain their laughter. Perseus on the other hand looked up at me with a grin on his face before he started giggling. From what he was giggling about I do not know, " I was enjoying that you know" I stated to the baby sitting on my lap, to which he just giggled even more. I sighed, "Was I not paying enough attention to you" I asked rhetorically, but my hunters responded for him anyways saying yes.
I sighed again and told my hunters I was going to get ready for a meeting I made with Hestia yesterday, and that Zoë as usual was in charge until my return. "milady what of Percy" a few of the hunters asked at the same time. I looked down at him and made up my mind, "He'll be coming with Hestia and I... and Yes I will be bringing him back, so don't worry about losing your baby brother" I said, knowing many of my hunters grown fond of him once they got to hold him.
I just finished getting ready, which included the unexpected bath for both Perseus and myself, why did he have to spill my cereal all over the both of us. Aunt Demeter will be disappointed in him if she hears of that. Why she has a thing for cereal will always elude me, it's not great nor is it terrible, but it has gotten increasingly sugary. I guess it is quick, which is why we keep some in stock.
Anyways, I picked up Perseus and held him close to me before walking out of my tent to already see Hestia, in a form older than what she usually stays at, ready to take me wherever she plans to take me. "Are you ready, dear" She asked.
I was about to respond, but she cut me off, "I was talking to young Perseus, Artemis. I know that you are ready" she finished and I blushed in embarrassment. "Alright let's go" she says, after Perseus quickly falls asleep.

We came to a store front of which I didn't know what to expect was inside. Hestia must have noticed my nervousness, because she decided to try and settle it, "Artemis, we are just here to get clothes for him" she said dragging me slightly inside of the store.
"It's been so long since I've been able to do this" she said pulling some onesies off the rack. "Some of these things are for when he grows. He's not going to stay that size forever, Niece" Hestia continued.
I don't know when, but Perseus woke up, sometime during this and started point and making grabbing motions to some outfits. Which Hestia somehow understood he wanted so she grabbed them too. I have no clue how long we were there, but the store clerk looked confused as Hades when we came up with probably more than enough clothes for five children.
"are you sure you need this many clothes" she asked us
"Yes, my niece here was recently kicked out by her father, once he found out about my grand-nephew here, and well he may have burned everything she got for him, so I am helping her replace everything that was lost" Auntie Hestia said. The woman behind the counter looked a bit horrified at the story Auntie H said, but if my father did find out about Perseus, I wouldn't be surprised if it came true.
"well you oughta have the nicest aunt in existence" she stated, a bit in shock.
"I do. And I'm thankful that she's helping me out with him, while allowing me to finish school and crash at her place, for the time being" I said, holding Perseus slightly tighter to me. I didn't know if I could trust her, and I just realized I'm super attached to him. Hestia seemed to realize this to and gave me half hug when the store clerk bagged our purchase.
Hestia thanked her, and we left the store teleporting the clothes back to my tent. "Now we need to get diapers for him, some toys, and some furniture like a crib, changing table, and a dresser or two" Hestia told me.
"why does he need so much" I inquired
"And a few parenting books for you and the hunt apparently" Auntie H mumbled. "He needs these things if you want him sleeping in his own bed and a place to store his clothes. Though I guess you could go without the changing table, it's more of an optional thing as any flat surface will generally do. The toys are so he is entertained and learns his muscular functions. The diapers are so he doesn't use his clothes as a toilet. Eventually you'll have to potty train him, but you may want to wait a year or maybe a little more before you start that" she explained
"oh" came my oh so intelligent response, " I guess I do need some parenting books then". Hestia just smiled at that and teleported us to get the furniture and we eventually finished off with toys, and she picked up everything Percy pointed at and/or made a grabbing motion towards.
"Auntie do you really think he'll play with everything" I asked
"No, but he has options, and shouldn't get bored with all the toys we got him" She said
"I have no clue how I am going to fit all of this in my tent. Couldn't I just teach him how to use a bow or something." I asked.
Apparently that was the wrong thing to ask, as Hestia and a few other women in the store gasped, "what" I questioned
"he's too young for that" said some random woman, and Hestia nodded
"yes, he's too young for that Diana. You can maybe start teaching him when he turns 4, but you shouldn't give a baby a bow and arrow. "Hestia stated, not leaving any room for argument.
"Fine, I won't start teaching him archery until he's 4" I stated and although some of the women still looked offended at me for saying I'll teach him how to use a bow and arrow, the rest of the women sighed in relief that I will at least wait till he's older.
"Now, come on let's get back home" Hestia said noticing Perseus fell asleep on my shoulder. How does she notice he's asleep before I do, I really should start paying more attention to him, if he keeps falling asleep on me.
