《Chasing Rain ✓》If Only

I am not attracted to the beauty on your face but that in your eyes.
- Damien
I quietly walked out of the room. She had nothing to say. I don't know why but my heart burned seeing those tears in her eyes.
I sighed as I ran my hand through my hair. I quickly made my way to get ready. But before I could reach my room, Marie stopped me half way.
"Sir, when do you want the food to be served?", Marie asked.
It must have came to a surprise to her that I didn't wake up at my usual time. It was even surprising to me and more over refreshing.
"We will have the meal outside. Also don't cook any other meal. We will be outside throughout the day.", I stated. Marie just bow her head and left.
I quickly entered the room and directly went to take a shower. Though the weather was a bit crisp today but it did not bother me. I still took a cold shower. The cold water was numbing my body but my mind was racing.
Love
It is such a foreign word to me. But today looking at Rain crying at the memories of her lost dad, I didn't know what to say. Is this how love works? I know what I feel for Amber is love but with Rain, it is complicated.
I never rejoiced love. My parents never loved me. I was just an asset, an object to carry on there family legacy that is written with blood. Well in short my parents were never parents. They were ruthless demons. But not like I am less then that.
Still there are differences between us, sir wanted to be a part of this whole mafia thing and I was forced to be in it. Because if I should not have been the way I am today then I should have been killed long ago.
I shook my head as I left the bathroom. I wrapped the towel around my hips. I quickly changed into an all black look. How much I hate that girl, Lilly or whatever is her name is I don't want to hurt Rain's sentiments so black it is. Also I put my gun on my waist band .
My hair were still wet as I left my room. As I closed the door of my room, I saw Rain and Amber leaving Amber's room. Amber was wearing a black jumpsuit with a black shrug. Rain was in a knee length black dress.
I frowned. She will feel cold but I kept my mouth shut. I looked down at Amber to see she was having a broad smile on her face which completely contrasted with Rain's sad smile.
Amber was holding Rain's finger but as soon she saw me she left Rain's hand and rushed in my directing. She stood directly in front of me as she opened her arms wide. Maybe indicating for me to pick her up. I swiftly picked her as she knotted her hand around my neck.
My heart soared at it. She wanted to be with me on her own. I looked at Rain to see her giving me a thumbs up with a small smile playing on her lips and the cherry to the cake was that Amber planted a kiss on my left cheek.
"You ready princess?", I asked her softly and she nodded her head.
"Damien, we are already late. So let me first feed Amber", Rain suggested.

"We are going to have breakfast outside.", I stated but inside of responding Rain sighed dramatically. I raised my eyebrow at her.
"We are going to be so late.", Rain said in frustration. I could understand her frustration. Also it was amusing to see the spark in her because she had always been reserved.
"We are going to be fashionably late, angel.", I stated with a wink.
"It is not a party Damien. It is for god sake someone's funeral.", Rain urged but I ignored her plea.
"Come.", I stated as I waked down the staircase. I could here her clumsy footsteps to know she was following me but I feared even in her flats she is capable of falling. But luckily we all three got down the stair and that so to without Rain slipping.
I looked to see Pear was standing near the couch. What the hell is he doing here? Didn't I tell them not to disturb me today!
"What?", I growled.
"Boss we need your help.", Pear stated and my irritation rised ten folds. Can't these motherf*ckers handle things on there own.
"It better be important.", I hissed and Pear nodded his head.
I placed Amber down as I walked a bit way from Rain and Amber to talk with Pear. There is no need for them to listen to the conversation. It is best if things are left hidden from then.
"Boss, Piper is not ready to open his mouth. You have told us not to kill him but with all the torture we are doing still he is not opening his mouth.", Pear stated. His legs trembling a bit.
I pinched the bridge of my nose. Fine he wants to play then let it be.
"Do you know the family members of Piper?", I asked and Pear nodded his head.
"He has a wife that is six month pregnant.", Pear stated. This is great!
"Abduct her. But don't let Piper know about it. Tell all the underbosses to be ready. I will see them tonight.", I stated and motioned for him to leave.
I looked back to see Amber was jumping at the couch and Rain was trying to pull her down. I quickly went towards them and picked up a jumping Amber. She looked at me and pouted as I let go of a chuckle.
"Come angel.", I stated as we started walking outside the mansion. I picked up the key to my Jaguar. I plan to drive on my own. We made our way to the garage as we unlocked the car.
"Damien are they going to follow us?", Rain asked looking at the bulky bodyguards.
"Yes.", I stated without much thought.
"It will get overwhelming. Can't we leave without them?", Rain suggested.
"It is for are safety. They won't come near us till the time not necessary. You have nothing to be bothered about.", I explained as Rain just nodded her head.
I opened the door for Rain. She muttered a soft thank you as she got in. I placed a pouting Amber in her arms and as soon as she looked at Amber she let go of a chuckle.
"You are still angry for not letting you jump on the couch?", Rain questioned as Amber nodded her head and folded her arms around her chest.
I simply shook my head as I got inside the car. I started the car. The engine roar to life and soon we were on the main road. I turned on the heater as it was pretty cold and let the radio play in the background. I never liked listening to music but I have seen many times when Rain is humming to herself.

After not being on the road even for ten minutes I noticed that Amber has fallen asleep. I knitted my brows.
"She sleeps awfully a lot. I think we should take her to a doctor ones.", I stated.
"Relax everything is fine.", Rain stated is she run her hand through Amber's hair.
"Infact I received a mail in the morning regarding Amber's blood report and by god's virtue everything is fine.", she said softly.
"Then why she sleeps this much?", I questioned.
"She had a major operation Damien. It's just been one month to that operation. Her body needs time.", Rain stated.
"How do you know?", I asked.
"I have been like this for three months after having Amber. For the first three months it was my grandparents and Sam who took care of Amber.", she stated.
Wait but as much as I know there are no cases like it after having norna....
"You had a normal delivery, right?", I asked. I wanted an affirmation but rain shook her head negatively.
"Well let's say my pregnancy has way to many complication. All doctors recommended me to have a abortion because the pregnancy was life threatening.", Rain murmured but I heard her clearly.
"Then?", I asked softly.
"But after knowing it was a girl, I couldn't even think of having an abortion. I was stubborn. But then I slipped from the staircase in my seventh month. The case was very critical so the doctor asked my grandparents if they wanted to save the baby or me. My grandparents said me so everyone was expecting a still born but it was a miracle that Amber was born breathing even if barely.", Rain explained.
Regret and remorse filled me. If I should have been with her then she should have been taken care of in a better way. We could have the best doctors of the country and maybe she should have never slipped from the staircase.
I felt a hand on my right on. It was cold yet so soft completely opposite to mine. It was so small that it only covered half my hand. My hand snapped at a speed that even I was surprised. I looked at the side to see it was Rain's hand.
"It is the past Damien. Just let it be.", Rain said softly.
"But...", I was about to object but she shut me.
"What happened was destined to happen and it happened for a reason. So stop thinking about it. Also leave the poor steering wheel from you death grip.", she said with a hint of humour. It was only then I realised I was holding the steering wheel in a death grip. Even my knuckles have turned white.
I sighed. But this line kept playing in my mind. If only I knew this earlier.
Soon we stopped in the parking of a restaurant called Joul's Meal. I looked in Rain's direction to see she was waking Amber.
"Come on baby wake up. Aren't you hungry?", Rain asked as she gently shook Amber. A yawn left Amber's mouth and I thought she would wake up but no. She turned around and buried her head deeper in Rain's chest.
So after begging and tickling her for good five minutes by both of us. Her highness was finally up. I got out of my seat and moved to open the door for Rain. I planned to pick Amber up but Rain stopped we.
"Let her walk for a while otherwise she will again fall asleep.", Rain said and I found myself nodding my head.
As soon as she was put down. She wrapped her arms around my left leg. She didn't even reached my knee.
I crouched down to her level.
"You need to walk baby or your mother will be angry.", I stated softly but Amber stubbornly shook her head.
"Amber don't be like this baby. Come on.", Rain stated as she passed her hand to her. Amber was quick to wrap her hand around Rain's index finger. We three walked side by side as I opened the door of the dinner.
The bell of the dinner chimed as we entered. All heads were turned in our direction. The dinner suddenly had pin drop silence. I looked at my side to see that Rain and Amber haven't noticed. The place wasn't buzzing as it was office time but still had enough people.
We sat in the back. A bit away from the low lives. The waitress came and took our orders. I think Rain didn't notice that the waitress was trembling and stammering. Of maybe she noticed and let it slip. Soon our breakfast was served. The breakfast was going quietly before we heard a girl's voice.
"Dad I really love him and if you won't let me have him then I will run from the house.", the girl said.
"But baby you are just fifteen. Wait for some more time.", the man whom I assume was her father urged but the girl shook her head.
"It is bad to eardrop Damien.", Rain stated.
"If they want to make it personal then they shouldn't do it in the dinner.", I argued but Rain just shook her head.
I looked it Amber's direction and a thought Rose in my mind. Will she fight with me for a worthless boy?
"She won't be allowed to have a boyfriend before twenty five.", I stated.
"What?", Rain asked. Her eyes big and filled with mischief.
"I said...."
"I heard you in the first go.", Rain stated.
"You can't stop her.", Rain stated. I simply frowned.
"Girls are like birds Damien and if you try to cage them, they will keep banging at the cage even if they know they will hurt themselves and at the end either they die because of that suffering or you are forced to set them free.", Rain said wisely.
"But these days boys are just behind one thing.", I argued.
"I beg to differ. It is a very stereotypical statement Damien and is completely not true.", Rain said.
"Fine but I will choose her boyfriend." , I muttered in defeat.
"That will be seen.", Rain stated as she let go of a short laugh completely enjoying it and for Amber she was too oblivious to the world. After all she was devouring her cheese sandwich.
And then was I who was thinking of the the future. A future I don't even know if we hold.
