《Chasing Rain ✓》Disappointment

Life is too short for regret but I regret every moment that I do something wrong because it is all related to you.

-Damien

I felt frustrated seeing those motherf*cker cops but I kept my mouth shut and kept a solemn face. I don't want Rain to know that I killed her by slicing her throat in such a manner that she choked on her own blood.

After tiny bit of negotiating. Okay maybe not negotiating just plain intimidation, the hopeless and pathetic blokes decided to interrogate Rain in the house. But like hell I will let them do it. They are in the wrong territory and they know it full well.

I don't know why Rain cried for her. What's her name Lily, Lilian....? I don't remember it, neither I want to nor I give a f*ck about it. She was troublesome and she dared threaten my daughter. I don't take this type of sh*t.

"Sir..."

I heard a worried voice and hurried foot steps descending the staircase. I turned around to see Marie carrying Amber.

"Ms Amber has fainted.", Marie said in a worried tone. Everything came to stop listening that. Before I could make a move, Rain has rushed in the direction. She took her in her arms.

"Amber, baby.", Rain stated while patting Amber's cheek.

I quickly made my way near the door and picked out the Tesla's key. I swiftly moved in the direction of Rain. My heart was beating furiously. I took Amber from Rain's arm as I dashed towards the car in the garage. Rain followed me without a word.

I unlocked the car as Rain took Amber from my arms as she settled on her seat with Amber in her lap. I started the car as it roared to life. Quickly we were on the road. Rain was constantly trying to wake Amber but to no avail.

My fear was creeping up with every passing second. I just hope her food wasn't poisoned. But we all ate the same food so the chances are rare but still I can't be sure.

In my hurriedness I jumped almost every red light. Not caring a bit. The thought of the officers still being in my house was completely forgotten. Soon the hospital came in view. I quickly parked the car, picked up Amber as I dashed inside the hospital. Rain following me hot on my tail.

In a span of a few minutes, Amber was taken from my arm and placed on a stretcher. The doctors took Amber with them leaving Rain and me alone. We both were standing in front of the room, Amber was taken to.

I heard soft sobs from the back. I turned around to see Rain was crying. The scene broke something in me. Not just because I feared Amber is poisoned and if that is the case I will never be able to forgive myself. I don't regret anything in life but this is something about I am going to regret.

Another thing was this growing connection with Rain. I don't know why but seeing her cry didn't sit well with me. I don't know what this is but I maybe liked this connection.

I pulled Rain in my direction by using her waist. She didn't complain. She simply buried her head in my chest as she sobbed. It was then I noticed she barely reached my chest. I didn't know how to calm her. For me women are like tissues, use and throw. But this woman is different. She is the mother of our daughter.

"Amber...", she wailed once she has stopped sobbing.

I tied my arms around her. One around her waist and another around her shoulder.

"She is going to be fine, angel.", I stated softly trying to comfort her.

"Damien...."

Before Rain could complete her statement, the doctor came out. Rain swiftly let go of me and I immediately missed the warmth her feminine body was providing. I let go of Rain as we both looked at the doctor.

"She is perfectly fine, just her blood pressure fell so she fainted.", the doctor stated and I sighed. If she should have been poisoned then the streets should have been drenched with showers of blood.

"Can we meet her?", Rain asked and the doctor nodded his head.

We both entered the room to see Amber was peacefully sleeping on the bed. Rain quickly went to her and caressed her cheek. A soft smile taking over her features.

That smile made my heart skip a beat. It was like the bloom of the pink petals of cherry blossom. Wait, when I started saying such things? Get a grip Damien, get a grip.

Keeping my confused feelings at bay I made my way to Amber. I put a hand over Rain's left shoulder.

"Relax angel. I told you she will be fine.", I stated softly. Rain simply nodded her head.

I made my way out of the room. The thought of her being poisoned wasn't leaving my mind. I don't know when but I started retrospecting. The day when my dad aka Sir was poisoned.

I was sitting patiently on the dinning table waiting for Sir. Women aren't supposed to sit together with men to have a meal.

I was anxious. Last night Sir asked me to kill a man but I was unable to do that. Killing with knifes was new to me. I am not used to them. Shooting is easy but using a knife is tough. So much blood gets on the cloth. I really don't like that much amount of blood shed.

But Sir says at the age of sixteen people are more ruthless than I am. I don't say I am a saint. Even a part of me enjoy killing others but not by ruining my cloths.

Sir entered the room and I got up from my seat. A sign of respect but fake one.

"You will be punished today.", Sir stated. I simply gulped. I know this was coming. But I couldn't help.

Sir took the glass of water as he gulped it down. He had a habit of drinking water before starting a meal. He touched his plate and then even I started with the mean.

As the lunch proceeded Sir started coughing. His coughing speed increased and finally blood started coming out of his mouth and nose. All the maids and servants gathered around him along with me but before he could say anything or we could do anything, his eyes rolled back and he was silenced forever.

It has been five hours and princess has woken up and was being fed by Rain. Rain has not left her for a moment. Doctors have collected her blood for testing.

"Ready to go home?", I asked to no one in particular. Amber clapped her hands and I chuckled. She was eager to leave this s*it hole just as much as I want. Rain just slightly nodded her head. I frowned. Is something wrong with her?

I picked up Amber in my arms before she could hop down. In the meanwhile the doctors entered the room and told that everything was fine with Amber. I simply nodded my head as we left the hospital.

Once in the parking I placed Amber on Rain's lap. Not like I could not have placed her on my lap and drove.

Soon I brought the car on the road. Rain has been way to quiet. She doesn't talks much but she wasn't even replying to Amber like she was in some other world.

"Don't do it baby.", I heard Rain say. I looked in there direction to see Amber was playing with the seat belt. But I don't think Amber was bothered by what Rain stated as she continued using the seat belt as her toy.

"Amber!", she yelled and all the movements of Amber stopped. She placed her hand on her lap and hung her head low. I swiftly parked the car at the side to give a piece of mind to Rain.

I looked in Amber's direction to see big fat tears were falling down from her eyes. I removed my seat belt and took Amber in my arm. She quickly wrapped her hands around my neck and buried her face in the crook of my neck.

"Why did you do that?", I hissed at Rain and I think only at that moment she realised that Amber was crying.

"My Lord...", she started as she quickly took Amber back from my arms and hugged her tightly. She stepped out of the car with Amber still in her arms.

I could hear her repeatedly saying sorry to her and soon she started singing a lullaby for her. In a span of few minutes Amber has dozed off.

She came back to the car as she sat inside of the car without saying a word. I was confused at her behaviour. Why was she behaving like that?

"What is wrong angel?", I asked softly but she didn't reply. She just looked down. It was enough for me to shut my mouth. Her silence it was irritating me. The air inside the car was thick with tension.

Soon we reached the mansion. I parked the car and I knew Rain won't be able to carry Amber for so long so I took her in my arms and made my way to her room.

The cops were gone and they would come back tonight. I made a mental note to inform Rain about it. I placed Amber on the bed of her own room. I turned around to see Rain looking out of the window absentmindedly.

"What is wrong?", I asked this time in a more commanding manner.

She looked in my eyes with....hatred. What have I done?

"You are my problem.", she hissed.

I am confused. I don't know what I have done wrong. Her hatred it...hurt. I don't know why but it did. It is like I never want her hatred.

"What have I done angel?", I groaned. She was just beating around the bush.

"Since the day you have entered our life, everything, each and everything has been going wrong. Lila's death, separation from my grandparents, being molested, having an argument with Lila and now Amber fainting. We haven't been here for even three full days and so much has happened.", she shouted at me as tears of frustration ran down her cheeks.

I stayed calm. I know she felt uncomfortable maybe even lost. But what ever she was saying was in frustration. Yes a lot has happened but nothing was completely my fault so I had no need to bury myself with guilt. Okay I killed two people for her but I have no guilt for that. They deserved it. I don't mind going back in time and killing them again.

I heard her sniffling. I moved closer to her and she didn't notice that. I placed my finger below her chin as I lifted her face. Disappointment, her face showed it clearly.

"Think again angel. Was everything my fault?", I asked softly.

"I...."

She stated but nothing came out of her mouth. I know she was thinking about it.

"Think love. I know a lot happened but was it my fault? I had no role in it. I would never want to bring harm to you or Amber. Think what was my role in it if her blood pressure was low. Why will I try to hurt her, my own blood and flesh! I know in the past I have made some irrational and bad decisions but trust me I am trying to make things right. Just try to give me a chance. If not for yourself so then for our daughter.", I urged.

I heard her sigh and frowning. Her soft plump red lips were in a pout making her look adorable.

"I am sorry.", she murmured softly looking in my eyes. I gave a small smile as I wiped the tears on her cheeks.

"The cops are coming tonight so be prepared for that. But don't worry I won't let them make you uncomfortable.", I stated before leaving the room.

I made my way to my room. I won't be able to go to work today. Also the cops are coming tonight so it is better I stay at home.

My phone rang as I looked at the screen my blood boiled.

"Hello brother."
