I jumped in Karl's arm as soon as he entered inside the room. God he was finally here. His body was warm as I collided my cold body against his warm one.

But he was not as warm as Damien. My eyes widened at that thought.

Why was I thinking like that?

"Karl.... ", I started but I pulled back by someone. I didn't need to look back to find out he was Damien.

God why is he the way he is? I felt his grip tightened around my waist and I shall be truthful that it hurt. I started trashing but he didn't even bulge. What does he eats, cement and bricks?

"Damien you are hurting me.", I cried and it was then that he came out of his trance. He loosen his hold on my waist but never let go. I looked in front to see Karl shaking like a leaf.

What's wrong? I thought to myself. I twisted my head a bit to see Damien shooting daggers at him. I tried getting out of his hold but it was to no avail.

"Stay.", Damien whispered in my ear but it was nothing sweet. His words held a promise a deadly one.

The tension in the air was thick and it started making me feel suffocated. Men these days!

"Who are you? ", Damien hissed and Karl audibly gulped. God Karl this much so I don't fear him as much as you are doing. At that moment I wanted to shout man up Karl.

Karl just stood there frozen and trembling. It was like he was about to have a panic attack.

"Karl relax. ", I softly mumbled. But this didn't calm him down he continued starring at Damien.

"Don't talk to him.", Damien hissed while again tightening his hold on my waist.

"Answer me bloody fool!", Damien yelled. I looked towards the bed to see Amber was still deep in sleep. Thank god his voice didn't wake her up.

"I a-am Rain's fianc-ce.", Karl stammered. His voice sounded pathetic at that moment but who could judge him. He was after all standing in front of a very intimidating man.

"So you think you are her fiance.", Damien asked calmly. But to me it looked like the silence before the storm.

"Yes w-e are en-naged.", Karl stutter.

I felt Damien loosen the hold on my waist. I sighed in relief but before I could move in Karl's direction, Damien turned me around using my shoulders. To stable myself I held his shirt. What is this man thinking?

His one hand went to my waist and other lifted my chin so that I could see in his arm. His eyes were dark almost black and I knew he was angry. Well angry should have been the wrong word. He was enraged. Ready to destroy everything in his path.

"Is he really your fiance?", Damien asked me in a calm tone. Completely different from his demeanor.

I couldn't form words as it his glaze has trapped me in that position. I simply nodded my head as I lifted my hand to show him my engagement ring.

A growl left his mouth as he let go of me and moved in Karl's direction. His steps were calculative as a sinister smile tugged on his lips. A shiver ran down my spine. The hair at the back of my neck stood.

Damien stood in front of Karl. As he examined him from head to toe. Next thing he snaked his arm slowly around Karl's neck. My heartbeat increased was he going to kill him?

"So you are the future father of my daughter?", Damien asked.

Karl stood dumbfounded. Go Karl do something before he chokes you. I looked in Karl's eye pleading him to say something. It was after I looked at him that his stance changed. He looked more confident and determined.

"Yes. I am Amber's father.", Karl said confidently. Yes Karl way to go. You can do it. I clapped for him in my mind.

Something changed in the atmosphere. The level of suffocation increased. What was this man planning? Before I could even blink my eyes, Damien had Karl pinned on the walls with his legs dangling in the air. He was choking him. I looked around in panic. I need to stop him.

I moved in his direction as I gripped his bicep. I tried moving him but that man didn't bulge. Karl's face was turning an ugly shade of purple. He would kill him. I could see Karl trashing but it didn't help. He was easily overpowered by Damien.

"Leave him Damien.", I hissed as teared blurred my vision. I felt helpless. He was killing my fiance and I couldn't do anything. God give me strength.

"Damien!", I sobbed and this brought him out of his daze. He let go of Karl and turned around in my direction.

"God woman you cry so much.", Damien hissed.

I took this opportunity to make a ran in Karl's direction. I bent on my knees next to Karl. Karl was breathing heavily.

"Karl are you okay?", I asked softly. Karl nodded his head and before I could say something I was pulled back in a hard chest. Such a caveman.

"She is mine.", Damien hissed to Karl.

"Amber is my daughter and I won't let anyone else become her father.", Damien stated.

Karl stood up from his sitting position once he has calmed down. He looked straight at me.

I didn't say anything. I didn't know what to say.

"Listen Mr. Black you have no right over their life. They are free to take their own decision.", Karl stated.

Good Karl I am proud of you.

"Damien listen to me you have no right over my daughter or me. So let's just continue with our life.", I whispered.

"So you want a life without me.", Damien asked in a cold tone. I didn't know what to say. I definitely didn't want my daughter to grow around a man like him. He is a beast. I can't let my sensitive flower near him.

I simply nodded my head.

"Fine just let me have a talk with your fiance.", Damien said in a mocking tone. I looked at Karl to see his eyes widen.

"I don't want to talk to you about anything personally.", Karl said while shaking his head.

"I never asked you piece of wool.", Damien hissed.

He looked in my direction waiting for an answer. I know Damien is going blackmail him but this is Karl's test. If he really loves Amber and me he would come back to us. If a man really loves you then he will protect his family at any cause but it didn't look like he loved us enough.

"You can.", I softly stated.

"Rain but..", Karl started. Karl do you really think even if I say no to him then he will stop. Nah, no way.

"Let's have a talk then, Karl.", Damien spit his name menacingly.

I looked over to Karl as I made my way towards him. I placed my hand on both of his cheeks as I looked deeply on his eyes.

"We are with you. Both Amber and me.", I stated as I rubbed my thumb on his cheek. Something changed in Karl's eyes. Determination, I could see it in his eyes. He nodded his head as I removed my hand from his cheeks. I looked back to see Damien giving an annoyed look. But luckily he didn't say anything.

I looked at both of them as they left the room. Was it the right decision? I thought to myself but it didn't matter now. They are both gone. I sat on the chair next to Amber's bed.

"Things are getting too complicated baby. Just three days back it was all perfectly fine.", I said to Amber with a sigh.

I feel frustrated. I don't know what to do. A caveman and more worst a beast has entered out life and it didn't look like he will let us go. Then their is my fiance about whom I am not sure about. Will he stand with us?

I will be truthful. I never loved him. Yes I liked him. The only reason I decided to marry him was because of the bonding he had with Amber. I know he would be a great father and do I see a good father in Damien, well not right now.

I sighed as I stroked Amber's cheek. Her cheeks were cold just like her body. Before I could say something, the door opened and nana walked in.

"I say Damien forcefully taking Karl with him.", nana asked confused. A yawn left my mouth. God I am exhausted.

I explained everything thing to nana. As she listened to me carefully. She had always been a keen listener.

"What will you do now?", nana asked me.

I looked towards her. Do I really have to the answer to this question, well not really.

"We can always go to the police. You have Amber's official custody.", nana advised.

"He owns the whole law system.", I told my Nana as I rubbed my temples. I was really started a headache. How will I protect my baby? I felt like I was loosing the battle.

"Relax Rain. It will all be fine.", nana tried assuring me but it was of no use. I don't think everything is going to be alright.

Before I could say anything the door again opened as Karl entered the room shaking like a leaf with a busted lip. I quickly got up from my sit and made my way to Karl.

"Karl...." I started as I took a look at him. Nana also stood next to me observing Karl.

"I am okay.", Karl said in a raspy voice.

"Do you want water?", I asked him to which he shook his head.

"Can I talk to you privately?", Karl asked.

I nodded my head.

"I will take my leave.", my nana stated as she quickly left the room.

"Rain I can't do it.", Karl stated as I stared at him dumbfounded. A lot of emotion ran through my body. But the strongest was betrayal.

"But why?", I whispered as tears now freely flowed down my cheeks.

"I am sorry Rain but I can't do it.", Karl whispered without looking in my eyes. Was he embarrassed well because he need to be.

"He will kill me.", Karl hissed.

"But what about us?", I asked shakily. Didn't he love Amber. Didn't he promise that day that he would protect and be with us through all highs and lows. Didn't he?

"Rain I love my life. He is Damien Black and he has promised me that he would kill me if I marry you. He even said he would finish my family. Rain I love Amber but I even love my family. I-I can't do it. I am sorry.", Karl said while removing his engagement ring.

He took my hand and placed the ring in my palm as he turned on his heels and left.

Karl why did you do that? I thought you were stronger. I thought you could take care of us. But I was extremely wrong. Few threats and boom he left.

"Don't cry for him.", Damien said as he entered the room.

"You-you ruined everything.", I hissed as he got near me. What could I say now I was stuck with him and I had no choice. God help me.

He softly placed his hand on my cheeks as he wiped the tears. His action was so gentle that I almost gasped. Was it the same Damien?

"He was not a real man because if he should have been then he should have protected his family at all cost. He was nothing but a coward. Humans be it man or woman are social creatures and live for others. It depends on whom you put above yourself", Damien said.

But he was better that you. I wanted to yell at him but I restrained myself.

"What did you say to him?", I asked him.

"Nothing I just placed my gun over his forehead.", Damien said with a smirk.
