《Sky and Tuck》Chapter 3

This week could not be crazier. First, I get a call from Keller that he and his girlfriend Rachel are eloping in San Francisco, and he wants me to be there with them. The wedding guests will be Keller, Rachel, Rachel's son Jase, Tyler, Melanie who is Tyler's girlfriend and Rachel's best friend, and .... Tucker.
Yeah, Tucker Holloway, my former best friend, the guy who dropped me like a freaking disease the moment he hit the big time with his band.
I'd had a huge crush on Tuck for years, but what really hurt was that we had been friends. Best Friends. After the disastrous concert where I saw him in his orgy, we had minimal text contact. He called a few times, left me some drunk rambling messages, a few empty promises that he'd keep in touch, basically he lied at every opportunity and then bolted out of my life. For a while I missed the boy that I had crushed on, but it took me a much longer time to get over missing my best friend. Unfortunately, to this day, I will still occasionally want to tell him something, I momentarily forget that he is out there somewhere, but not in my world.
Everything worked out for the best though, I went on to USF in San Francisco, I write for the school newspaper, and I've also sent some letters to the editors of various newspapers and blogs. My goal is to write books, and with any luck and a lot of hard work, that will happen.
Tyler and Mel still live down south in Los Angeles. Ty is now the manager for Kell and Tucks band, Clashed. He met Mel through Rachel, Kells girlfriend. The four of them are really close, and they've created a nice little family. Whenever I'm in LA I stay with them, and hang with the girls, both Rach and Mel are like the sisters that I never had, and I consider myself very lucky to have them in my life.

Clashed is a phenom, super successful, the band all other bands aspire to be. Jake, the founding member of the band is a rather intense guy, but truly nice. He's really kind of the de facto leader, and most of the guys follow his path. He and Tuck used to write most of the music, but the past few albums, have been mostly Jake and some of the other guys.
Tuck is sadly just kind of out there now. He is super popular in the tabloids and in the gossip scene, always hanging around with actresses and models. He's got SEVERAL sex tapes out there, none that I've ever seen or even want to see. He's basically turned in to a full-time partier. He rarely sees his parents, and the only time he sees Kell is at a concert or mandatory function.
I know from hearing Ty and Kell talk that Tuck is deep into his sex, drugs and partying. There have even been talks that Jake wants Tuck out of the band. I feel bad for Tuck, but worse for Kell. I know that Kell feels guilty that he brought his brother into the band and on tour when Tuck was only 18, and that Tuck then went crazy wild from there.
Their parents are pretty sad about the state of Tucks life now. Tuck has missed so many important events with their family. Hopefully he'll show up for the wedding, but I know that Kell isn't counting on it. It actually might not be a bad thing if he misses it. Tuck insists on calling Rach, Yoko. As in Yoko Ono, the wife that got blamed for the breakup of the Beatles.
He's such a jerk, Rach isn't trying to break up Clashed, and she's actually trying to buy him time with Kell and Jake, before they kick him out of the band. The band members are the ones who are sick and tired of Tucks games.

Ty said that Tuck not only hasn't contributed any original music on the latest album, but his playing has been really poor. I find that so difficult to believe, because before, when he lived at home, he was a musical perfectionist. He'd play for hours, until his hands literally bled on to his sticks. I guess the drugs and the liquor and girls are catching up to him.
My boyfriend Lucas is picking me up, then we'll Uber to City Hall where the wedding is going to be. Rach is wearing a beautiful vintage 1940's tight dress in a soft pink silk, Mel and I are both wearing dresses in different tones of green. We all found our dresses in a vintage shop in the Haight. Mel's dress is a 1950's super fitted bodice with a full skirt in a light green silk. My dress is a 1950's tight sheath in a darker green tone on tone print, I have to say this style really flatters my body. I'm average height, 5'5, but I have pretty blue eyes and great blonde hair. I'm very slim because I run a lot, but thanks to mom, I have some nice D's. My 4-inch heels bring me up to Lucas' shoulders, but I'll still be much shorter than my brother and Kell. Tyler is 6'3, but Kell and Tucker are closer to 6'5, absurdly handsome men, well at least Kell is, I haven't seen Tuck in person for a few years. I mean I've seen him from a distance, on stage at a concert. But after my first concert after-party experience, I opted to make that my ONLY concert after-party experience. When I see the band play now, I watch from the audience, and then meet up with Kell, Rach and whomever else at a location far and away from the party.
Oh well, I don't like going down that particular road into memory town, so I better finish my hair and get ready to go to a wedding!
The clerk who performed the wedding did a beautiful job. She obviously recognized Kell, but totally played it cool so it didn't ruin his big day. Or should I say THEIR big day?! I guess that Kell and Mel knew, but it was a surprise to me. Ty and Rach also got married! Rach is pregnant, so they decided to get married the same day as Kell and Mel.
I was the only one who didn't know about the surprise nuptials, and I cried a very happy, but unfortunately also a very ugly cry. It was such a sweet ceremony, and so very beautiful. Jase, Mel's son, was the ring bearer for both ceremonies, he was so proud, I was the flower girl. It was beautiful and private, everything that they all wanted.
After the ceremonies, we went to a fancy lunch downtown, and then walked along the beach for a bit before they all took off for their honeymoons. The Holloways went to Fiji, and the Stricklands went to Europe. Unfortunately, this Strickland went back to her tiny apartment in the city, but I was with my sweet boyfriend, so that was ok!
The only downer was that as expected, Tucker Holloway, brother of one of the grooms was a no show. No call, no text, no email, just, no show.
What a jerk.

The world isn't fair. If anything, the inherent injustice of the world is what separates it from the fiction we so adore. Luis Freighthold knew this all too well, and that was why it took a bit longer than it should have to realise when he suddenly had everything he could ever have wanted. Raised in a working-class single-father home, Luis had no other escape than fiction. Specifically, vampire stories of varying quality and genre. There was something appealing about the ability to fly, turn into shadows and become smoke. Danger. An unfamiliarity with the social world that rejected him so. Was it so wrong for him to hope for a different life? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, now he had it—a lust for blood and abilities beyond the understanding of civil man. Could you really say that he had anything left to complain about? A vampire story following an unconventional vampire boy forced to accept that maybe becoming a vampire doesn't magically solve all your problems. As a matter of fact, it might just make a whole bunch of them even worse. Regardless, Luis is prepared to try everything to live up to the vampire books he had previously gorged on. What did it matter that his vampire form had no teeth, replaced instead by a long, needle-tipped tongue? He was still a vampire, wasn't he? Chapters are around 10 A4 pages long, releasing once a week on Mondays, 01:00 CET.
