《Scream 1996 [Male reader insert]》October 15, 1996: Part IV

Dewey personally escorted you, Tatum, and Sidney to Stu's house; meaning he drove all of you and parked out front to keep an eye on the party. What better way to keep an eye on you and Sidney as Burke instructed him. Plus, there was always the chance that Niel or whoever was Ghostface would pop up, and Dewey could save the day.
What you all failed to notice was the Top Story news van following close behind.
"Alright, you three have fun. Not too much fun or I'll bust ya," Dewey says, teasingly.
Tatum rolls her eyes, and you all exit the vehicle holding the grocery store bags. You can hear music blaring before you even step foot in the house. There are a few stray teens on the porch, drinking together. You take note that a majority of party-goers settled in the living room. It was a mix of people dancing, drinking, or snacking on stove-top popcorn.
People either cheer or raise their beer bottles at the sight of the three of you. They seemed to anticipate your arrival, along with Sid and Tatum's, since Stu designated the food and snacks to you three solely.
The three of you enter the kitchen to set the bags down. You are greeted by the sight of a teenage boy on his knees in front of Stu. The boy had a beer funnel in his mouth as Stu stood over him, pouring beer into the funnel and holding it up.
"Oh, that's absurd," Tatum comments.
Stu kept his eyes on the boy, "You guys were tardy for the party, so we started without you."
To be fair, the drive to Stu's house was pretty long.
The boy finished chugging the beer and stood up to fist bump Stu, "My man!"
Kenny drove the news van into a more secluded spot to not give away their location. Gale stepped out of the passenger seat cautiously. Kenny opened the main door as quietly as he could.

"Well, were we spotted?" He asks Gale.
Gale spoke in a hushed tone, "I don't think so. Go get the camera." She lets out a startled gasp as she turns around, faced with Dewey.
He takes off his cap, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare ya."
Gale sighs as she shakes her head and forges a smile, "Deputy, that's okay."
"What brings you to these parts?" He speculates.
"Well, you just never know when or where a story will break."
Dewey glances at the Macher house, "Not much of a story here. Just a bunch of kids cutting it loose."
"Then what are you doing here?" Gale shot back.
He hesitated, "Just keeping an eye on things. I'm gonna check the party out," He tries to dismiss himself. As much as he respected Gale, he feared accidentally revealing any information to her that would land him in trouble with the sheriff.
The reporter grabs his arm, "Do you mind if I join you?"
"No, not at all."
"Right, let me just get my coat. Thanks," Gale reaches into the van for her coat, and Kenny hands her the camcorder. They give each other a knowing look, and Gale turns back to Dewey with a wicked smile.
"All right," She states, clearly not asking if Dewey was alright.
"Yeah, I'm fine," He nervously replies.
Gale tilts her head, gesturing to the house. "Oh! Yeah," Dewey's the first to head towards it.
Inside the home, the teens were busy deciding on which movie to put on.
Stu, Tatum, Sidney, and you all fit on the same couch in the living room. You and Sid squeeze into one corner while Stu and Tatum occupy the other, making out.
Randy stood in front of the T.V. with VHS tapes in his hands. "How many Evil Deads?" Randy asks, raising the tape above his head. He counts the two people that raised their hands. "How many Hellraisers?"

Stu pulls away from Tatum, mid-make-out. "Hellraiser right here," He says only loud enough for Tatum to hear and points at her. She laughs and pulls his hand down, leaning her back into his chest.
You and Sidney look at more of Stu's horror collection. She starts listening some off, "The Fog, Terror Train, Prom Night. How come Jamie Lee Curtis is in all these movies?"
You shrug, "She's the scream queen."
"With a set of lungs like that, she should be," Stu blabs.
Sid and Tatum shared a look that said it all.
"Tits, see?" Tatum responds.
The doorbell rang.
"Oh, I'll get it," Stu says, standing on the couch and hopping behind it. He falls to the floor and gets back up, "Hey, Tate, grab another beer, would ya?" He walks towards the door, "There's more beer in the garage."
Tatum slouches and looks around, confused, "What am I, the beer wench?"
Stu comes running back into the living room, positively beaming. "Guys, you are not gonna believe who's here! It's that chick from Top Story."
"Gale Weathers!" Randy shouts with thrill.
Stu nods, "Here. Yeah."
Most of the teens in the living room shoot up with excitement, excluding you, Tatum, and Sid, of course. You all sat up from your relaxed positions on the couch, troubled by the news. When you arrived at the party, you were relieved that Billy wasn't around, but Gale Weathers has done far worse than anything Billy has. Right?
"Shit!" Tatum blurts out, much quieter than anyone else in the room. She stood up, watching as Dewey and Gale both walked in.
You grimace at the sight of her. You've seen her far too many times this week, and it's only Tuesday.
"You're underage, son," Dewey grabs a beer from one of the boys. He looks at Gale before giving the beer back, "I'm kidding. Have a good time," He laughs to cover up his failed attempt at a joke.
"Dewey," Tatum says pointedly. His head snaps at the mention of his name.
She calls his name again, looking more pissed than ever, and gestures to him to talk to her with her pointer finger. He walks over to her with a dopey grin.
"What is she doing here?"
"She's with me. I'm just checking things out," He answers.
"So you did," Tatum replies with false delight, "Now leave, and take your media mouth with you."
Sid got off the couch and stood in the entryway of the living room. She stares at Gale, and they make brief eye contact before Gale walks past her, giving the other teenagers empty greetings.
You lean further into the couch, wishing you could disappear in it. Gale never stayed too long where a story wouldn't break and you were certain she'd be leaving soon. That doesn't mean you want to be subjected to seeing her, so you tilt your head back against the couch cushion and close your eyes.
Dewey approaches Sidney, and they exchange stiff 'hey's.
"Have you found our father?" Sid asks.
"I'm afraid not."
Gale makes her way over to the T.V stand and 'inconspicuously' places the camcorder on the top of the VHS player.
"Should I be worried?"
"Not yet."
You raise your brow at Dewey's last comment. You overheard their conversation despite them quietly talking amongst themselves.
Having nothing else to say, Sidney walks off. Dewey sucks in his teeth, disappointed he couldn't tell Sid the truth.
You overhear Randy and some of the other guys continue to talk about which movie to watch and perk up at the mention of Halloween.
