Halloween Killfest
a month later...
It's Halloween...yay?
I honestly love Halloween, it's the official beginning of the holidays and I love how festive it is. People get to dress how ever they want, be whoever they want, act however they want, and won't get judged for it on this specific day. I could even act like a ragging bitch to everyone and just blame it on the character I'm dressed as.
Oh wait, I already do that. Silly me! Except I don't pretend to be somebody else.
No shade though...
Anyways it's been exactly a month since Vicki was turned and to say it's been a ride is an understatement. Who would have thought that a druggie would just be even worse as a vampire? Never would have guessed.
Jesus, I've been spending too much time with Damon and my sister. I sound like a sarcastic asshole...
so Damon.
Anyways today is Halloween- as if I didnt say that already- and there is a Halloween party at the high school tonight and my costume is hot. Stefan was supposed to be going with me, but you know him and Damon are babysitting Vicki and all. But Jac and Elena are going with me, and we'll be meeting Caroline and Bonnie there. So it shouldn't be too bad.
I grimace as I walk into the highschool building. Ugh, I may be popular, but this place still disgusts me. It's giving me very much...below my pay grade.
"Hey, Maria! Wait up" I hear someone call from behind me. I turn around to see Elena jogging towards me, I wait for her to catch up with me before walking again.
"Hello, Elena" I grin kindly greeting her, she returns the gesture with an equally large smile.
People in the halls stare at us weirdly as we walk. After Elena and I started hanging out, there was rumors going around that I was just being friends with her to eventually kidnap her and lock her in my basement or that me her and Stefan are in a poly relationship. Because apparently those are the only sensible reasons as to why we'd ever be seen together.
I pause to glare evilly at the prying eyes.
"Can I help you all with something?" I snap causing everyone to immediately go back to what they were doing.
I massage my forehead as another headache begins to form. I've been getting those a lot lately.
"Hey, are you okay?" Elena asks lightly grabbing my shoulder in concern. I huff before turning to her with a reassuring smile.
"Yes, just a headache. No big deal" I wave it off. Elena nods reluctantly.
"Hola, my beautiful friends!" Jac greets us as she squeezes us into a bone crushing group hug.
"How are you this fine morning ladies?" She exclaims pulling away from the hug.
"We're fine, how are you Jac?" Elena replies kindly earning a grin from an eager Jac.
"I'm glad you asked my brown eyed friend" Jac responds taking her sweet ole time. I impatiently gesture for her to continue.
"Oh! Right" She remembers that she was suppose to tell us something. Jac looks around before tugging Elena and I into an empty classroom.
"Okay" She sighs closes the door behind her. She turns to face us as we look at her expectantly.
"I think I found a spell for you to activate your full enchantress aura without you dying" Elena and my eyes bulge out of our heads at the revelation.
"Are you serious?" Elena gaps in disbelief.
"Yes, but there are still some major side effects" Jac grimaced at the thought.

"So you figured out how to get rid of the possible deadly trial spell?" I ask hoping for the answer I want.
Jac scratches the back of her head nervously.
"I said major side effects" Jac cringes at the frown that appears on my face.
I swallow thickly as my vision starts to blur.
"Maria-
I shake my head.
"It's okay Jac, really. You all are trying everything you can, that doesn't mean you can do everything" I don't know whether I'm trying to assure her or myself.
Jac furrows her eyebrows with a glare.
"But that doesn't mean we've done enough, Maria. You are my bestfriend, basically my sister, and I will be damned if I lose you because we didn't look under every rock and try every spell in every book to save you" The Latina snaps, her voice cracking at the end.
"I'm not saying you all have done enough, Jac. I'm saying that I don't want to get my hopes up for something that we might not be able to change. I will continue to look under every single rock and search every single spell book there is, but I will not get my hopes up for something that will inevitably crush me if it doesn't work" I spit back with a glare just as cold.
Jac's eyes have glazed over with unshed tears. She opened her mouth to speak, but before she could the bell for first period rang throughout the building.
"I'm going to class" I grit out, leaving Jac and Elena alone.
Elena stressfully runs her hands through her hair with a heavy sigh.
"Well, at least it's Friday"
I walk into the boarding house as if it's my own. As I make my way down the hall to the living room I hear multiple voices in the distance. As soon as I turn the corner I'm met with striking light blue eyes.
"Aria, wonderful for you to finally join us" Damon greets with a sarcastic smile. I roll my eyes as I push passed him.
"I would apologize for being late, but I was shopping so..." I trail off placing my bag down on the coffee table.
"I'm not sorry" I flash my perfect teeth as I plop down beside Stefan, who wraps his arm around me.
"Alright then, let's talk" Jac claps her hands gaining everyone's attention, except for Elena.
Elena stares not so subtly at Stefan's arm around Maria, which ultimately goes unnoticed by everyone. Well everyone except Damon.
When she finally looks away her brown eyes meet Damon's blue ones. She quickly averts her eyes when he sends her an 'I saw that' smirk.
Elena shifts uncomfortably when she realizes he saw her staring at Maria and Stefan.
Let's just say that over the past month, Elena's unaccepted feelings for Maria have done the opposite of dim.
"We have a small solution to a big problem" Jac points out standing from her seat to stand in the middle of the group.
"And what is that solution?" Damon asked whilst pouring himself a drink. Since he's standing behind Elena he sarcastically gestures toward the alcohol when she glances at him.
"It's a little too early to be drinking, don't you think?" The brunette muttered cutting her eyes at him. Damon shrugged unbothered by her judgement.
"I suppose it's happy hour some where" He replies before bringing his drink up to his lips.
"The small solution is that we found a spell that prevents Maria from dying in order to enter the enchantress trial" The Latina spoke pacing a bit in the middle of the room.

"But..." Stefan says urging her to continue. Jac sighs heavily.
"But, we still can't prevent her from possibly dying during the trial" Everyone's shoulders sagged in defeat. Everytime they get so close, they end up so much farther away.
"Then maybe I go through the trial without the spell" Maria suggests while inspecting her nails.
Everyone's necks snapped in her direction.
"What is up with you? Why are you so hellbent on risking your life?" Jac scoffs in disbelief running her hands through her hair ferociously.
Maria looks up at her best friend with a cold glare.
"I'm not hellbent on risking my life, I'm hellbent on trying to stay alive while the people I love don't brew the consequences of it" The youngest Griffith snaps now standing up from her seat.
"Come on guys, let's just calm down" Stefan, the peace maker, attempts but his words fall to deaf ears.
Jac let's out a humorless laugh.
"No, I don't think that's it. I think that you actually want to give yourself up and risk your life just so that you have the peace of mind that we're all okay. I think that you don't actually care about you dying!" Jac accuses stepping closer and closer to Maria with every word.
Maria's face goes blank.
"You're right. I'm not scared of dying for any of you all, I never have been. But what I am scared of is leaving you, because I love you and you love me. So how can you be selfish enough to leave someone who loves you? The answer is, when you want them to be safe" The island girl says now standing right in front of her best friend.
"So you would just give up everything we've tried, every solution, every possible way to save your life, just to save our lives over a hunch that things may go wrong?" Jac asks incredulously narrowing her eyes at Maria.
"Yes, in a heartbeat" She answers not moment later. Jac furrowed her eyebrows as her body filled with anger.
"Why Samaria? That doesn't even make sense!" Jac raised her voice in anger.
"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU, YOU ARE MY SISTER JACQUELINE!" Maria shouts back even louder her irritation getting the best of her.
"Because I love Tiare! Because I love every single person in this room, and because I would not be able to live with myself if anything ever happened to one of you because you were trying to save me!" Her voice cracks at the end as a sob almost breaks through.
Stefan stands to comfort her as tears begin to escape her eyes.
"Do you not understand? This is not just typical ole fashioned witch magic, Jac. This is enchantress magic, the lightest and darkest kinds of magic there is. Do you know that if you don't hold enough magic in your body or if the ancestors do not deem you fit, you will die from just being too close to an enchantress spell because the magical energy is too powerful for any other species to retain? Do you know that if you mess up just a little bit of this spell it could cost you your life? Do you know that there is a big chance the spell might not even work just because I'm an enchantress and you are not?" At this point Maria had tears streaming down her face as she leaned on to Stefan for support.
"You could die Jac! You could die just because you want to save me and I can't lose you. You can't do that to me" Jac stared ahead into Maria's eyes as silent tears glided down her cheeks.
At this point everyone, whether some chose to admit it or not, had tears in their eyes.
Stefan kept a firm grip on his girlfriends waist, preventing her legs from giving out beneath her.
Maria sniffed as she wiped away her tears. She stood up straight in Stefan's arms before her hard stare returned to her face.
"You will not continue finding ways to risk your lives when I can simply suck it up and go through the trial just as every enchantress has done before me" Maria ordered in a monotonous tone before silently leaving the room and heading up the stairs to Stefan's.
"Well that went well" Damon mumbled filling his glass back up. He received a few glares in return.
Stefan sighed heavily before leaving the room to go find his girlfriend.
Maria sniffled and rushed to wipe her tears when she heard footsteps coming. She sighed in relief when she realized it was Stefan.
"I can't let you guys do this Stefan. I-I can't lose you Stefan, I can't" Stefan shushed her as he pulled her into his arms. He stroked her hair as she continued to cry into his chest.
"I know, Angel, I know. But you have to calm down, okay? I need you to calm down for me" Maria nodded against him beginning to take deep breaths.
Stefan planted a kiss on her hair as he continued to hold her and slowly rock her from side to side.
"How about" The green eyed vampire begins causing Maria's head to lift up.
"We stay up here and you show me what you bought from your shopping trip" Stefan suggests chuckling when he sees his girlfriend's face light up at his words.
"Really?" He nodded. She beamed making a bee line for the door to go and get her shopping bags from her car.
"And the boyfriend of the year award goes to..." Damon says as he announces his presence at the doorway.
Stefan rolls his eyes at his older brother.
"What do you want, Damon?" Damon holds his hands up in mock surrender.
"Ah don't worry. I didn't come up here to fight, if that's what you're thinking" He says slowly trailing into Stefan's room.
"I just came up here to ask what you think about Maria's decision" Stefan frowns slightly as he thinks about Maria and her words from downstairs.
"I think that...this is her decision. And if she wants to do it this way, then we'll do it this way" Stefan exclaims defiantly to his older brother.
Damon nods slowly at the declaration.
"Hmm, okay. That was all" And just like that he disappears around the corner.
A few seconds later, Maria struts in with bags hanging off her arms.
She grins when she looks up at her boyfriend.
"Are you ready for the fashion show of your life?" Stefan simply nods while mumbling to himself.
"Why do I feel like I'm gonna regret this?"
"This party is sort of boring" Jac comments from beside Maria by the punch bowl.
"It's not sort of boring, it is" Maria mumbles with a look a disappointment.
"You got that right" Jac replies pulling a flask out of her bag and pouring its contents into her punch. She tilts the flask to Maria who raises her cup.
"I'll be back" The Cuban girl mutters tossing back the rest of her drink.
Maria frowns a bit.
"Where are you going?" Jac looks back at her with a lazy smirk.
"The stoner pit" Maria rolls her eyes but shoos her away nonetheless.
Maria closes her eyes, enjoying the peace for the moment.
"Maria!"
Until it was over.
She sighs as she opens her eyes to see Elena rushing over to her.
"What's wrong?" Maria asks continuing to sip on her spiked drink.
Elena attempts to regulate her breathing.
"Vicki escaped the boarding house and now she's here somewhere with Jeremy" Elena tells her, her eyes filled with worry for her baby brother.
The Griffith girl throws her head back with a groan.
"It's always the druggies" Maria slams her cup down on a table before grabbing Elena's hand and dragging her down the hall.
"Where are they?"
Elena, too distracted by the feeling of Maria's fingers intertwined with hers, doesn't hear Maria's question.
The enchantress turns to the dazed brunette cause of her lack of response. She snaps her fingers in front of face to gain her attention.
"Elena, Hello! Where are they?" Maria calls out causing Elena to snap out of her trance.
"Oh um sorry. I don't know probably somewhere secluded" Elena blinks rapidly.
Maria nods slowly, thinking of secluded places that the teens in love would more than likely go to.
"Ah! I know where they are" The Griffith girl exclaims as a light goes off in her head.
"Come on, we have to hurry" Maria says as she once again drags Elena off by her hand, leaving the said brunette more flustered than the last time.
"Vicki, what are you doing?" The pair of girls hear as they open exit out of the building where the buses are parked.
"Vicki!" Maria and Elena share a worried look before rushing towards the noise.
When they get to Jeremy they see that he's with Stefan instead of Vicki.
"Where did she go?" Elena asks looking around frantically.
"I don't know she just disappeared" Stefan sighs heavily peering under the buses and checking around them.
"W-what wrong with her. She was fine and we were kissing, then she j-just bit me" Jeremy stammers out worried about the newbie vamp. Elena's eyes bulge out of her skull at his words.
"She what! Are you okay?" The brunette asks grabbing her brothers face in her hands, checking over him for any other injuries.
"Yes, but what's wrong with Vicki?" Jeremy asks pushing her hands away from his face.
"We'll tell you later, but right now we need to get out of here" Maria cuts in starting to push him and Elena toward the door her and Elena came out of.
Maria turns around to call for Stefan, but when she does she sees Vicki appear behind him.
"Stefan look out!" He turns around just in time to catch her punch. Stefan throws her to the ground, but right after she kicks him in the stomach, giving her enough time to speed off.
The Griffith girl was rushing toward her boyfriend when she heard a loud scream from behind her. She snaps her head toward the noise with wide worried eyes.
"ELENA!"

The London Phantom: A Superhero Webnovel
London is an old city. It has survived floods, fires, plagues and the man-made smog of industry. It has stood firm against the armies of Vikings, Saxons, Normans and the aerial might of the Luftwaffe. It has borne witness to dynsatic feuds, civil wars, military occupation and the sin of regicide. Through all these disasters the city has survived not through force of arms, though its walls were once the envy of the world, but through adapting to the times. Enemies become dependant on the city, and the wealth of the world that flows through it, and so become new allies. If the rulers change, then the city welcomes them with open arms, and open lines of credit. In this way the city seeks to preserve its ancient rights and position of power. Superheroes are a new phenomenon. The first superpowered man walked out of the Nevada desert in 1950, and the world was forever changed. Across the planet, men and women with exceptional abilities made themselves known. At first, they were little more than another source of fear in the era of Mutually Assured Destruction, but over time attitudes changed and the concept of the Superhero was created in the city of Los Angeles. From there the phenomenon spread across the globe; superheroes went from being feared arms of the state to a symbol of hope in these maddening times. Times have changed. Sixty years from the emergence of the first superhero, the City of London stands on a precipice. Two years have passed since the madman Fawkes nearly brought down the United Kingdom and the remnants of the Bow Street Runners, London's premier superhero team, are struggling to keep order in a city that seems on the brink of collapse. London stands on a knife's edge, with criminal organisations that once stuck to the shadows becoming more bold, and ancient powers from myth and legend making themselves known. Alexander Laszewski has recently 'awakened' and has become entirely unremakable, effectively making himself invisible to the world. He must use his newfound power to navigate a city on the edge of collapse. If only he could figure out how to turn it off.
