Jealousy is a disease, get well soon, bitch

➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

Jealousy. It's a form of hatred built upon insecurity. It's counting someone else's blessings instead of your own. Some people will hate you simply because they see you enjoying the success they don't have from the work they haven't done. You can't be friends with someone who wants your life. Jealousy is the fear of comparison and you can't compete where you don't compare.

It's two days after Vicki was found in the woods and things are kind of crazy. It's like no body knows how to act anymore. The sleepover was supposed to be a distraction from the Vicki thing, and it was. It helped for awhile, that is until a certain green eyed Salvatore boy showed up at my front door.

Now don't get me wrong I really like Stefan and I appreciate his concern, but he's so lucky I didn't just leave him there. I ended up inviting him in and we just talked all night about nothing but something at the same time. I think we've grown a lot closer. I mean we're not together yet, but we both know where each other stands.

Anyways, let's get on with the day.

I'm walking down the hallway towards my locker only to see someone leaning up against it.

"That's my locker, darling" I point out with a raised eyebrow. Bonnie quickly stands up straight.

I turn towards my locker and open it, getting out my books for first class. I glance behind me to see Bonnie still standing there.

"Is there something you need, Bonnie?" I ask uninterested with my back still turned.

"What are you using Elena for?" She questions suspiciously.

"What are you going on about?" I roll my eyes while fixing my lipgloss in my locker mirror.

"I'm talking about you using Elena for one of your little schemes. First you stand up for her in class, then you skip class for her, she's telling you things she won't even tell me, you're supposedly helping her with something, and now you're having sleepovers together? I don't buy it, one bit" Bonnie accuses. I groan loudly whilst again rolling my eyes before banging my head against my locker lightly.

"This, bitch" I mutter under my breath. I sigh bored with this subject.

"Bonnie, I really don't have time for this nor do I have to tell you anything. If you really wanna bitch to somebody about something, please do it to someone who cares" I tell her off as I brush past her strutting down the hall to my first class.

It's now first period and I'm in history. Mr. Tanner is rambling on about Mystic Falls history, as he does at the beginning of every year, though I'm not really paying attention. Green eyes kept me distracted the whole time as he kept stealing glances at me and I did the same in return. Every time we locked eyes we would both grin at each other sheepishly.

"Are we bothering you, Mr. Salvatore? Ms. Griffith?" Stefan and I drop our gaze, frowns replacing our faces.

Before I had the time to reply with a smart comment the bell rang. Saved by the bell, bitch ass Tanner.

"I brought it" Stefan says from behind me. I look down to see that he's holding a book.

"Wow, "Wuthering Heights" by Ellis Bell. I guess I'm not surprised she didn't use her first name" I gush over the book Stefan hands to me.

"All the Bronte sisters used pseudonyms. It was the time. Female writers weren't very accepted then" Smarty pants Stefan informs me.

"Where did you get it?" I ask quickly skimming through the pages.

"Uh, it was passed down. Through the family" He replies.

"Oh my gosh" I squeal causing Stefan to chuckle.

" I have lots of books. Go ahead. Keep it" Stefan tells me with a shrug.

"No, no way. I'm giving this back when I'm finished" I tell him sternly. Stefan jokingly holds his hands up in surrender.

"Okay, whatever you want" He agrees with a nod, I grin up at him clutching the book to my chest.

I see Matt walking away from the football field.

"Matt!" I yell catching his attention. He stands in his place as he waits for me to catch up.

"Hey, how are you? How's Vicki?" I ask softly placing my hand on his shoulder.

"I could be better, and Vicki's getting there. They're keeping her overnight to make sure there's no infection, but she should be able to come home tomorrow" Matt tells me.

"That's good news" I say trying to lighten the mood.

"Yeah" He answers vaguely.

"Have you gotten in touch with your Mom?" I ask while we walk down the sidewalk.

"Called and left a message. She's in Virginia Beach with her boyfriend, so...we'll see how long it takes her to come rushing home" Matt sighs in despair.

"It'll be okay, Matty" I reassure with a genuine smile.

"I know, and now there's talk of some missing campers" Matt says.

"Did She day what kind of animal it was?" I question glancing to Stefan sitting at a table by himself.

"She said it was a vampire" My eyes immediately snap back to Matt's.

"A vampire?" I ask in disbelief, taken aback.

"Yeah, she wakes up last night and mutters "vampire" and then passes out" Matt explains with a uncomfortable expression.

Vampire? I haven't heard about those in a while. I hope this isn't gonna start being a normal occurrence.

"Okay, then?" I say still quite confused.

"I think she was drunk. So what's up with you and the new guy?" Matt asks noticing Stefan sitting near by. I glance behind myself then turn back to Matt. I see Matt's hostile expression towards Stefan.

"Matt, chill. So far, he's a good guy, okay? Nothing to worry about" I assure with a playful roll of my eyes.

"Okay, okay. Whatever, I get it. I gotta go, I'll see you later" Matt walks off to his truck.

I turn around in search of Stefan to see he's completely vanished. He tends to do that a lot lately.

Stefan appeared in Vicki's room at the Mystic Falls Hospital.

" It was an animal that attacked you. It came out of the night and jumped you. You blacked out. It's all you remember" Stefan compels as his eyes dilate.

"It's all I remember" Vicki repeats back in a monotone.

"An animal attacked you. You blacked out. It's all you remember" Stefan compels again.

"It's all I remember"

"Well, I was talking to Grams, and she said the comet is a sign of impending doom. The last time it passed over Mystic Falls, there was lots of death. So much blood and carnage, it created a bed of paranormal activity" Bonnie rambles on.

I'm currently at the grill with Jac, Caroline, Bonnie, and Elena.

"Yeah, and then you poured Grams another shot and she told you about the aliens. So then what?" Caroline asks turning her attention to me.

"So then nothing, Caroline. Nothing happened" I shrug.

"You and Stefan talked all night? There was no sloppy first kiss or touchy feely of any kind?" Caroline questions in disbelief.

"Nope. We didn't go there, sorry Care" I apologize sarcastically.

"Not even a handshake? I mean, Mars, we are your friends. Ok? You are supposed to share the smut" Caroline rants.

"Yeah, I mean at least tell me" Jac puts in.

"I would, if there was smut to share" I say with a roll of my eyes.

"OK, what is with the blockage? Just jump his bones already! Ok, it's easy. Boy likes girl, girl likes boy, sex!" Caroline states bluntly.

"Profound" Elena snickers. I shake my head before I start grabbing my things.

"Where are you going?" Jac asks tilting her head slightly.

"To Stefan's" I say as I look up to see three smug smirks. I roll my eyes.

"I'm returning a book, you idiots" I chuckle at their disappointed faces.

"Tell Stefan I said 'don't be silly wrap your willy'" Jac tells me with mischievous smirk.

"I'll be sure to remind him" I smirk before strutting away from the table. I laugh when I hear Jac shout "You nasty bitch, I knew it!". That's my bestfriend, though.

I walk up the steps of the porch. I ring the door bell and knock on the door only for the door to slowly creep open. I peak my head in and shrug before just walking in. It's not like anybody said I couldn't come in, besides the door was open so it's technically not my fault.

"Hello? Stefan?" I call out, slowly walking down the long hallway.

"This place is nice, I guess" I mutter while looking around.

A crow flies into the house causing me to turn towards the front door. I squint in confusion.

"What the fuck?" I ask no one in particular. I spin around again when I hear the crow caw from behind me only to blink in surprise when I run into a hard chest.

"Oh? Hi, I was looking for Stefan" I tell him hoping he doesn't think I broke in.

"You must be Maria, I'm Damon, Stefan's older brother" The blue eyed man greets taking my hand and kissing the back of it lightly while remaining eye contact.

Damn, his eyes are intense.

"Yes, the one he's doesn't talk to" I remember from when we were at the grill.

"Well, Stefan's not one to brag. Please, come. I'm sure he'll be here any second" He assures as he places his hand on the small of my back guiding me to the living room.

"Interesting...living room" I say trying to sound as nice as possible. Damon chuckles causing my eyes to snap to his.

"Thanks, I guess" He replies with an amused smile. I laugh while shaking my head.

"Sorry, sometimes my rich bitch shows" I shrug since it's no big deal. It's not the first time and definitely won't be the last.

"No worries, you have standards" Damon waves off.

"I see why my brother's so smitten. It's about time. For a while there, I never thought he'd get over the last one. Nearly destroyed him" Damon points out trying to get under my skin.

"The last one?" I ask in fake interest. I honestly couldn't care less about one of Stefan's exes.

"Yeah. Katherine, his girlfriend? Oh, you two haven't had the awkward exes conversation yet" He says with a ghost of a smirk on his face.

"Well, I haven't told him about my exes, so I wouldn't expect him to tell me about his. Plus I'd rather keep my exes in the past" I ask now showing my bored expression which catches Damon off guard. Damon covers his shock with smirk.

"You're quite the surprise, Aria. Is it okay if I call you that?" Damon asks.

"Sure, I don't think anyone's ever called me that before" I say trying to think back to when someone's called me that nickname.

"I think we'll be great friends" Damon voices moving closer to me. I narrow my eyes at him.

"I think so too, Demon" I smirk at my new nickname for him. He chuckles at the name.

"Hello, Stefan" I greet surprising both Damon and Stefan. I just grin at him.

"I was just dropping your book off" I walk over to him handing him the book from my bag.

I walk towards the door both brothers following after me.

"Wait, are you sure you don't want to stay?" Stefan asks grabbing my hand.

"Yes, you should spend time with your brother" I suggest sarcastically with a small grin causing Damon to chuckle.

"O-okay?" He agrees hesitantly let's go of my hand before looking between Damon and I suspiciously.

"It was nice meeting you, Demon. Bye Stef" I say to the brothers as I place a kiss on Stefan's cheek.

I turn around and walk out of the front door.

"Bye, Aria!"
