《Bite into Me》Chapter Thirty-Eight

It has now been three weeks since my life was ripped away from me. Carling eats with me for every meal now, we have gotten close, she isn't ignorant like the rest of the fay. Her curiosity sets her apart, she wants to learn and grow, and I really admire that about her.

I had begun training by myself, to keep my physical strength up and to keep me sane. Jareth barges in, as I use a small broom as a makeshift sword, to impale a fake enemy.

"What are you doing?" His tone is light and almost patronising.

I ignore him, continuing to fight my fake opponent. "Training," I say.

He chuckles. "Looks like a very challenging partner."

I stop and turn to him, showing him my rage with my eyes. "Is there something you want Jareth?"

He clicks the roof of his mouth with his tongue. "Just checking in, come on," he gestures with his hand for me to follow him.

"I'm not going anywhere with you."

"I can drag you?"

I sigh loudly before following him. "Aren't you going to put the cuffs on?"

"Camille, we both know that I can beat you, you don't need to wear them with me."

His cockiness is something I plan on exploiting. "Where are we going?"

"It's not far," he says.

He leads me to a room with wall to floor mirrors, wooden mannequins, and weapons. "How about we train together?"

I fold my arms across my chest.

"Oh come on Camille, it will be beneficial to you."

"Whatever." To be honest I want nothing more than to train with him, maybe I can kill him in here.

"Here," he hands me a blade. "I know this is the size you like to use," he smiles at me. No doubt remembering the night we fought.

"How do you keep demons out of your mind?" I ask as our blades start clanging against each other.

"Years of practice, why, are you already thinking of joining us?"

"Never," I say, and he knocks me to the ground, but I still clutch my blade. I would never drop it again.

He quickly moves on top of me, pining down my arms with his hands. "God you are beautiful," he says as he looks down at me with eyes that dance. "Don't worry, I won't touch you until you ask for it."

"Then get the fuck off me," I say through clenched teeth.

He smiles. "You know, your feistiness only turns me on more."

I turn my hands into his direction and shoot two large lights, he is sent flying to the other side of the room. I run at him, ready to bury my blade into his heart, but he blocks and punches me in the face. I fall to the ground, feeling the blood spill from my nose. "We train every day from now on," he says helping me to my feet. "Back to your room now."

I sit on the edge of the tub with a towel pressed to my nose. The blood has finally stopped pouring, but the pain is still there. Training with Jareth was going to be a lot harder. How do I beat him? He is just too quick and too strong.

"Dinner!" Carling sings as she enters my room. "Camille?" There is a hint of worry in her voice.

"I'm in here."

I hear her place the food down before coming into the bathroom. Her face drops and she rushes to me when she sees the white towels soaked red. "What happened?"

"Training with Jareth," I say with a shrug. "It's not as easy without any magical vampire venom to heal me."

She moves the towel to see the damage. "It isn't broken, but you will be very bruised and sore. I can't believe he would do this."

I don't say anything, she won't appreciate my sarcastic remarks right now. "Let's get some food into you," she leads me back to my bed and dishes me up some soup.

"We're family, right?" It was the first time I had admitted that out loud to her.

"Right," she smiles.

"And that means we look out for each other?"

"Of course," her features have grown serious.

I grab her hands in mine, "then help me escape," I beg.

Her eyes soften, and I watch as her mind tries to think of a way to tell me no. "Cami..."

I drop my hands from her grip, but she pulls me back. "I will be banished..." She says sadly.

"So? Come live with me! You don't fit in here anyway; you belong with me."

She tries to stop her smile, but it etches along her face. "I couldn't do that," she says in a nervous excited way.

"Yes you can! We should stay together from now on, what do you say?"

"Okay," she whispers.

"Really!?" I jump up and hug her.

"You are the only family I have left, and I thought I would never get to meet you. I would do anything for you Camille." Her words pull at my chest.

"I thought I would never meet any of my family, out of this whole being captured thing, I'm glad I got to meet you Carling."

"Okay, I have an idea," she says excitedly.
