《Journey to the Old Era (Drisana's Mahabharat #1)》Chapter 16

I wanted to clear a few things first.
1. About Devika, Drisana and Nakul's fast. Whenever one of them kept fast, they used to eat only fruits by collecting them from surrounding areas. As Brahman's obtained rice and vegetables as alms most of the time, the person who kept fast didn't take share of it. So that day by keeping fast, Drisana, Devika and Nakul wasn't going to take their share in the alms.
2. I'm no genius when it comes to religious things or original mahabharat. So I wrote it from my perspective based on my little knowledge. Pardon me if I hurt someone's feelings unintentionally.
3. I have a question. Just like Bhismeh, why Pandavs didn't took an oath of becoming Brahmachari when Kunti said those words? They could still be together supporting Yudhisthir in that case. In some articles, it was mentioned that all of the Pandavs desired Draupadi, so to avoid any commotion between brothers Yudhisthir took the decision of Draupadi marrying all of them. Later Draupadi agreed.
Thanks to all the readers who is reading and supporting me in this story. 😊😊😊

Maharaj Drupad and Dhristyadym followed the Brahman's with the help of Krishna as he was concerned for his daughter. Krishna left them near the hut without saying anything. Maharaj Drupad thought it best to go inside. As he and Dhristyadym were standing near the entrance they heard Kunti's words.
Silence followed as Kunti realised what she had ordered in ignorance. Everyone was frozen in place. No one could comprehend what was said. Drisana closed her eyes in regret. No. She couldn't let that happen. She had to stop it somehow. But how?
Maharaj Drupad was the first one reacting.
"What are you saying? How can my daughter be divided among your so-" before he could complete and the idea of dividing Draupadi among the brothers could take life, Drisana interrupted.
"Yes. That's right. How can we divide a person among us?" She skillfully inserted herself into the statement as not to let them consider Draupadi as a prospective bride rather than a person.
"Mata spoke unknowingly, we should forget it and welcome bhrata Arjun and Rajkumari Draupadi."
Even though Nakul noticed that in spite of keeping fast, Drisana included herself in the division, he kept silent.
Everyone was numb to think anything. Drisana hoped her attempt to divert the situation would work. She concentrated on Yudhisthir. Trying to read him. If he was convinced, the rest would follow.
Yudhisthir was thinking what his mother ordered. Draupadi wasn't some object to divide.
"What kind of order you've given us, Mata? To obey every word spoken by you is our Dharma. But how can we divide a human?" Yudhisthir asked Kunti. From his expression and statement it was clear he saw Draupadi as a human, not a bride.
Drisana had to think something fast before the idea of marrying Draupadi even came to anyone's mind.
'Jo bhi mila hain, aapas mein baat lo.'
(Divide among yourselves whatever you've obtained.)
'Jo bhi mila hain, aapas mein baat lo.'
(Divide among yourselves whatever you've obtained.)
'Baat lo'
(Divide)
Drisana remembered something then. When she was a child her mother used to read in sanskrit and explain them later. In the supposed events, Kunti wasn't going to use that word.
She was supposed to say 'bhog lo' (enjoy). And that's why the pandavs married Draupadi as there was only one relation that allowed man to enjoy a woman according to Vedas.
If the word had changed, there must be some other possible outcome of Kunti's words. She had to think fast.

"Jyesth, is it possible to divide a human by her relations and rights?" Drisana asked Yudhisthir.
"Yes." Yudhisthir was still in shock of his mother's order. He couldn't comprehend what to do.
"Okay. So, we can divide her I guess." Drisana said taking a deep breath. Everyone was looking at her surprised. What was she trying to say? Draupadi looked at her with shock. How can she talk about dividing a woman being one herself?
Drisana understood and hoped her solution would work.
"Jyesth, when you come with alms, Mata divide that into two parts. Giving one to bhrata Bheem, she divides the other among the rest of us. Because bhrata Bheem's needs are more than us and so based on everyone's needs Mata divides the alms. Right?" Drisana asked.
"Right." Yudhisthir agreed still not getting her point.
"Now if we talk about a woman, when she gets married she gets divided into many roles. As bhrata Arjun won the contest, his right on Rajkumari is more than the rest of us. Mata never mentioned about dividing equally. So just like bhrata Bheem, bhrata Arjun should get the biggest right on her as her husband. And when bhrata Arjun gets married, she'll automatically get divided among the rest of us as our sister-in-law. We'll have rights on her as her in-laws. This way Mata's order will be obeyed too. Right Jyesth?" Drisana said gulping her fear.
All of them looked at her being frozen. They kept staring at her. She was nervous as hell as she heard Yudhisthir.
"She is right."
And with Yudhisthir's words the tension that hung heavily on them dispatched. Drisana closed her eyes in relief. She did it. No one had to suffer now. Draupadi wouldn't get divided. Devika wouldn't have to suffer. And most importantly her Nakul would be only hers. The tension and burden of the last few days finally lifted from her shoulders.
Draupadi looked at Drisana. The girl was really intelligent. At the time when everyone was frozen, she took matters into hand and handled the situation with her wisdom. The moment Kunti's words escaped her mouth, Draupadi had frozen in fear and shock. She wasn't some object to get divided into brothers. She was a woman and she was afraid of losing her dignity. She was afraid of the ways they might thought to divide a woman. She didn't want their mothers ignorance to become her fate. That girl had knowing or unknowingly saved her from humiliation and for that she would be always in her debt. She didn't know what to say. So, she did the only thing she could think of. She went closer to her and hugged her.
Drisana understood Draupadi's condition. Even though she didn't let the words escape anyone's mouth, it hung heavily in the air that no one wanted to grasp.
Kunti also came near them. Her eyes held apology for Draupadi and appreciation for Drisana. Eyes glistening with tears she hugged them both. She too realised what Drisana had done. She had stopped an upcoming storm.
"This simple thing didn't occurred to us. You're really intelligent, Putri." Drupad said finally breathing easily.
"Why wouldn't she be? Afterall she's my sister." And this was the time Krishna made his appearance with smile on face.
The Pandavs and Kunti were just now realising Maharaj Drupad, Dhrishtadyumn and Krishna's presence as the shock and tension of the sudden occurrence wore off.
"What are you saying Vasudev?" Maharaj Drupad asked.
"Exactly what you're hearing Maharaj. She's my sister Drisana. And these five Brahman brothers are none other than Pandavs. Parnipat, bua." Krishna said coming towards Kunti.

"Pandavs? That means?" Maharaj Drupad said being surprised.
"Yes, Maharaj Drupad. The one who won the swayamvar is Panduputra Dhanurdhari Arjun." Krishna said smiling watching everyone's faces. Even Draupadi was shocked. She didn't realised the one she put garland into was the same warrior her father wanted for her. The whole way she was silent. Resigning to her fate, she followed wherever her would-be-husband led her.
"I can't believe this. This is a miracle." Maharaj Drupad was overjoyed with the news that the same Arjun he wanted as his son-in-law was actually going to be Draupadi's husband.
"Bua, Pandavs, this is the time when you should return to Hastinapur. Everyone already knows of your existence." Krishna said smiling to them.
"But?" Kunti started staring at her sons.
"Have faith at your children, bua. Samay ke prayojan ko jhuklaya nahi ja sakta. (The needs of time cannot be ignored)." Krishna said.
The Pandavs and Kunti understood the situation. Their identity was revealed and there was no point in remaining hidden.
Drisana wasn't worried about it. She was thinking of the talk she and bhrata Krishna was going to have. She knew all of it wouldn't have happened if Krishna wanted anything else. Why? It remained to be known. She also knew Krishna would only answer when he wished to. So, she chose to be silent until he talked to her.
"You're right, Krishna. The time has arrived to return to Hastinapur." Kunti was finally. "But before that I have to welcome my new daughter-in-law." Kunti said again looking at Draupadi.
"Oh yes, I remember. Where is Devika jiji? I haven't seen her since coming back." Drisana said.
"I sent her to bring some things. Yudhisthir, go and look where she remained." Yudhisthir left to find Devika.
"Maharani Kunti, I want you all to come with me and tomorrow morning Arjun and Draupadi to get married with your blessings." Maharaj Drupad said to Kunti.
"Of course. Let my eldest son and daughter-in-law come back, then we'll leave." Kunti said with a smile.
Yudhisthir found Devika and returned with her. On the way, he explained the events that occurred to her. Devika was thankful and relieved for Drisana's interference. She was also nervous and worried as this meant they would return to Hastinapur as Royals. Yudhisthir understood his wife's dilemma and assured her that she didn't need to get worried as he and his whole family would be there with her.
After Yudhisthir and Devika returned and the introduction and greetings were over, they went to Royal Palace of Panchal. Maharaj Drupad left no stones unturned as he welcomed them and made all the arrangements for the wedding next morning. Balaram came to meet them as they all were seated at the living room.
"Parnipat, bua." Balaram greeted Kunti and then the Pandavs. After greeting everyone, he came to stand in front of Drisana. Drisana was confused seeing his serious face.
"Pranam." She said with folded hands.
"I've waited so long to meet you and you won't even give your brother a hug?" Balaram said with a offended expression. Drisana smiled instantly and hugged him. Balaram smiled too. Everyone was happy and admiring the brother sister duo.
Drisana hadn't gotten a chance to talk to Krishna apart from the initial greeting. Everyone was busy in the wedding preparations.
Nakul wanted to talk to Drisana. So, after everyone retired to their rooms, he sneaked into her chambers. Drisana was looking outside the window when he came from behind.
"Are you okay?" He whispered at her ear.
"Yes. Quite a day, wasn't it?" She said.
"That's true." He said. "You're amazing, you know that?"
"Of course I do. And you should thank God everyday for me." Drisana said with a teasing smile.
"I do." Nakul said seriously.
Arjun was on the practice area. Tomorrow was his wedding. A new beginning. After coming to the palace, he had been subjected to light teasing from his brothers. With the wedding and their identity revealed, he was anxious. He couldn't have predicted the days events even this morning. He hadn't been able to say a single thing to Rajkumari Draupadi in midst of all of this. He wondered what she thought about all of it. Was she ready to accept him and start a new life?
Draupadi watched from the palace window as Rajkumar Arjun was practicing archery. It was sure a hectic day. Rajkumar Arjun hadn't spoken a single word to her. She wondered if she was just a conquered trophy for him. If he thought so, he had another thing coming. Because she wasn't going to be ignored. She was going to be his wife and Yagyaseni knew how to claim her rights.
The next day, everyone was up early and got busy at preparations and rituals. At the bride's side, Devika and Drisana helped Draupadi in getting ready. The three quickly formed a bond. On the groom's side, Arjun's brothers helped him with their constant teasing. For the first time, Arjun was silently bearing with them. It was time to leave for the mandap (wedding venue), when Kunti came inside. She blessed Arjun.
They went to the beautifully decorated mandap and after sometime came Draupadi with Drisana and Devika following her. Yudhisthir smiled at Devika while Arjun didn't lift his eyes after staring at Draupadi for a while as he didn't wanted to be more embarrassed. Nakul was frozen. A thunder could strike him but he wouldn't feel it. Sahdev had been trying to gain his attention quite for some time and stopped failing. The wedding rituals were completed. The couples got blessings from the elders.
Finally Nakul and Sahdev came to seek their blessings.
"Bhabishree, bless Nakul, so his marriage also gets completed. Pratiksa karte karte kahi iski umar na nikal jai. (He'll age by waiting only)" Sahdev said. Nakul glared at him.
Draupadi needed no explanation as she had noticed Drisana and Nakul. It was clear as sky they were in love.
Drisana came forward next and Arjun gave her blessing with a smug smile.
"Mujhe to laga tha mere charan sparsh tum apne bibha ke paschat hi karogi. (I thought you'll touch my feet only after your wedding.)" Arjun said teasingly.
"Ab bibha etni saralta se thori na hoti hai, bhrata Arjun. Aap ko to anuvhab bhi hai kathinai o ka. (Weddings don't happen so easily, bhrata Arjun. You have experience of troubles also.)" Drisana said it looking towards Krishna who was smiling mischievously. Arjun forced a smile glancing at Draupadi who had a curious expression.
Yudhisthir thought it best to talk to Krishna and Balaram about Drisana's marriage as they were already here. As Balaram was going to leave for Dwarka the next day, Yudhisthir and Kunti decided to talk to them after the wedding rituals got completed. So, after completing the wedding rituals and having food, the Pandavs, Maharaj Drupad, Dhrishtadyumn, Balaram and Krishna all were seated at the living room.
"Bhrata Balaram, Vasudev, I want to talk about something important to you both." Yudhisthir said. The rest looked curious as they had no idea what it was about while Krishna and Balaram both looked somber. Balaram glanced at Krishna who was in deep thoughts.
"Say, Yudhisthir." Balaram said.
"I want your permission and blessings for Nakul and Drisana's marriage." Yudhisthir said. All the rest were happy hearing that, but not the two whose permission was asked.
"I'm sorry, Yudhisthir. I can't give you permission." Balaram's words surprised everyone.

The Stars Have Eyes
The universe was a vast, empty, dark, and uncaring place. Then life happened, and the universe was changed forever. Only a teeny-tiny bit, but definitely different. Then again, the universe changes a teeny-tiny bit every second of every day. For instance, if someone were to get off the couch and randomly drink a glass of milk? Bam! One less glass of milk in the universe. Changed forever. Well, excluding any time-travel shenanigans, but anyone who puts a big old hole in the time-space continuum just to un-drink a glass of milk should really reevaluate their priorities. Unless, of course, they were attempting to prevent some massive catastrophe vis-a-vis said glass of milk. Such a scenario is by no means impossible, as one should never underestimate the importance of calcium. Another important tip for any life forms out there is to keep things in perspective. Some look at the vastness of creation in relation to themselves and go, ‘Man, this sucks!’ These people really need to narrow their focus. Sure, they will never affect anything happening on the other end of the galaxy, but so what? That’s way the heck over there, where it doesn’t matter. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy mindset, it is important to narrow one’s perspective to the things and people that affect them, and that they can affect in turn. But what happens if one is an unfathomable cosmic being from beyond the veil of reality? What happens when such an existence is capable of influencing entire swathes of the universe just by its presence? A creature such as Magh'rathlak the Observer? That particular entity is only about average as far as reality-warping creatures from the dawn of time go, so its influence over the fabric of reality is rather limited. And it still struggles to keep things in perspective. That, among other things, is why it decided to narrow its worldview a bit by compressing the maddening vastness of its being into a single corporeal form. Magh'rathlak had never tried such a feat, but that wasn't about to stop it. After all, how hard could being human possibly be?
8 183Riftwalker
Legend speaks that a roaring force of insatiable abyss lies beneath the peaceful overworld. Named the Rift after its chasm-like entrances, this unexplored void has consumed the underneath for eons. What had seemed just a myth crawled out of unreality in the form of eldritch creatures. Reborn as something not entirely human, mankind rejected the boy. Thrown into the Rift by people who feared him, he had to live in a world run by monsters as a newborn. Surviving, however, wasn't his only difficulty as he soon had to decide whether he would save the people who banished him or simply idle as the Rift engulfed all life. As of chapter 9, Riftwalker is on a very small hiatus. I'm very busy with work atm :( Here are a couple of things to expect: Lots of action and exploration! Diverse and refreshing creatures; There are good and evil. Satisfying progression and coming of age. The protagonist stands out but isn't overpowered. There are some litRPG elements, but it's not a determinant factor. The fights are decided through one's combat skill and experience and not stat-checking. Oh, and some other info: There is a bit of gore, but nothing disturbing. Occasionally, there will be images of the scenery and landscape. Chapters will be around 1,5k to 2k words long, and the releases will probably be relatively slow, sorry.
