《Unexpected Arranged Marriage》Final

"Wait... you remembered?!" my jaw dropped and he nodded animatedly as a reply. "Come on," he took my hand and brought me towards the date spot.
"Jin..." I was mesmerized by the lights and the cozy corner he had set up. There was a table covered with a white tablecloth with two wooden chairs present at each side. Food and drinks were already served. moonwritesfics
Rose petals were scattered all around making the placement look very romantic. What was more surprising was that the whole setting was laid out under the big tree where we first hung out when we were kids.
He brought me to one of the chairs and pulled it out from the table for me to sit on. After I was comfortable, he took his seat. "Jin... How?" I asked, still unable to hide the fact that I was shocked. "I have some connections to help me set this up," he answered. "No... I mean, how did you remember?" I asked with knitted eyebrows. moonwritesfics
"Honestly? After we finished buying the rings with my mom the other day, I asked her who your mom is, and whether I've met you guys before," he elaborated.
"So at the house the other day... During that luncheon... You knew you were talking about me?" I gasped. "Yes, but I didn't know if you'd remember so I tried testing the water," he confessed and took both of my hands in his. "And when you didn't say anything about it, I really thought you've forgotten," he added.
"But now... Since I could finally ask you out properly, I really wanted to make today special and maybe even make you remember about our real first encounter," he caressed my knuckles with his thumbs. moonwritesfics
"Well, just so you know, your job was way done even before you brought me here," I chuckled and he did the same.
We dug in our meal and I must say, the food was great. However, the time that we're spending with each other was far greater. What I love most about the date was that it was really casual yet so intimate.
The night wind suddenly blew a little stronger which made me shiver. I looked up to the sky and even though it was dark, I could tell that it had started to become cloudy. moonwritesfics
"Are you cold?" Jin asked once he noticed I looked a little uncomfortable. "Wrong timing to actually wear a knee-length dress," I joked. "Don't worry, I came prepared," he said and stood up with a blanket in hand.
He unfolded it and helped me place it on my lap. "Thank you," I smiled at his gesture. "My pleasure," he bowed a little with a grin plastered on his face.
"So... I have an important question," he suddenly said after he had sat down. "Do you get discounts on the video games that you've developed?" he narrowed his eyes at me. He looked surprisingly serious about it.
But, I find it extremely cute. Perhaps because I already knew he was just being cheekily playful. I really wanted to laugh but I think that'll ruin the mood, so I played along as usual. moonwritesfics
"Surprisingly, I don't, Mr. Kim," I answered his question in a rather serious tone while shaking my head. He was surprised by my answer.
"No discounts?! Why not?! You're the maker!" he exclaimed. "Maybe you should ask Nexon," I shrugged my shoulders.
"Well, I must confess that I kind of spend a lot of money on games," he raised both hands in the air as if he was surrendering. "So, I thought marrying you would actually help me save some up," he revealed.

"Wow... Mr. Kim, are you telling me that you're only marrying me to get discounts on video games?" I squinted my eyes at him while crossing my arms.
"What?! No!" he blurted out instantly. "I mean, it's the perks that comes with it, don't you think?" he chuckled. moonwritesfics
"Well, I'll tell you what," I said as I leaned in towards the table and he did the same. "I might not be able to get you the discounts you wanted... But maybe... Just maybe... I could get you a session during game testing," I winked at him and his eyes widened like crazy.
"What?! Really?!" he shrieked as he was freaking out. "Pre-released games?!" he couldn't believe what he was hearing. I nodded proudly. moonwritesfics
"I feel like a VIP already!" he excitedly squirmed which made me laugh. But my laughter subsided when I felt something had landed on my cheek. "Jin, I think I just felt a raindrop," I expressed.
"Raindrop? I think it was just my saliva when I was talking," he bluntly said. "Eww..." I made a face.
"Yah! You're marrying me. Get used to it," he chortled and I rolled my eyes playfully at him.
We continued spending our quality time fondly talking and getting to know more about each other. We had so much fun that we didn't even realize that the time flew by so quickly.
"Oh my... It's getting late," Jin said after he took a glance at his watch. I checked the time on my phone and I was shocked as well. "We should get going," I suggested. moonwritesfics
"But before we end our date today, I wanted to do something," he admitted while standing up and gesturing to me to do the same. He gently pulled on one of my hands and brought me aside, to stand next to the table.
Without any hesitation, he then grabbed both of my hands firmly in his. I was puzzled by his behaviour. But not for long.
He then knelt down and my eyes widened to the realization at what he was about to do. I could feel my heartbeat rapidly increased.
"Y/n... I know that it has been only a few days that we've decided to get married. But... I want to make this proper," he smiled at me. I was so surprised that I couldn't even smile back. Tears had made their way to accumulate in my eyes as I started to feel emotional. moonwritesfics
"You know, I couldn't stop thinking about you after our encounter a few months back," he said and I could feel his grip tightened. "How I wish I could do something to see you after that day... But it was nearly impossible since my schedule was crazily hectic," he continued while still keeping eye contact.
"And I didn't even get the chance to hire a private eye to go search for you," he added a joke which made me let out an airy chuckle while still trying my best not to cry.
"It was extremely hard for me to accept it when I got to know you were going to marry my brother instead," he sighed. "But now, knowing well that the universe is on our side, I am extremely grateful," he gave me a loving smile which melted my heart even more.
"Everything was definitely so... unexpected!" he said in exclamation. "But I couldn't be more glad," he continued. "Deep down inside, in whatever circumstances, I feel like we have always been destined to end up with each other," he expressed. moonwritesfics

He suddenly let go one of his hands from mine and searched his back pocket. He took out a black velvet box and opened it with that same hand, revealing the greatest surprise of the night.
It was that same ring from the jeweller! The one that had caught my attention the very moment I laid my eyes on it. I couldn't hold it in any longer. Those tears which were pooling at the brim of my eyes, finally rolled down my cheeks mercilessly. moonwritesfics
"So... Song y/n, will you marry me?" he popped the question and I could see that his eyes were sparkling, looking at me with much anticipation and hope.
"Yes! A billion times, yes!" I nodded while shedding more tears out from my eyes. He noticed that there was already a ring on my finger so he took that one out and shoved it in his pocket before he slid on the new one to it.
He stood up afterwards and his lips instantly met mine. I reciprocated within a heartbeat. Tears were still free flowing down my cheeks like waterfalls. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he snaked his arms around my waist. He lifted me up a little and spun me around while our lips were still attached.
Suddenly, I felt water come in contact with my head which made me break the kiss and look up to the sky. moonwritesfics
"What's wrong?" Jin asked as he placed me on the ground. "I really don't think it's your saliva," I chuckled while wiping off tears from my cheeks. "Huh?" he asked, confused. "I think it's raining," I said and felt another droplet fall onto my head.
Within a few seconds, heavy rain came pouring down on us. "See?!" I shouted as my voice was muffled by the strong sound.
We started to get drenched but none of us moved from where we were standing. One of his hands slowly made its way to my torso while the other one went to my neck. He leaned in and gently pressed his lips on mine. I replied to his kiss and we made out in the rain, ignoring the fact that we might get sick the next day. moonwritesfics
After a while, he broke off the kiss as we needed some air. "I think we should go," he suggested. I bit my bottom lip and nodded. He grabbed my hand and we rushed to the car.
He started the ignition and blasted the heater up. "Again, I came prepared," he grabbed some towels from the back seat and handed one to me.
We were still sitting in the car, drying ourselves. I abruptly stopped once I noticed the new engagement ring on my finger. I think I was staring at it for a tad too long. "Do you like it?" Jin suddenly asked. I moved my gaze towards him, beaming with a huge smile. "I love it!" I exclaimed and he let out a cute chuckle. moonwritesfics
"I'm impressed that you actually remembered," I said as I glanced at the ring again. "I could recall seeing you looking so happy when you tried it at the time. I knew it meant something to you," he inferred.
I now focused on him with full admiration, thinking 'how could I be so lucky?'. Our eyes were glued onto each other and I saw he shifted his sight onto my lips. I unknowingly leaned in and so did he. We kissed again but it wasn't as long as the ones before.
We broke off the kiss and rested our foreheads together. "I love you," he muttered all of a sudden. I pulled myself away, looking at him with a shocked and befuddled expression.
"I meant it, y/n-ah," he said and grabbed my hands. "I know you might think that this is too fast. Or that this is too sudden. But everyday, just by having the thought of us spending the rest of our lives together, makes me feel so happy. I feel like I couldn't wait any longer for it to happen," he confessed, yet again. "So, yeah. I love you, y/n-ah! I really do," he professed. moonwritesfics
"You don't have to say it back if-," he couldn't finish his sentence as I shushed him by putting my index finger on his lips. "I love you too," I smiled. His eyes widened to my sudden confession. "You do?" he asked as if he couldn't believe what he had just heard.
I impulsively nodded and he pulled me into a hug and started to pepper my face with kisses. "Yah! Stop! Let me go!" I tried to free myself from him with giggles in between.
"No, I'll never let you go!" he chuckled and wouldn't stop kissing me all over my face. He finally planted a long deep peck on my cheek, squishing it indirectly, before letting me go.
He rested his back on his seat and I did the same with mine. We both let out a long sigh at the same time and burst into giggles.
"Y/n-ah... I really like what you're wearing on your face," his lips curved upwards as he said this. moonwritesfics
"My face? As in my makeup?" I questioned. "No..." he shook his head. "Then? As in all of those sloppy kisses you gave just now?" I took a guess. "No..." he shook his head again.
"What is it, then?" I was getting a little exasperated. moonwritesfics
"The smile that I gave you," he winked and then wiggled his eyebrows playfully which made me scrunch my nose.
"Oh my god! That's so cheesy!" I exclaimed and pinched my nose bridge. I shook my head in disbelief. "Yah! I have to tolerate your lame jokes. You should tolerate my cheesy pick-up lines," he flailed his finger around while pointing it at me.
"Yah! You love my jokes! Don't tell me they're lame!" I snapped back at him which made him burst out into laughter.
"Well, I think I should get you back home now, huh?" he asked, indirectly changing the topic but I nodded at him with a smile. He shifted the gear and started to drive away from the parking spot. moonwritesfics
I instinctively linked my arm with his and rested my head against the upper part of his arm. He kissed the top of my head and I closed my eyes, enjoying his warmth while we appreciated the sound of rain coming in contact with the windshield.
Sometimes, in life, we could only just expect unexpected.

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.
